I received this immersion blender as a wedding present, and I couldn't be happier.
I've primarily used this blender for mixing up creme soups- split pea soup and butternut squash soup, to be specific- and the results have been fantastic. It is consistent and powerful, making quick work of a job that used to take forever doing it in batches in the food processor. I've also tried to creme soups by using a regular hand held mixer, but with not the greatest of results- why is this immersion blender better? First, because the blade is covered, so you don't splatter as everything is held down- Second, the blade shield not only covers the blade, but extends beyond it so you don't bounce against the bottom of the pot as you would with a traditional hand mixer.
This mixer also makes short work of mashed potatoes.
The cord is such that it does not get in the way when you are using it. Very helpful- I've had mixers where the cord is always getting wrapped up and around your arm- hate that! That is not a problem with this mixer.
Clean up is a snap- I usually immerse the blade end in water and give it a couple of spins to get the gunk off the blade head, then disengage the wand head with the easy to use release button- the rest wipes down quickly.
I cannot reccomend this product strongly enough.

I use this when I make two of my favorite soups. It far surpasses the old method of scooping bit by bit into the food processor/blender. Nothing is better than blending the soup already in the crock pot! Because it's less work, I find myself making things I used to save for special occasions! Talk about an easy process! It's small enough to fit in our kitchen drawer too.
This is a power tool and I like it. It has unexpectedly replaced my food processor for quite a few uses.
My first impression was that it is way bigger than what I wanted because I mostly wanted it to blend protein/whey powder and water in a glass just before I guzzlement. At 2.5 inches diameter, the bottom of the thing is too big for my glasses. Luckily, it came with a plastic cup and I drink out of that. I've shopped for a smaller immersion mixer, but have since decided that it is easier to get larger cups.
The mixer does a great job on the powders and cleans up easily. I was stirring them with a fork and the result was heinous. Now they're quite palatable and breakfast can be a three minute affair including clean up.
But wait!, As with any good tool it is good for more tasks. It truly is. I've turned all sorts of things into mush. Ice cubes, potatoes, yams, tomatoes, chick peas, chili peppers, ... If you cook, then you can probably tell what I've been blending. No problems.

Although this works to mix, which is helpful, it is not as efficient as it should be. Ingredients do spill out of the cup and the consistency does not equal using a hand blender. It is convenient in size and storage, but I would have expected a better product from Cusinart. I think it is best to buy a higher watt immersion blender if you are looking to create a whipped texture.

I had one of these years ago and lost it or wore it out. I had been looking for one and was glad when the suggestion came up. It does a great job and I am very satisfied.
