I purchased this item after reading thru the reviews of other customers. Once I tried it, I was reassured of my decision to get it. It's sturdy and easy to use. I work on sport photography, so a monopod was a must for me. The opteka monopod is an excellent choice.

Solid piece of kit for the price. I've used it for about a month and have no major issues, only a few minor ones. The main issue is the rubber foot on the bottom screws in and out to either expose or conceal a steel spike for outdoor use. I screwed it out to cover it to use indoors on a gym floor. By the time I was done (about an hour), the foot loosened and worked itself back in, exposing the spike which was digging in the gym floor. Ooops. I think I might put a drop of loctite on it to see if it helps.

I use the monopod for steadying my 10x42 binoculars. It is extremely fast to use and takes most of the shakes out of the viewing.

I used the monopod just a few times and already find it to be a shot saver, for both video and still. Only problem is lack of a ball head, which I remedied with the purchase of a small Giotto head.

Wow! For the price, you get one hell of a deal.
I have not used it a whole lot (as I only received it earlier today) but I will be this upcoming weekend during a family trip to San Diego. This should work A LOT better than a tripod in "touristy" areas like the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. We'll see. Hopefully it lives up to the hype that these reviews are leading it to be.
However, there is one thing that came as a disappointment. The carrying case. It wasn't the actual case that was the problem, it was the zipper. I tried for a half hour to get it down... IT WOULD NOT BUDGE! I'm sure mine was just a faulty zipper that broke somewhere alone the line. I had to cut the monopod out - destroying the case. But honestly, I don't think I'd use the case anyways... I can just carry it around like the man I was born to be :)
It also make for a nice baton in case you need to straighten anybody up.
If I could, I'd give this product a 9/10. |

I had a nice monopod but misplaced the part that attaches to the camera to lock it on the monopod. With this one it is not going to get lost. It is every bit as sturdy at half the size and price. I have been recommending it to all my friends.
