"Dream System, Installation nightmare! But great sound!" | 2008-07-25 |

I've read many of the reviews here and only have to add the following:
1. My wife and I are retards as it took us over 3 hours to build this thing out!!! Sony could have designed the construction intelligently but chose to use sub-standard scews which, well, basically screw you over. Very easy to de-thread the screws and we almost ruined one of the stands as they didn't screw in or out easily...
2. Speaker wires are cheap but at least color coded on one end for ease of set-up.
3. All small pieces, like screws and washers, don't come in one simple bag. Had to look for the second set which had falled out during unpacking (remember,m we're obviously retards!!!) :)
4. Building the speakers is almost moronic, specially the back surround sound ones. Again, design could have been way better...
5. Instructions are poor and not in great order.
On the plus side:
IT SOUNDS GREAT!!! Short of an issue we have with one of the rear speakers (I suspect a wire isn't in all the way, which requires us to open it up again), it all worked well... Very powerful system with geat sound quality.
Actually, we've had many systems and I've built many computers. We're not really morons, just a little challenged when there are many small parts that don't fit all that well...
If you like building things, this should be good for you!
Next time, I'll have someone build it for us and save three hours of valuable time. |

Finally upgraded my SONY SAVA system of 12 years after a lot of research and considering other brands, I am very happy I stayed with SONY. The set up instructions could have been written better, but once you get one speaker done, the rest is easy. Match the color of the cord to the color of the label on back of speaker and you are on your way. Once set up the sound is very good. The wireless rear speakers are awesome. I tested out the system with the movie "U-571" & the house was shaking.... puurrrfeect!
You can spend a lot of money on sound systems, and it was a challenge to find anything this good under $1,000.
Next up is Apple TV for movie downloads. |

"Very Nice All-inclusive Unit" | 2008-06-28 |

| Sony is a brand that demonstrates solid quality all of the time. The DAV-FX900W kept true to that. The unit as some have said does load and change disks slow but overall this would be the only flaw I've seen. Very nice sound, easy installation and fair amount of customizations. For someone who's looking for a nice unit that's easy to use and offers great sound, this is for you. |

| This has been a good fit for our home and with the price reduced is a good buy. The sound is fine for recreational and not particularly savvy users like me and you can move around the back wireless speakers so that they can be used in adjacent rooms. Its easy to set up and the slow change of the DVD doesn't really bother me. |

"Great system...takes a while to assemble though" | 2008-03-29 |

| I purchased Sony DAV-FX900 last month and am very pleased with the performance. Setup was a bit difficult and I think Sony could have done a better job with instruction manual. I still ended up fitting the speakers with wrong color coded wires (didn't want to open it again to redo it). This is my first HT system and overall I would give a thumbs up. |

Great sound and dvd quality. Took a little longer than expected to install. A lot more parts to install than expected. We had to figure it out on our own to install all the cables and wiring. Would've helped if they had an easy 1-2-3 install guide but their guide was not very user friendly.
Nonetheless the finished product looks good and sounds great.
A great deal for a solid brand at $440!

I absolutely love Amazon and use it for anything from designer shoes, bags and watches to Electronics. I still can't believe I paid $440 for this home theater system in December 07 (I'd pay full price for it). Superb quality - looks and sounds fantastic. I have to admit, I'm no DJ - but I play piano so my opinion should not be discounted entirely.
Assembly was easy, although a bit time consuming for my husband. I connected/calibrated the entire system myself with no help - just read the instructions. Wireless surround speakers work beautifully - that was my key criterion for purchasing this stylish-looking system.
I have the receiver connected to my brand new plasma HDTV with an HDMI cable. I realized I needed an optical audio cable (purchased separately) to hear TV programming in 5.1 surround... |

"Good system for the money!" | 2008-01-07 |

Let me start out by saying the system sounds great!
The loading of the DVD's is a bit slow but not a big issue for us. The only issue we have that I don't think most people would realy care much about is that I wish the stands for the back speakers were just a little taller as the bottom part of the speaker doesn't go above our couch and I feel like it's blocking a little bit of the sound. I purchased this system because of the price and wireless capability which is wonderful.
I would recommend this system to anyone who needs a decent wireless rear speaker system. |
