I've had one of these, an 8-qt. aluminum pot, for many years. I decided to indulge in the stainless steel because tomatoes and apples can not be cooked in aluminum pots. Definitely worth the money.

If the price looks right to you, then buy it. It is beautifully made, but not so heavy as to add useless weight to 12 quarts of water. We own the Multi-clad PRO (heavier version) for our other pots and pans, but this (less expensive, and LIGHTER) one is better for its purpose. Its purpose is to boil water... not very complicated. Strongly built, nice finish, works GREAT. Would make a nice wedding gift if it is in the price range appropriate for the wedding you will attend. If you don't like the bride nor groom, just buy them one made from aluminum ;-).

We bought this to replace an enamel coated pasta/steamer. The Cuisinart set is constructed well for the price, but be warned that the polished surfaces on the exterior will scratch very easily. The interiors have a brushed finish so don't show scratches as much.

This was the 2nd choice of America's Test Kitchen. The first choice was about $350. I am very pleased with this steamer. I have used it to cook mustard greens, boil corn on the cob, and cook down apples for apple butter. It is well-made with a heavy bottom. It stays shiny like new, cleans up easily, and is so useful for larger cooking needs. Since buying this I have also purchased a complete set of pots by Cuisinart. Very good quality cookware.
