Do not buy this wine fridge! It is the loudest of my 4 cellars and now it has stopped working after 8 months. I hope I caught my cabs in time! If you have one already, make sure you check the temperature everyday.
Look elsewhere if you are shopping for a new one.

"WORST PRODUCT EVER -- breaks time and time again" | 2008-05-03 |

| This is my FOURTH cuisinart wine cellar. I had 3 of the 9 bottle ones in the span of less than 1.5 years. The first one leaked water. The second one had the fan burn out and it heated up all of the wine to about 85 degrees -- found this when I returned from being away on vacation. The third one's fan also broke. Cuisinart has HORRIBLE customer service and refused to upgrade, even when I said I'd pay the difference. Crate & Barrel, however, was phenomenal and they exchanged the defective 9 bottle for the 11 bottle. I had the 11 bottle wine cellar for less than 1 month before it started to leak water on the bottom. Do NOT buy this product or you will be sorely disappointed & will have to spend time & return shipping costs to exchange time after time. |

"DO NOT BUY THIS WINE CELLAR!" | 2008-02-25 |

| We first received our wine cellar as an anniversary gift from our kids. It lasted less than at year, using it completely according to manufacturer's instructions. The unit began vibrating, the motor burned out and left our kitchen smelling like smoke, and the wine "chilled" at 77 degrees. We shipped it back, at a cost of $55, and received a new one July 2007. In February 2008, the same thing happened - the unit began to vibrate, we noticed a burned smell in the kitchen and the thing died. In trying to get a refund, I was told first they would send me a new one. I told them it is a hazard and I don't want one in my home. They want me to spend more money to send the defective one back (it's heavy) and they will issue a letter or credit. We will see... |

| I am not able to store wine very long, so it just got in the way. Looked nice. Now I dry cure sausage in it. the 60 degree temperature is perfect. The broken door now adds condensation helping to keep a constant 70 degree humidity. My first batch of salami was flawless. (Recipes from Polcyn's Charcuterie book) |

...with most of what's gone before. i'm a busy person, so i haven't written many reviews if at all. i write this now to warn you away from this product, and any other similarly designed product from cuisinart. when we received this as a gift, it worked great, but eventually gave out. it will not cool below 62 or so, which is way too warm for the sav.blancs we enjoy in the summer. i have not tried to blow out the vent, but i cannot seriously believe this is a problem; there is no discernable dust afloat. yes i know dust is everywhere, but micro-particles should NOT kill a well-designed product, which evidently this is not. So continue with your search, and READ the reviews first. |

"CWC-900: Nice, but not up to usual Cuisinart standards." | 2007-09-10 |

I bought this cellar for my fiance about 6 months ago. Asthetically, its very nice and goes well with our other stainless appliances. It fits neatly on the counter-top under the cabinets. It holds and chills 11 bottles of wine comfortably. My fiance really enjoys showing off her "Private Reserve Cellar" to friends and family. However, it is not without troubles.
The cooling ability has been fine, so far. We keep our house @74*F and since my fiance typically drinks red wines, we set the cellar temp @58*F (I think, I honestly haven't touched the temp since finding a happy spot a few months ago.)
The cooling fan runs according to demand and so long as its kept clean (blowing it out with canned air, once a month has worked fine for me) the noise isn't an issue. However, if the fan bearings begin to wear, it will probably get louder.
This cellar doesn't have a compressor like a traditional fridge. It uses a thermo-electric heat-sink device(Peltier Assembly) to cool the chamber. Ours has done fine to date. However, I'm leery of this cooling method's reliability/durability having replaced many heat-sink fans over the years of working on electronics. Based on other reviews I've read, my apprehension may be well founded.
To date, I've found one problem that seems to be getting worse. The chamber is collecting condensation. Inside at the rear right corner, the temp probe constantly drips condensation. Its to the point that it pools in the bottom of the chamber and unless its wiped up every other day, it will run along the bottom and finally out from around the door. The fact that this condensation is A: pooling to begin with and B: can leak out around the bottom of the door, has led me to believe that the door seal may be defective. However, I can find no flaws in the gasket itself and it seems to seal fairly well when I close the door. I can find no play in the door hinges to cause a poor seal either.
I emailed Cuisinart thru their website and told them of my condensation issue. They responded fairly quickly, within a week, that some condensation is normal, but that mine is excessive. They told me call Cuisinart Customer Service (I haven't done this because I dread calling Customer service no matter the company) and supply them with the unit's Serial Number and reference the emails I already had and they would replace my unit for free. Again, I haven't done this yet, but its high on my list of things to do.
The cooling method and the excessive condensation are why I give this unit 3 stars. From what I'm reading in other reviews and Cuisinart easily telling me to just call with the serial number for a replacement, Cuisinart may have identified a design/quality control flaw and the newer units may now live up to Cuisinart standard. I can't honestly say, yet. We'll see :-) |

"Nice, but it has some faults" | 2007-07-18 |

I have had this for about 6 months now and have been pleased with the product. It does a good job of keeping my wines in the 55 degree range. However, just this week, I came home and noticed that the LED display was reading 77 degrees.
Oh no. After having read the other reviews on here, I thought my unit was headed toward the local landfill. However, I decided to play around with it and see if I could figure out what was wrong. As it turned out, the fan on the bottom right-hand side of the unit was not spinning. I noticed that it was particulary dusty and used a can of compressed air to blow off the dust. Much to my surprise, all kinds of dust came flying out of the vents on the top right-hand side of the unit.
Evidently, the lower fan is an intake fan to circulate air across the thermoelectric cooling unit inside. Once I blew the dust away, the fan started spinning and the unit began cooling again. Personally, I see this as a design flaw, but luckily one that is easy to work around. What really bothers me is that my unit sits on my kitchen counter and is not in a particularly dusty area. I can only imagine how fast the dust would have built up had the unit been sitting on the floor somewhere.
So, if you are going to buy this unit, beware of its shortcomings. When it works, it does its job well. Just be sure to periodically blow out the dust on the intake fan on the side of the unit and it should offer many years of dependable service. |

| I gave it 3 stars because mine hasn't failed yet, but I'm unimpressed with design and I don't have a lot of confidence it will last. It's Peltier cooler based (i.e. no compressor) and requires 1 of 2 characteristics: either a large heatsink (which is a bit more expensive but is more reliable) or a smaller heatsink and a fan. Unfortunately, they chose the smallest heatsink and the fan pretty much runs constantly, which shortens the life. If you don't mind the sound room fan on high, than this fan won't bother you, but I can hear it a room away. Hopefully, it will last longer than some of the other reviewers units. |
