This is a great product.
It works by not only transmitting your ipod (or other source) music over an unused frequency but also disconnects your car's antenna from your radio at the same time. That way there's even less chance for a stray signal to be picked up to compete with your music.
The sound quality seems very good to me and my kids say they can't tell a difference between what they hear from their car's speakers and what the music sounds like through the ipod earbuds.
I have installed one of these in each of my two kid's cars. The hardest part was finding out how to remove the trim and radio without breaking anything. Once the radio was pulled out for access to the antenna, installing the device was simple and straight forward.
The only complaint I have is that the length of wire that connects the aux.jack and antenna kill switch to the modulator is too short. If your going to mount the jack right next to the radio it's not a problem. On my son's car that's what I did because he has a little shelf right under his radio (89 Volvo 240) to set his ipod on. On my daughters 99 Chev Prizm however there is no place close to the radio to place the ipod. I mounted the jack and antenna kill switch on the console next to the e-brake. I barely had enough wire to reach. I was forced to hang the modulator down by the gas pedal and stuff it behind the front of the console moulding. If I had had a few more inches I could have zip tied it neatly behind the radio and just the wires would have been behind the moulding.
I would have given this device 5 stars if enough wire had been provided, but that .0001 cents worth of wire shortage was a real pain. As cheap as the wire is they should give a couple extra FEET so you can mount things correctly. Other than that issue however I am very pleased with how well it works.

Installed this in my 2004 ford focus. Works great, the sound is very good. I also installed an ipod adapter to charge and give sound to this wired fm modulator.

This is an awesome product. I was a little unsure about it at first because I was afraid of static interference, but I hear no static at all. It works great with my Iphone 3G!!

i am very satisfied with the sound, most of the time, but sometimes there is still static. i was under the impression from the description that when it was switched on, the antenna input was turned off, so that there would be no static, but i still get some. also, it only came with spanish instructions in the box. this was ok because i didnt need them anyway, but it might be a problem for some people. also, the switch only came connected to two wires, but to get the light inside it to work, you need to attach another wire and ground it, and switch two of the wires. the light can also become hot after being on for a long time, so it might be good to leave it disconnected. i got a cable with it to connect to dock port for improved audio quality and so that it charges, and it works great with that.[...]
Great product. Sure I'd like a new amp in the car etc etc, but for a cheap solution to now be able to play my iphone 3g, this rocks. Team it with a vent clip and run the wire out of the vent, and you've got a pretty clean install.

This product is wonderful. I think most of the bad reviews are from people who live in the city, the competition for radio bands is understandable. But if you remove your antenna, live in the suburbans or country, this product is amazing. Not as perfect as CD quality, but who cares, if you can find it for less than $30, buy it!
