"A nice machine so far"

So far so good.
Printer: Easy to set up. Super fast print speed. (At least to someone who is accustomed to a ink jet printer.) The black and white rendering of color print and pictures is not grainy. From running through a roller and being heated the paper is no longer perfectly flat. It has a slight warp and wrinkle but this does not bother me. I would feel that it is perfectly acceptible for presentations as well as my own printing of recipes and recipts and the like.
Copier: Same as above for the quality etc. This is the first copier I have owned and so far I am very pleased.
Scanner: The scanner was a little finicky to set up. It seemed to do pretty well and be fairly reliable scanning at 300 dpi but if I bumped the resolution any higher (even to 400) it would stop scanning and lock up the machine. The only way to get it unlocked was to close it from the task manager and unplug and replug the USB cable. We went all the way through the troubleshooting section of the manual and nothing seemed to work. I had it connected by a very long USB cable (around 8 ft I believe) and my hubby suggested that sometimes there is data loss in extra-long cables and I try connecting it by a short 3ft cable. This seemed to solve all problems. I have now scanned over 100 images (I couldn't even scan one before) and it has caused me no problems, even scanning at 5000+ dpi. Also, I couldn't tell by the product description but you can scan as high as 9600 dpi.
Scanner software: It took a bit of work to figure out the software and it's little quirks. The main thing I want the scanner for is to scan cards, child artwork, and memorabilia for my digital scrapbooks. Therefore, the high-resolution scan was extremely important to me. The short story is that under the advanced tab of the scanning software, you can set your size and resolution. The problem is that there is no pre-defined parameter that emcompasses the entire scan plate. If you set it to "flexible" it will not scan at 9600dpi. Because of this I had to experiment by trial and error with the parameters. I discovered that 5000x6850 worked to just about take the entire plate (minus maybe 1/8") I'm sure I could fiddle with it more to get it completely exact but I am happy with this result.
Fax: I am choosing not to use the fax at this time.
Overall: I am pleased with this machine. Once I ironed out the kinks it works nicely and has not caused me any more problems. I would recommend it as long as you use a short connecting cable. I think that there was just so much information to send at the higher resolutions that the long cable couldn't handle it. (BTW I had used this same cable with my ink-jet printer and it worked fine so I know there wasn't a defect in the cable itself.)
"Good but unusable for Macs"

The printer has worked well. The only drawback is that there are no Mac drivers for it. I'm in an office setting with both PCs and Macs, so the Macs can't use this printer.
I have been very happy with this printer. Works great. Only complaint is that it doesn't do double-sided very well. EVerything else works amazingly!!
"NOT compatible with Mac OS X"

I bought the all-in-one printer to use with my predominately Mac OS X environment. There is absolutely no Mac driver support (not even just for printing) with this model. I search on the internet and on Canon website without any success. It's hard to believe that a USB printer will not work on Mac at all in this day and age. The Amazon website only mentioned the OS compatibility after you click on "more technical information", which I missed when ordering... My rating is for the lack of OS X support rather than for the quality of the product, which I think is adequate for the price. If you are using Apple computers, look for another model.
"After year passed - garbage!!!"

You live, you learn. You got what you pay. After a year of light use, copy paper starts getting ripped.Does not make any sense to fix. Repairs cost more than value of this machine.
I bought this printer for $80 - it's quick to set up, easy to install and unlike many of the HP devices, the driver package isn't too large. The speed of printing is really quite remarkable, and even from the standby mode it will produce pages within about 10 seconds. I wish there was a document feeder on the scanner so I could scan multiple pages more easily, but otherwise the scanner works without any issues.
This replaced my old HP All-in-one which was problematic for years - apart from endless software problems, the unit literally drank the ink refills and printing was becoming expensive. This machine has reasonably priced toners (especially if you use third-party refills), so I can finally print out 20-page documents without feeling my wallet being drained.
The build quality is a little flimsy in places, but for $80 this is really not an issue, especially since the printed output looks great. I'd highly recommend this unit on price alone, but having the scanning and fax capability is an extra plus.
