The idea of a backlit keyboard intrigued me. This one initially was great. It has a smooth touch. It is great to use in the dark. However, and this is a BIGGIE, the paint has totally worn off most of the keys and the backlight has gone out. The keys started wearing out after several weeks of use. Now a few months later, the paint is almost totally worn away on 27 of the keys, making them totally illegible. Good thing I am a touch typer. Today the light went out which prompted me to finally write a review. The keyboard now looks like junk. It still has a smooth touch but for the money, there should have been more testing done. The manufacturer and the store where I bought this were totally unresponsive to my complaints. I can't believe the good reviews this keyboard got. I am extremely disappointed.

Saitek Eclipse's individuality is proven by a full sized layout unlike most other similar keyboards, distinct key illumination which lite up each key the whole way through, and stealth-like typing that makes this powerful and convenient keyboard a seller. The standard "wrist-rest" is an added plus along with the volume control right over the num-pad. This keyboard is all around great and an even better catch!

This was my first gaming keyboard. I went from an OLD Dell keyboard to this. Since red is my favorite color and I HATE the blue LED's, I saw this one. At the low price, you CAN NOT beat this. I've had this for 3 years now. Still kickin. I do plan on upgrading to the Saitek Ecplise 2 soon. It's very hard to find a red led backlight keyboard. This Saitek, hands down, is the best. All my friends who type on it, want it. The backlight is perfect brightness. Although you have the option to dim and dimmer. Mute, Sound up and sound down. The keys also pop off very easy for those cleaning jobs. My keyboard has been with me threw and threw. And still going strong. Great paired up with the Razer Diamonback Salarmander Red. I do have the new Razer Lachesis on the way. (Wraith Red)

Great product. I had looked at more expensive gaming keyboards, but fell in love with this one. Sleek Stylish design at a great price. I loved it so much I bought a second one in blue for my other computer. I would HIGHLY suggest this key board! Great value at a great price! A+++

Im actually surprised this keyboard has gotten the reviews it has. Initially I thought "wow this looks pretty cool." and since Im a gamer and play in the dark from time to time I thought a lighted keyboard would be a nice change. WRONG!! The picture makes it look brighter than it actually is. Its barely illuminated at all.
Additionally, Ive owned it for about 3 months now and the buttons are already fading. By fading I mean.... the silver paint they painted over the buttons with WEARS OFF!!!
The wrist rest is okay, but really cheap and if you move your keyboard or adjust your station it falls off and is generally just a PoS.
