Makes very good ice cream -- even good low fat! One suggestion: Make sure you whisk hard -- whisking vigorously makes the ice cream creamier and less grainy -- the sugar dissolves better.

| Solid feel and good finish on this machine. Performs well, and is able to make better sorbets and ice-creams than old-style maker with ice and rock salt. Batch size is reasonable, and can make several batches back-to back just fine. Only real downside is the noise - agin, quiter than our ice-and-rck salt machine, but still quite noisy. Overall, very happy with this machine to date, but might just want to put in closet/garage/bathroom while its running. |

"I Loathe this Machine" | 2008-08-24 |

| I bought this machine earlier this year because I was tired of using freezer space to keep canisters for the cheaper model frozen (and half the time they didn't freeze). What a mistake. This is a giant waste of money and a reminder that Cuinsinart isn't what it once was (in less than six months I had to replace parts on a new 14-cup food processor). Time and again the ice cream on the outside freezes, meaning the blade stops turning and most of the "ice cream" is soup. It doesn't matter what the recipe is, btw. I e-mailed Cuisinart two months ago (another company that doesn't want to hear from consumers -- check out the web site) and naturally haven't heard back. Sadly, I didn't keep the box so I could just return the whole thing. I haven't yet talked myself into the $700 Italian ice cream maker -- I'm not a professional chef -- but urge anyone thinking about this product to think again. |

| If your time is short, and whose isn't, then this is the machine for your homemade ice cream. Follow the directions, add ingredients, eat ice cream in one hour. Easy clean up. Up side, we now begin to experiment. Down side, the machine is heavy for the wife to put away. I built a special little table to store off the pantry floor. |

"Not a Quality Product from Cuisinart" | 2008-08-04 |

I'm making a batch of ice cream right now and I can't help but think what a miserable product this is. My wife purchased the Cuisinart Supreme Commercial Quality Ice Cream Maker for me as a gift for Christmas 2007 and I use it two to three times a month. Either Cuisinart's definition of commercial quality is different than mine or their standards have slipped considerably.
I started making ice cream in January and after 4 batches the motor arm burned out. I called Cuisinart's Customer Service and at first they suggested I disassemble the motor arm. I asked if this would void my warranty and was put on hold. When the agent came back she told me they would ship a replacement which arrived about 10 days later.
In June, the timer dial stopped working. It still turns the machine on but it doesn't keep time and turning it manually to Off doesn't stop the churn. I have to unplug the ice cream maker and remove the motor arm.
I assume that when I call Cuisinart again they'll either repair or replace the machine but it means paying $10 for shipping and handling and I'll be without my ice cream maker until they return it.
The Cuisinart Supreme Commercial Quality Ice Cream Maker gets 1 star from me because it does make good ice cream but the quality of this product is terrible. I expected more from Cuisinart. |

| THis was a pretty good ice cream maker, it was nice in that the compressor was part of the machine, it was rather heavy and loud and the mixer does not scrape the sides very well. The other problem I encountered was the quality of the container. When the mixture is frozen the container is difficult to release from the well and the handle is so flimzy that it comes unattached making it very difficult to remove the container of ice cream until it has warmed slightly and released. |

We ordered the Cuisinart ICE-50BC ice-cream maker after buying all other types. We started with the hand crank years and years ago, graduated to the electric bucket type, then the small ones that required pre-cooling with limited amounts of ice. Later we bought the fancy Cuisinart dual ice cream maker that required a pre-frozen container and cold ingredients. They were all a hassle. Now we have this wonderfully easy machine. You are not suppose to use warm ingredients but having some prechilled milk or sugar water is good enough. We've tossed just about everything in, from chocolate almond milk with mashed bananas to serinam cherries with egg fruit. We are all frozen dessert lovers and having a different flavor every night is great fun. My only (minor) complaints are that it is noisy (don't use it next to the table if you want to talk during dinner) and that we could easily use two containers because one container of great ice-cream dissapears too quickly. One more note was that the service and delivery time was excellent! Very fast and without any problems. Cuisinart ICE-50BC Supreme Ice Cream Maker |

"DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!" | 2008-02-06 |

Believe everything you've read in the other bad reviews! I, too, am a professional pastry chef, and find this machine completely horrifying. This is the cheapest, most overpriced piece of junk you may ever come across. The motor mechanism for churning the ice cream is not a built-in part of the machine-- it is that external arm you see on the top of the machine. This "motor" clips onto a very cheap plastic dasher (the same cheap dasher you will find in the $50 freeze-the-bowl models) through a hole in the lid. This means: a)the cheap motor will become overloaded the minute a mixture stiffens, but long before the ice cream is done, b)at some point with any decent amount of use the motor will burn out altogether, c)the hole in the lid lets refrigeration escape. Another thing to point out is that the removable bowl is made of very thin, cheap metal. The machine chills the bowl, and in the process, cooling power is lost. It is loud as a jet engine, takes about 45-50 minutes to make a batch, looks and feels very flimsy, and creates grainy, icy products that are seriously no better than you would make with an inexpensive $50 machine. If you don't want to spend $700 on a serious Italian gelato maker, just get a freeze-the-bowl machine with an extra bowl and you will make similar, if not better quality ice creams and sorbet. |
