"Perfect Coffeemaker"

We tried several coffeemakers prior to purchasing the Cuisinart DCC-2200. The Cuisinart is absolutely the best.A great cup of coffee is supposed to be the result of using a coffeemaker and in the case of the DCC-2200 it is. The Cuisinart operates silently, quickly and without any spills when being filled. We have given these units as gifts to friends who appreciate a great cup of coffee.
"Best Coffee Maker"

I have purchased many coffee makers over the years, but this Cuisinart DCC-2200 is undoubtedly the best one yet that I've come across. It makes the best tasting coffee to my taste buds. I attribute part of this to the built in water filter. The coffee taste pretty consistent pot to pot. It also makes it hotter than other coffee pots that I've had, plus the warming plate keeps it nice and hot, hotter than other brands that I've owned. Another big plus, it's easy to clean after use. It's also a very attractive looking unit, looks nice sitting on the counter. They did a very nice job on this coffee maker.
The biggest negative to me is the clock display, it would be nice if it were larger and was lighted. Other than that, a big thumbs up.
"Broke in three weeks"

Aside from the fact that this maker broke in three weeks - just died never to start again - it makes poor coffee. When you make anything over 10 cups it tastes bitter and a bit burnt. Don't bother. Oh, and it doesn't come with a gold tone filter.
"Great if you like lukewarm coffee"

I have used this coffeemaker now for three months and I've tried varying amounts of coffee and tried many settings to make a satisfying brew. Happy to say that this coffeemaker is performing well to produce lukewarm coffee. Certainly not hot coffee. The metal carafe does well to keep the cofee lukewarm for several hours. I just wish it would make the coffee hotter. It would also probably improve the taste.
"Great Warranty!"

I purchased this coffeemaker in May of 2008 and used it heavily, minimum 2 pots a day, until it just quit. The warming plate didn't work one morning. I called service and they told me to decalcify the pot. I loaded it with water and vinegar but it didn't run through, so I contacted service again. They sent a new pot (I paid $10 for shipping) and I shipped my old pot back for the cost of UPS. Now I have a new (possibly reconditioned) pot that works great. They stand by their 3-year warranty. This coffeemaker makes the best coffee and the timer feature is wonderful when you like coffee hot and ready in the morning.
"Great Coffee - big But..."
2009-04-15

I've had the Cuisinart DCC-2200 for about 2 years now and I must say that it does make great coffee. I roast my own coffee beans and use purified water for the best taste possible. I use ten "heaping" tablespoons of freshly ground coffee for the full pot. I've also found that if I push the 1-4-cup button, it takes longer to brew but makes stronger, smoother coffee.
The problems are:
- After every brew cycle, when you lift the lid to extract the used filter/grinds, the water that has condensed on the lid drips down the back and onto the counter top. This could have been prevented if Cuisinart had made a channel in the plastic lid that would route the water back into the reservoir but instead they drilled a hole that allows the water to dump right out the back. I've measured the water that drips out each time to be a little more than 2 tablespoons. Not a problem anymore since I bought a plastic tray for the maker to sit on.
- The clock is a joke - you need a flashlight to read it.
- Needs an adjustable warming plate - or do as I've done and buy a large Ikea carafe for about $[...]. It holds the entire pot less one large mug.
All in all a great looking coffee maker that makes excellent coffee with a few design problems.
