Under no circumstances, based on this experience, will I ever buy another single piece of equipment from HP again. The fax machine sends, but I have yet been unable to receive a single fax from anyone outside of HP's help desk. This is after hours and hours of troubleshooting. The installation software was a disaster, the scanner functionality is totally questionable and the printer cartridges run out far too quickly. The printing functions were working fine, until I moved to a Mac, and now the printer driver--and this is the driver for Mac--is not compatible with OS. I've read that this will change if I upgrade to Snow Leopard, but I'm already thinking of giving this useless hunk of plastic away and getting a Canon or a Mac printer. I remember when HP put out good equipment. Sadly, those days are behind us.
I've owned this printer for three months. At first, I thought it was an a decent all-in-one printer for a home office. It has readers for many forms of external memory that have proved very useful in transferring content to and from my PC. However, after replacing the black ink cartridge less than one month ago, I received an error message "Cartridge on right must be replaced." After researching this error at various sites, I have learned that HP attempts to determine if a cartridge has been re-inked, meaning it was refilled by the owner of the printer. HP then essentially makes the printer completely inoperable, including all features, even those that do not require ink.
This printer is priced low for the sole purpose of selling ink and driving up HP's profit margins.
HP anticipates that, if you buy this product, you will need to re-ink constantly, thereby driving up their profits. They will sabotage the machine on you if you don't play by their rules.
I'm now in a position where I need to buy another ink cartridge or replace the computer altogether.
Hewlett Packard is a disaster to the global environment. Think about the environmental impact of a marketing and sales strategy built around manufacturing equipment designed to become inoperable to the point people replace it frequently. What a disgrace!
Utterly terrible product. I will not purchase another HP printer again.

I found this on sale at a local store for $89.99 and had to have it to replace my 7310 I had for over 5 years. While this doesn't seem as sturdy as the 7310 it really is. I like that this unit is smaller than the 7310 (which I paid $399.99 for). The only feature missing is the duplexer which I rarely used anyhow. Great for a home office but shop around the price Amazon has is high since this unit can be found locally much cheaper.

My company gave me one of these printers for my "at home" printing work. I loved it so much I purchased one for my personal use. I have 2 of these printers and I think they are great!!! No problems at all with either one. The work one I have had for 2 years or more and it still is running fine. Best of all I think it only cost me about $60, on sale!!

I have had HPs forever but this one is not good. It says it works with MACS but it won't do 2 sided printing nor will it FAX. Yes I have tried everything. I can't find any record of my purchase tho it was only a few months ago and I got it here so I guess I am screwed. I don't know if I would get another HP after this for my MAC - too bad.
