| Haven't used this slow cooker more than half a dozen times with good results, until our last usage, where we heard a resounding CRACK-after removing the pot roast and veggies-discovered a long crack running from the bottom and up the side of the ceramic pot. |

I have been using the Kitchenaid Slow Cooker for almost a year. Bought it because of the programmable cooking options. Found small crack on the first pot after dozen meals. Company replaced canister. Cracked again... Company replace the whole unit, and after one meal, bigger crack. I just feel there is an intrinsic problem with how the ceramic pot is fired. Made in the USA? I don't think so. Customer service for Kitchenaid was very helpful... |

| I have been using this model now for six months and here is what I found. Knowing the ceramic bowl is large even temperature heating is very important. I try to get the bowl centered as much as possible especially side to side where there is most play. Get the items close to room temperature and place things like onions or carrots under large pieces of meat to keep from having a cold spot in the middle of the bowl. When starting I use the Banquet setting to Low after time to allow things to come up to temp gradually. The only big problem is it runs too hot! I too use Banquet to slow cook or simmer as anything above that will boil out the moisture in less than six hours. WHY KA? |

| Based on the recommendations from Cook's Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen, I compared The KitchenAid and All-Clad slow cookers. I decided on the KitchenAid in onyx because I liked the look. Because of warnings from some of the reviewers re:cracking ceramic inserts, first time use was water only on high for 2 hours...testing...testing...all was OK. Next, a bed of onions, an herb and garlic rubbed pork roast and a sour cherry glaze. After 2 hours the house smelled great, then I heard a loud crack. I pulled the insert out and checked the bottom...hairline crack. I decided to take a chance and finished cooking the roast.(Delish!) Cleaned up the crock and the crack was visible on the inside too. So this one got sent back to Amazon(and they make it SO easy to do that!)I didn't want the same experience of one reviewer who went through 3 ceramic inserts...obviously there's a quality control problem...shame on Kitchenaid for not recalling these...they're a safety hazard! So, I just ordered the All-Clad and am crossing my fingers. Next test will be Mexican Pork Roast with Tomatillo Sauce. I'll let you know... |

"KitchenAid crockpot Awesome" | 2008-08-17 |

A little pricey compared to some, but well worth it! Have used often for various menues, ie: soups, pulled pork, pot roast, stews. FYI The best= Hoppin' John recipe: 1 large ham hock and 1 tablespoon olive oil to braise on all sides,1 cup onion chopped, 1 cup celery chopped, 1 cup green pepper chopped, 2 tablespoon chopped garlic, 1 pound black-eyed peas (or field peas)boil then simmer for an hour drain and rinse, 1 quart chicken stock, Bay leaf, 1 teaspoon dry thyme leaves, Salt, black pepper, and cayenne, 3 cups white rice. Put all but rice in crock pot and cook on high for four hours, add rice and cook one more hour. Just before you add rice you can remove ham hock and separate meat from bone and return meat with the rice. Awesome tasting dish! I've given the KitchenAid a good workout in past year with no problems. |

| Great product with wonderful controls. My old slow cooker kept cooking the food even though it was supposed to be on warm only! My only 'complaint' is that I wish it were a little smaller in size. 7 quarts is VERY large. Great for soups but too big for many things I want to do and it simply takes up alot of storage space in my kitchen |

| Took a chance on ordering this due to the high number of good comments I've seen, and the lack of anything else that seems comparable. There have been many complaints about cracking liners ... thus far we have not had that problem. We've used this about 4 times in the past month with great result ... my wife really enjoys it. She loves the timer and the different heat settings, and they were very easy to become familiar with. One negative comment from her, though, is that the liner is pretty heavy, which makes cleanup a little more difficult. But we cook in pretty big quantity so we needed to get this large unit. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of all the negative comments about liners breaking ... I still have my fingers crossed. Get one if you feel lucky! |

"So far, very happy with this slow cooker!" | 2008-06-04 |

I'll admit, given the many reviews of people having trouble with their crocks breaking, I feel like I might be jinxing myself offering up a positive review, but so far, I am very happy with this crock pot. I love the size and shape of it, though I will say that I can see it being a bit large for some recipes. I tend to cook larger cuts of meats and larger recipes so that I can freeze some, so I enjoy the larger size. The shape of the crock is wonderful, in my opinion, for holding larger items and roasts.
This crock has not scorched once for me, and I love that. My old crock pot (the typical Rival) scorched everytime and always needed a good long soak before being cleaned out. This one can basically be wiped clean!
I love the various settings and the timer is a feature I am truly enjoying. The only reason that I am not giving this cooker 5 stars is the lid. It serves its purpose and I have not had any issues cooking any of the dishes I have made, but the lid could definitely be reworked to fit better and provide a better seal.
I have only had this product for a bit over a month and have used it a handful of times, so hopefully I will continue to have good luck with it and not end up with a cracked insert, but it has been a wonderful addition to my kitchen thus far. I love the look of it, and every dish I made has turned out beautifully. I have and will continue to handwash the insert over using the dishwasher, just as a precaution.
I would definitely recommend this slow cooker! |

| Despite the reviews reporting cracks in the pot, I bought this because of the multiple settings, the size and the good experience I've had with Kitchenaid. Lo and behold, I used it for the first time yesterday and within 10 or 15 minutes of starting my spaghetti sauce, I heard a loud crack. You guessed it - the pot had cracked on the side. Earth to Kitchenaid - you have a problem here! |
