| Can't fry a lot at once with this - oil doesn't exceed 350 degrees and cools rapidly when a handful of room-temp food is introduced. Consumers who complain of oil leaking should observe the max oil level inside the fryer - if allowed to drain automatically (great feature BTW) and you exceed the max oil level, of course it's going to make a mess. EASY cleanup. The filter feature is silly - use either outside or under a range hood. For those who commented about overflowing oil, don't forget to turn on the range fan to remove the smell of oil. |

We do alot of deep frying and I do like this fryer. But there are a few things that are a little disappointing. It takes up alot of room, kind of a pain to clean and awkward to carry. I like how it filters the oil, but you have to wait 3 hours for the oil to cool before you can do that. The oil container is kinda awkward and messy. But all in all it frys very well and I like the basket and cover. My house no longer smells of oil afterward. |

| I bought this after reviewing many many other fryers. I've used it about 5 or 6 times so far and I've been happy with it. The auto drain and filter works just fine. No spills or mess. My only recommendation for a design change would be to put the heat indicator in front or higher above the temprature dial. As it is, its hard to see unless you stand right over it. The glass window is not very usable as it steams up and you have to take the lid off if you really want to inspect the contents. But overall I'm happy and would buy it agian. |

| We used the deep fryer for the first time for fries on Father's Day to go with Dad's grilled ribs. It worked great. We read the manual and followed it carefully after reading several reviews about overflow. We had no problem. The tip to fry the french fries 2x at different temps is well founded. It takes longer but it's worth it. Cleanup was a breeze. Looking forward to fried zucchini as soon as my garden crop is ready. |

| This is an awesome deep fryer with the exception of one thing. There is a lot of condensation build up while cooking and when you remove the lid and the water hits the hot oil, it will pop and splatter a little. Not enough to cause any problems though. I read alot of other reviews that said the storage container leaked while sitting overnight or while the oil is cooling down. I have never had this problem as long as you keep it on a level surface. Very nice product. Top of the line in deep fryers. |

| Me and My wife were so excited to get this fryer because of the features. We just didn't expect it to be defective right out of the box and have to pay for shipping to get it fixed and we still are waiting to use it. So my advise is if you are going to buy this product buy it from a store not online so you can return it without being charged for shipping. So buyer beware of the crappy cust. service from t-fal. |

I started off with a store bought fryer that I quickly returned after it wouldn't heat any higher than 340 degrees. I ended up with the EZ Clean after deciding to be a little less impulsive and compare what was out there.
Once the unit arrived it was put to it's first challenge. 5 grown adults frying their brains out.
Cheesestix, eggrolls, cheese sammiches, pb&j, white castle burgers, hot dogs, oreos, snickers, oatmeal crème pies, and e.l. fudge cookies. Most of it was battered and came out pretty good. Oil should normally last more than one session but this first batch was a bit too road hard.
The filtering... The fryer has been used about ten times now and on three or four occasions has leaked during the filtering process. Not a ton, but enough that I would have punched a pony had I not been prepared by other reviews. I knew ahead of time it might leak, but decided it was worth the risk for the filtering.
1 and a half stars removed for the leaking. As long as it doesn't leak CUPS like I've read in some reviews this is still better than manually filtering the oil. I'm American, I want everything done for me.
The other half star is for the size. It's a huge unit but isn't very deep. I understand this is because the storage bin below. What I'm confident T-Fal will end up doing is hire a wizard to make the unit smaller, keep the container, and let you safely add more oil for a deeper fry. Until they do I'll keep on frying with this sucka.
If you're just looking for good things to try, some of the other stuff we've done since...
Chicken, mushrooms, cheeseburger bites (weird hot dogs from 7-11), meatballs, Twinkies, Twix, taquitos, chimichangas, and countless types of french fries.
Overall : Good product with a few flaws. Yes, I know I'll likely die soon. It will be worth it. |

"The housing needs work..." | 2008-05-20 |

I'm not going into the nitnoidal details as to the capabilities, capacities, etc of this fryer -- there are plenty of reviews that do that already. The primary purpose of this review is to inform about this fryer's external housing.
Where as the internal fryer bowl is of a high quality, heavy guage stainless steel, the external housing is not. It is in fact a very flimsy (easy to bend/deform) part manufactured from low grade, light guage stainless. I've always been taught that magnets do not stick to high quality stainless steel - If you need a place to post your magnets from that last trip to Disney this fryer will do.
Due to the flimsy material of the housing you should be careful with how you handle it when it is apart. Fully assembled you need not worry - the structure supports itself properly. The trouble comes when the fryer is disassembled for cleaning - the housing is easy to bend, deform. I find that it is best to continue to handle the external housing by the plastic parts (the handles and the back, thermal control unit mount) than from anywhere else. Believe it or not, these parts are more solid than the the metal.
As for throwing the whole thing in the dishwasher when you're done - this is a nice feature and certainly makes clean up easier. However, I've noticed that the silver finish has been washed off of the front, 'oil control' switch (which is plastic) after only 3 washes in the dishwasher. I now only wash the housing by hand though it must be done carefully so as not to damage it (see paragraph above). Also, whether washing by hand or machine, be sure to dry the housing thoroughly by hand. I do not recommend exposing it to moisture for longer than needed because it is a low grade stainless. Stainless steel is not 'rust proof,' it is 'rust resistant' and the lower the grade of stainless, the less 'rust resistant' it is.
So why, after all of the above do I still give it 4 stars? Because other than the cheap quality of the housing this is a great fryer. I have not experienced any of the oil leaks that some others have reported (though I always place the fryer on a cookie sheet as a precaution). What really sets this fryer apart from the rest is what takes place after you cook. It is the easiest fryer to clean up - oil self drains/filters into a self contained, oil resevoir. Pull out the resevoir, put it somewhere dark and cool, throw most of the fryer into the washer, rinse off the heating element, wash/wipe the housing and you're done. |

I bought this deep fryer to replace a smaller, older version I had. The old one was too small even for two people as the basket was so small you had to fry several batches to get everything cooked. So, the larger size is a great benefit. Another thing I love about this fryer, is how it filters the oil and stores it for you in an airtight container. You really do feel like your cooking with fresh oil every time you use it. And after filtering the oil, just put it in the dishwasher and it all comes out spotless - no grease, no mess. The designer of this item really did a fantastic job. |
