"Get the Bosch not the Braun system" | 2008-10-04 |

| First off, I love the Tassimo system. Very easy to use and a broad range of choices as far as beverages. I just wish they gave you a true sampler pack, as there are a lot of different vendors and flavors within a brand. br /br /I purchased a bunch of different discs and like the Gevalia Latte and Chai Latte. I would match the Chai Latte with anything out on the market, including Starbucks. Put some whipping creme on top, wonderful.br /br /Ok, with that being said, get the BOSCH system from Tassimo, not this one. The BOSCH system is much quieter, much cleaner, not as messy and a lot easier to use. The BOSCH has a little handle on the water container and the lid doesn't fall into the container as easily. It also isn't as finicky as when you put the disc in and how long it takes to heat the water. Finally, the Bosch system is cleaner, as in it doesn't leak where the disc rests as does the Braun.br /br /Did I mention get the Bosch and not this one?br /br /The Bosch Tassimo system drink height adjustment is much better, too. The controls are easier to understand and use.br /br /If I hadn't bought the second Bosch for my office, I would have been moderately happy with the Braun system. It brews a nice hot cup of coffee and/or tea. The flavor of the coffee and teas are quite good.br /br /BRAUN PROS: Easy to use, like the filter, makes a nice hot cup of coffee.br /br /BRAUN NEGATIVES: Lid on water container could be better, this one tends to easily slip into the container. Its kind of loud, Bosch is much quieter. The cup adjustment isn't very good, but you can remove it for taller cups. The button for heating and 'auto' mode is finicky. I've had to unplug it a couple of times so it resets properly. Probably my fault as I should read the instructios--but not a problem with the Bosch.br /br /Comment: You really should try the different coffees and teas as they are different. I like Caribou Coffee, and thus a milder african blend. Gevalia is very good as well as the tea. The Maxwell house has more of a bite to it. My wife likes strong coffee and enjoyed the Seattle's Best.br /br /As others have mentioned, the hot chocolate is like the cheap stuff you get at a highschool football game made with hot water. You can improve upon it by using a 'latte' or 'capuccino' disc. My kids, five year old daughter and nine year old son LOVE the hot chocolate. So, since its for them, I can't really complain. I only tasted it. You can also improve upon the hot chocolate by getting the whipping creme in a can and spraying a healthy layer on top. Actually, what wouldn't taste better with a lot of whipping creme on top. Anyway, hot chocolate is a huge success with the kids, but not me. I love the hot chai tea--did I mention that?br /br /Finally, if you can, splurge on the cups and lids from Tassimo. Part of the coffee enjoyment is holding a warm cup of coffee in your hands--its tactile, too. So if you usually drink coffee from a coffee shop, you can simulate the feel of the cup by buying the cups and special lids from Tassimo. I found that this does help add to the feeling of enjoying a good cup of coffee. Also, if you're using a porcelain or other type of normal cup, its usually cool and will cool the coffee down as its poured into the cup--just something to think about.br /br /So, thumbs up on the Tassimo system, just get the Bosch and not the Braun--hopefully I've made my point.br /br /. |

| We did a lot of research before making this purchase. We weighed all the pros and cons and selected the Braun Tassimo. We are very pleased with our purchase. It works exactly as advertised and produces a great beverage in a short time. Our only issue is the lack of availability of beverages at our local stores. Of course this is not an issue with the Tassimo itself but it is inconvenient to have to order online and pay shipping. |

I have had two of these machines. Coffee is good as we like the single serving and fresh taste. First one lasted 1 yr 3 mo. Was asked to send back and was told 2 weeks for them to figure out what is wrong. Decided to buy another instead of not having coffee. Had this one 1 yr and breaks. Send back with above condition of 2 weeks and they will get back to us. 4 weeks go by no calls. Call customer service. No record of receiving it. Check UPS and package was sent. Call customer service for status and told they are looking into it and will call. 2 more weeks go by no call from service center. Call 5 days in a row bugging service center. Finally get call back telling us they found it can't fix and will send a machine within 2 weeks. Must be "The checks in the mail" as 2 weeks has come and gone. This one breaks and I'll be exploring another machine and it won't be a Tassimo. |

"Best single cup brewer I have owned!" | 2008-09-05 |

This is my third personal brewer. I own a Senseo (passable quality, decent coffee although SMALL serving unless you use a double pod and very reliable. I also own an "O - Pod which was very pricey and again - the need for a double pod for a full mug of coffee. The Tassimo (Braun Model) is the BEST personal brewer of the three, by far. The Tassimo coffee T-discs are expensive, but do make a FULL MUG of coffee using just ONE, so it evens out. Starbucks have a line of T-discs for those who like Starbuck's coffee, too.
The Tassimo makes a FULL MUG - the coffee is HOT - it isn't excessively noisy - the water reservoir is large and easy to fill. I LOVE this coffee maker.
The only negative is the waste created by the T-discs - I doubt if they are a "green" product. Maybe Tassimo can respond to that issue in future iterations.
In any event - you will not regret this purchase if your goal is a full MUG of piping hot, delicious coffee, hot chocolate or tea. Yummy! |

