"4,5 star citrus presser" | 2008-08-29 |

I was about to rate it 5 stars, but a few minor details could be improved: There should be a way to keep the handle in the low position to store the machine under cabinets (it is a little bit to high). The "coarse" grid does not let pulp go through Big grapefruits can't be squeezed completely
But very easy to clean, very efficient, silent, beautiful. Heavy, though... |

| Just received my juicer today. After juicing about 20 lemons, nothing. Let it sit for about half hour, then worked again. Juiced another 15 lemons, then nothing again. I don't think they should call this "industrial strength". It appears the motor can handle only so much, then has to rest for a while. Think twice if you juice more than a few pieces of fruit at a time... |

It looks great. But mine is dead out of the box. This is the first sign that quality control on an otherwise well made product is not good. I would not expect a $170 juicer to not even work out of the box. I read the instructions several times, because I thought for sure it was my fault, but everything is assembled properly but the motor doesn't even spin. I'll return it and try another. But be prepared if you order this online, having to do a return for one could be pain. Very disappointing. Hopefully I can report better results with another one. I was going to order their multi-speed juicer as well, but I think I'll make sure one of these works long term first. Update - After a week the replacement one arrived. Yeah. It only worked for 3 seconds, motor stopped, and now NOTHING again. I called Breville, and they were not very helpful. The best they could offer was to ship it to them. I think a bad batch of these has gone out and they have poor quality control. I'm afraid to buy another one or any of their products at this point. For this amount of money, the product should be MUCH more durable. Very disappointing. |

This orange juice squeezer is a strong, reliable piece of equipment from one of the top companies which makes dentures and eye-glass holders in America. Can be used throughout the day to squeeze oranges, apples, and moist hog skin; it might look like something out of a Sci-Fi film but it sure does the job! Look for the free, 2 years supply of melons contest included with the "how to hook up to your refrigerator" instructions.

Excellent purchase. Powerful motor makes juicing large quantity of oranges a snap. Easy to clean up following juicing.
Great improvement over previous juicers owned - not Breville. Those were slower and hence juicing was avoided or was a chore. |

| I juice my own oranges several times a week, and after my pathetic Cuisinart juicer gave up the ghost, I knew I needed something a little more robust. I read the reviews, and this looked like the best, so I took a deep breath, gritted my teeth and sprang for it. Yes, it's an obscene amount of money for a citrus juicer, but as a friend said, it will probably last a lifetime. It's that solid. And if you use it a lot, it's worth it. I love how quiet it is, how fast and thoroughly it juices (except with very pulpy fruit--it doesn't particularly like those). I have one or two minute quibbles: Because it doesn't have a reverse mechanism, there's often some juice left among the pulp in the strainer, with no effective way of extracting it, and the spindle and adjacent depression in the base can get sticky, and are a bit hard to clean. Then again, they don't come in contact with the fruit, so it probably doesn't matter that much. Once you make the decision to spend this kind of money on a juicer, I can't imagine that you won't love it. |

| We have used a basic citrus juicer from Target for years, and it's fine for a few oranges or grapefruits. But, we needed something more powerful to press several pieces at a time. We tried a fancy Jack Lalane juicer that was overly complicated and an overkill. When we got the Breville it was "love at first press." The solid construction and simple design make this item a real winner. It's easy to operate and squeezes maximum juice out. The parts come apart easily to make cleaning a snap. We love it! |
