"Not as good as some have posted" | 2009-11-13 |

I've had this printer for about 3 years now. I hate buy new printers because there expensive and you don't know what your going to get. I researched before I bought and wound up with this. It was highly recommended. Why can't any printer company sell a bullet proof printer? Now I'm back researching.
This printer has issues with ink. I don't print much and everytime I use it there's an issue. Ink is WAY to expensive and if you even try to recieve a fax or print a B&W document and a color cartridge is low, forget about printing anything. I just defaults and doesn't do a thing till you get a new one. Can't even trick it into thinking theres a new one in there. Faxing? As previous poster said it has issuses. If you like to fax stuff don't bother with this one. After about 6 months it's been making this god awful noise with gears grinding. Thought for sure it would break but, it keeps going. The search continues... |

"FAX Function SUX!!!! BAD!!! Really, Really BAD!!!" | 2009-07-23 |

| The scanner is greast, does duplex, multi sheet. Awesome. Printer is also very good, except that ink is expensive. My problem with this machine, and I will be replacing it as soon as I have a little extra money, is that the FAX feature absolutely SUX!!!!!!!!! Beyond Belief!!!! There are no instructions in the manual for other than the most basic fax operations, no instructions online, and when you finally take the time to reach a tech support person, they get sarcastic with you. You would think faxing would be pretty basic and simple, but like another reviewer on here stated, once an ink cartridge gets low, all faxes dump into memory instead of printing. Figuring out how to get them out of memory is very, very challenging. There are different methods for getting a received fax out of memory than for getting a sent fax out, which is a whole nother set of frustrating issues. I'm sitting here, trying to receive one fax, someone else has tied up my machine with a fax they tried to send, I can't figure out how to send their fax or delete it, and I can't receive mine until their's is out of the way. I'm ready to beat this thing to death with a baseball bat, I'm so stressed out over the stupidity of the FAX funtion. How could you possibly make faxing difficult. It's almost as if they went out of their way to design stupid steps into faxing, and then laughed as they just didn't bother to put any instructions anywhere. None, not in the manual, not in the users guide, not online. NO Where are there instructions on how to use the fax features of this machine. Thank God I don't need to fax often. Although the rest of this machine is pretty good, because of the fax problems, I would Highly Recommend that you DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE!!!!!!!! REally. I mean it. It SUX. I hope this helps. |

"Good printer uses ink very quickly even for black-and-white" | 2009-07-14 |

I really like the printer in terms of a multi-function device, and it would get 5 starts except for what appears to be a bug (or marketing feature) -- black-and-white printing in duplex mode still uses the color cartridges. That means either you need to use twice the paper or blow through a lot of very expensive ink for simple documents or faxes. So if you run out of one of the color cartridges you can no longer print b&w docs - period. It's a serious shortcoming of the printer.
I would seriously investigate other printers before buying this one again. |

I bought my Canon MP530 all in one printer/scanner/FAX/copier for a little over $100.00 brand new. The thing is great and incredibly easy to figure out how to use. The initial setup is a little trick so FOLLOW THE DIRECTION TO THE T. Text prints really fast and the scan quality of images is pretty good. There's even some auto correction features you can click on in real time while previewing a scan. I've had it for almost 2 years and I've only replaced the color cartridges twice and the black about four times. The only thing it won't do is large format, but no worries, I have a Canon S9000 that does a beautiful job of that, too. I also Noticed that the Canon's aren't as loud and clunky sounding as the HP printers. I give it a six out of five!

"Excellent Machine" | 2009-04-29 |

What an amazing machine. Pros: Well built, 5 ink cartridges (change only what you need), AIO function, duplexing (2 side printing), 2 paper trays (can load different paper types on each tray) and color copy.
Cons: It is not wireless or network-ready (but for this price, what did you expect?).
Comments: Installation went very smooth in 3 laptops, never crashed. But it took about 15 minutes on each; I thought this to be a little too long. Specifically, I bought this machine because of the duplex function and it never disappointed me; I did not have any significant paper jams. I have also used the scanner and xerox function and I never found anything at fault.
In summary: I am very satisfied and I expect it to last several more years. |

| I have had the Canon MP530 now for 2 years and it still works well. The only thing I don't like about is that is goes through ink cartridges very fast. I have worked around this by printing in lower quality when I can. One time the MPC530 was giving me an ink low alarm for the magenta ink cartridge even though the cartridge was full. I replaced the cartridge and it now works fine so it was probably a problem with the cartridge, annoying but problem solved. The scanning and faxing options work very well. The device is easy to use and easy to set up. |
