At first it was fine- a little slow to toast, but very even toasting, etc.
And it looks great on the counter in my designer kitchen.
But at 12 months and 1 week, the timer had the same problem that many other reviewers mentioned- bell stops working, then the heater goes off, and worst, back on!
In DeLonghi's defense, they agreed to have it repaired. (After a little negotiating)
And it worked again. This time for 10 months, when the replacement timer did the SAME THING!
And again, after some negotiation, DeLonghi has agreed to repair it. Again!
So, Maybe DeLonghi has learned its lesson on customer service, but they either should recall this thing as a fire hazard, or redesign the darn timer!

We bought it for it's advertised features and looks that match our other appliances. We have had it for several years with no mechanical problems like others here have posted about. Like most toaster ovens, the exterior can get hot to the touch, so you do need to keep it away from little hands or other things that could get burned.
It works well as an oven for making biscuits etc. The crumb tray doubles as a baking tray and is easily removed for cleaning. Its large capacity holds a full-sized dinner plate and its warm setting does a good job at keeping food hot. We use this feature all the time when making a large batch of pancakes or waffles for the family. Keeps things warm before the kid's feeding frenzy begins.
Its large capacity easily holds 6 slices of mid-sized bread. But it is very S-L-O-W as a toaster. Very very S-L-O-W. And we frequently have to put it through a double cycle of medium to dark setting to even get the bread browned. The mechanical timer is very loud and sounds like an old-fashioned windup alarm clock (maybe that is a feature to let you know it's still toasting?).
Overall we're satisfied with it. The only real drawback we've found is just how slow it is as a toaster. They don't call it de-LONG-hi for nothing! ;-)

Whoever has ranked this 5 stars has probably only had their toaster oven for a month or two. There are serious problems with this oven. It looks beautiful, and that's the only thing going for it. I can add my voice to those reviews that say it should be recalled. There have been several times where the timer knob keeps going past the "ding" and turns completely on for hours -- a real fire hazard. Additionally, we've had the middle knob (timer) break on us. They look like nice stainless steel knobs and they are cheap plastic that don't do well with temperature extremes. We had our first one replaced in 2009 and now this one has just broken on us. Why does amazon sell this garbage?

I purchased several of these ovens for our breakroom at work. They work great, but are not exactly a commercial grade. I have searched but have not found a better oven for the price. Easy to clean and operate.

I have only purchased Delonghi toaster ovens my entire life, I have never needed another brand. I felt they were the kings of toaster ovens ... I replaced an older model not for any other reason than it was starting to look "old" in our modern kitchen. Very satisfied with it, highly recommend!
