"Decent (expensive) image printing - When it prints" | 2008-07-05 |

This printer is a complete ink hog. While I am not a fan of spending so much money on ink, my major complaint about this aspect, is that for such a thirsty printer, it uses extremely small ink cartridges. This means having to change them entirely too often, and doing your best to keep spares around.
The other annoyance is the paper handling. It regularly says that there is no paper, even though there is plenty of paper sitting there, sometimes I am forced to mess with the paper and press okay for each and every sheet. Occasionally it sucks in two pages. Sometimes it doesn't suck in a page, but proceeds to "print" anyway, which is extra frustrating considering what an ink hog it is. All of this is with approved paper, and the correct paper type selected in the properties.
However, when it has ink and feeds the paper correctly, it does make nice looking prints.
It definitely has not been worth the money, time and hassle cost overall, and I wish I had chosen a different printer. |

I bought this printer 12/2006 based on the above reviews. I've loved the printer up until this week. Now the paper simply won't feed properly and jams. Canon's help site says for this problem clean the roller. I've done that many times now to no avail. Their next advice is take it to a dealer. Well since there isn't a dealer for hundreds of miles from me that's a silly option for me.
Due to the fact that I have new print cartridges in the printer and some to spare, I'll probably buy another used one to see me through the ink. I'm disappointed and can't bare the thought of starting to review printers again. |

"Prints wonderful pictures!" | 2008-01-21 |

| I bought this to replace a previous PIXMA model. This one prints faster and looks better than the previous one and supports the newer inks from Canon that are supposed to last 100 years. The only issue I've had with it is it saying that I have two Photo Cyan cartridges in it, when I've only put the cartridges in that came with it. It doesn't always say this, just occasionally. And sometimes it will complain that it doesn't recognize the Photo Cyan cartridge. I'm still using the ink cartridges that came with the printer, so I'm hoping that when I go to buy new ones this will take care of the problem. I've had similar issues before with other printers and it just turned out to be something weird with one cartridge and the new ones worked flawlessly. But, it's still a great printer! I wouldn't buy anything other than Canon printers after the last two PIXMAs I've owned! |

"Great photo printer" | 2008-01-10 |

| I purchased this ink jet printer because my laser printer makes poor quality photo images. After owning both HP and Lexmark "photo" printers, this one beats them all for image quality. The colors are true and free of the typical streaks from many printers. The only downside is that it uses 6 individual ink cartridges that are low capacity and pricey. You can, however, just replace the individual cartridges as they run out of ink. I tried non-Canon, less expensive cartridges and they do NOT work. A big PLUS is that it has two paper feeds, so you can load both regular and photo paper and decide which to use when setting up the print properties. You can save a lot of ink and photo paper by prining drafts on plain paper first, without having to switch paper manually.I recommend this printer if you want extremely high quality photo prints at a bit higher cost per print, but from a reasonably priced printer. |

"Good (while it lasted) - great customer service" | 2007-11-15 |

| My printer lasted approximately six months before succumbing to "error 5100" messages. The error prevented the printer from completing print jobs and Google research suggested "error 5100" is a catchall for a variety of issues. I contacted Canon and a simple diagnostic suggested I had an encoder problem (something to do with the printer's ribbon). Canon's telephone representative told me I was the first person he spoke with who had this problem with this model. Unfortunately, there was no way for me to fix the printer myself, but since Canon has a one-year warrantee, they allowed me to either bring the printer to a store for repairs (Canon would pay the bill) or receive a refurbished printer via UPS. The refurbished option was a lot more convenient and "refurbished" is a broad term...technically, a product returned to Canon because the exterior box is damaged is "refurbished." Just three business days later, the refurbished printer arrived and it works well (and shows absolutely no signs of previous use or damage...I have a feeling it is overstock). Canon even gave me 6 BRAND NEW ink cartridges (a ~$70 value), a new power cable and all the CDs and documentation. Additionally, they gave me a prepaid UPS sticker so all I needed to do was stick my damaged printer in their box and bring it to the UPS store. So although I'm disappointed the printer broke after 6 months of light to moderate use, I'm very impressed with Canon's customer service. As for the printer...the photos I print always look pretty good and match what is on the computer monitor. Just be sure to always check your printer settings before printing...if you're printing on glossy photo paper or matte paper or want better quality/worse quality, you need to enter this information in the print dialog window before confirming the print job. |

"Canon Pixma great choice." | 2007-10-02 |

| Recently, after researching several types of printers, cost of ink, and photo capabilities, I wavered between this printer and the HP Photo printer. What helped me make my decision was the individual inks, 5, for this printer. Some have all colors in one cartridge and that seemed wasteful if only one color became low. The HP I was looking at, had come out with tanks so that it was individual also, but I thought the print quality was rated very high on the Canon Pixma. My choice has turned out to be very satisfactory for me. The printer is the quietest I have ever seen, very fast, photos are completed very quickly and the color is just great. The photo paper is excellent and I compared it to stock that was being used in some I had sent away for and judged color and thickness of photo paper was improved. I have a 35mm camera which I had disks from, and having these on the Windows XP computer, I made beautiful prints. I was very pleased with normal printing and feel that I made a very good choice. I would certainly recommend the product based on the period of time I have used it. |

| After weeks of checking out printers, I decided to Go with the CanoniP6700D. I had always had Epson, but for reliability and speed, the Canon is heads above Epson. I print all my own photos and am very pleased with the results on a variety of papers. My experience with Adorama was smooth and reliable. I will deal with this company again. |