I have had 2 Tassimos coffee systems and many other coffee makers. The 1200 and the 1400 are wonderful. I order t-discs from Tassimo and Gevalia online. No wasted half pot of coffee thrown out when household members don't wake up at the same time. One minute to make and the coffee doesn't get stale in its packages. The coffee is delivered to my door and on my timing.
I sent my machine to college with my daughter, as the pot is in the common area, but she keeps most t-discs put away. If they want coffeee, they can buy their own discs and that is a wonderful way to share a machine without subsidizing the entire floor. One can also make hot water for soup, etc. One can remove the inner grate and place most tall mugs into it, so one may still use the steam/disbursed water catcher. The newer models don't make as much noise as the old ones, AND the company replaced one that didn't get the water hot enough, without any question! I've used mine since they hit the U.S., too.
This is the first time I felt compelled to review a consumer item! It's that good.
P.S. I use espresso discs and manually dispense more hot water. It's a good cup of coffee made at the correct temperature. |

| I have the Keurig single cup at home and the Tassimo at work and there is no comparison between the two. I love the Keurig and hate the Tassimo. The Keurig is always ready to brew with no wait. The Tassimo has to warm up and heat the water first. Plus, the Tassimo rarely correctly reads the bar code on the T-discs. I've had 4 cups of coffee today and had to manually (holding down the brew button for the duration of the brewing process) make each one with the Tassimo. In short, the Keurig is a hassle-free, coffee on demand product. The Tassimo is a wait a couple a couple minutes for water to heat up, hold down the button while the cup brews product. I would not recommend the Tassimo to anyone. |

| I can't imagine starting my day without coffee from my Tassimo machine. I have literally worn my old machine out and am buying a new one today. In about 6 months, and if it is still here at $99, I will buy another one and just keep it until I wear this one out, which I expect to. I am so happy that Super Target also carries the coffee so I can buy it whenever I need it. I love Amazon.com. They seem to have whatever I need, right in stock, and at no shipping cost if over $50. Thank you, Amazon.com!!! |

"Marginal Product, Horrible Customer Service" | 2008-08-23 |

| After reading all of the reviews I was so excited to try this machine. We have had a Senseo single cup for about 3 years and love it. (We use Java Podz for a strong, European cup of Java.) My daughter is heading off to college and is taking the Senseo with her, so I decided to see what new and improved options existed. I received the Tassimo and the coffee was basic, but nowhere near as good as what I am used to. But the real benefit of the Tassimo was that we would be able to make chai latte (which I love) and cappuccino-type drinks with the milk. Another disappointment. The milk product adds a plastic taste to the drinks; everyone in the family agreed. Finally, after the 3rd day, the machine stopped working. It wouldn't puncture the discs, so we simply got cups of hot water, and water leaking all over the counter. When I called Tassimo, they said someone would call and they would send out a box and a label to return the product. Two days later, I got a call giving me the address to which I would need to send the product back - at my expense!! No box, no label. I requested a supervisor and was given all kinds of excuses to dissuade me from speaking to one. They were "busy", they would "call me back," there was "nothing they could do." I insisted on holding, as long as it took. When I gave the name and badge number (Sheldon 601234) of the person who told me that I would get a box and label, the supervisor (Tammy, in Canada) just kept repeating, "I apologize, but I can't give you that." No matter what I said or asked, that was the robotic, repeated response. So frustrating. Even if that response didn't answer the question - she was obviously programmed to simply repeat the "policy." An empty "apology" and no help is not worth anything. So, basically, I paid about $25 for 2 cups of sub-par coffee and chai, plus all the set-up and cleaning time, not to mention the time and effort of packing up and shipping back the defective unit. Avoid Tassimo direct online at all costs, and if you STILL think this system may be for you, do yourself a favor and buy locally at a place with an excellent return policy, because odds are you will need to return it. I wish I would have paid more attention to the people who reported their unit also malfunctioned and the coffee was so-so. Instead, I focused on my fantasy perfect cappuccino which never materialized. A new, "improved" unit comes out in a week or so, "which has worked out the bugs and problems." By their own admission, they've had to redesign this. Hopefully the new system actually does work consistently and makes a better tasting cup of coffee. As for me, I'm getting another tried-and-true Senseo at half the price. |

| I did a little research before I bought a Tassimo Beverage System. One thing I found is that there are a couple different models to chose from. If the price of the TA1400 is a bit much you can find the TA1200 at Target for a reduced price. That is what I did. I called the company and asked what the difference was and she said that there really was no difference... except that the more expensive TA1400 has a built in filtration system and that you could get the same results from the TA1200 if you used filtered water. Well, I can get filtered water from my frig and that is what I have done. Works great! I will tell you that the cheaper model is not quite as fancy looking as it's more expensive brother. The difference is the lid of the water container, where the coffee comes out, and where the coffee cup sits are all black plastic instead of what you see pictured here. As far as quality... I couldn't have asked for more... I didn't even know I would like hot tea but I can't stop drinking the Black Tea and the Earl Gray not to mention the Chi Tea latte... sooooo good! |
