I purchased this FM transmitter a week ago and I love it! I followed the instructions from Eric Williams and it worked out very well. Easy to follow and I got excellent sound quality when i set the radio to 87.9. I have used 2 other transmitters in the past which cost around 3x the price of this one or more and they were not as clear. Since I live in San Francisco interference is high, but with this Griffin model, I have not had to change the station yet and the sound is crystal clear. Its not the same as listening to a CD, but it is very close. Definitely a great purchase - cheap and gives great sound quality!
My only warning is that the charger might not work with the newest ipod touch. I have an ipod video and it charges, but my friend tried using it with her touch and it did now work.
This thing works fine as a transmitter. But, my iPod nano says "Charging is not supported for this accessory" so no charging is done. Otherwise it works fine.

This was a gift for my sister. Any AM FM transmitters seem to have a bit of static. It works for its purpose, but I guess could be better.

This unit does an OK job, but I get lots of interference and static as I drive around, which is pretty annoying. I do live in the LA area, so it's impossible to find three consecutive open frequencies, and while 87.9 is not used here, there is a 50-trillion-watt Mexican station that makes that slot unusable for me as well. I'd say if you're in a huge metropolitan area, find a different solution. That said, mono works a LOT better than stereo -- at least I can enjoy the music for about 90% of my commute now.
Also, just a caveat for those with a new-generation iPod Touch: The charging feature doesn't work with it. The mfg. does not claim Touch compatibility, [...]. Hey, a $10 lesson.
