I bought the Sansa e280 about a month ago because I really wanted to be able to listen to my music wherever I went. So far, this unit has been a fun little player. I like the radio feature and how you can autofill your presets. I plan to expand the capacity via a microSD card when I get the chance.
The only things I'd suggest are to buy a cover to protect the screen, which scratches easily, and to remember to charge the unit BEFORE you use it, per the instructions.
I like just about every feature of this player has to offer, except for the way SanDisk handles playlists. Adding and deleting music via WMP is a breeze and the included utility makes it simple to add pictures and movies...
Would I buy this player again? Heck Yea!
Peace, JW |

hello all, i used sansa before and that was a refurbished item. this is not a refurbished but i have a feeling that this is not a perfect product. first i bought 8gb. the wheel was not really smooth and the tip of the headphones was really hard to plug into the the player. so i wanted a replacement. eventually they admitted that they have only 4gb and i accepted it. but again the wheel is not smooth and tip of headphones is frustrating.
BUT for this price, this item is still great. and i love this item because it works with LINUX as a memory stick. thanks |

I BOUGHT TNHIS PLAYER FROM ONE OF AMAZONS'S DROP SHIPPER, (NOT THEIR FAULT) AND AFTER I RECEIVED IT, THE MICRO CARD SLOT WOULD NOT ACCEPT A MICRO CARD.....KEEPS FALLING OUT. I CALLED THE COMPANY THAT SHIPPED IT (TheFactoryDepot) and they tell me that they have no replacement, that a new model in out. So I called SANDISK, AND THEY TELL ME TO RETURN IT TO AMAZON, AMAZON SAYS IT WAS SHIPPED BY (TheFactoryDepot) .....I'M BACH TO WHERE I STARTED WITH TheFactoryDepot.
i CALLED SANSISK AGAIN AND DEMANDED THAT IT BE REPLACED.....THIS TIME AFTER A FEW E-MAILS, THE GAVE ME AN RMA # AND PREPAID POSTAGE TO SHIP IT BACK.....THAT WAS ALMOST A MONTH AGO. cALLED SANDISK AGAIN AND THEY NOW TELL ME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS PLAYER STILL LISTED ON AMAZON EITHER, THEY WILL GET BACK WITH ME WHEN THEY FIND ONE.
WELL IT'S ALMOST OCTOBER AND THEY HAVE NOT GOT BACK TO ME YET......NOT MORE SANDISK PRODUCTS FOR ME |

| I bought this little guy last February and it has seldom left my side. It works great with Rhapsody music service. I use it to listen to music, audio books, and radio. It has been dropped a couple of times and remains well intact. I would advise getting a memory card if you like lots of different music like I do. |

"Fabulous Player - be cautious of the VERSION you are buying" | 2008-09-20 |

| I would like to highly recommend this player. However, do be careful when buying a refurbished player that you are getting a Version 2 and not a Version 1, especially if you plan to add more memory to it. I originally purchased a refurbished player (e280), not realizing that there WAS a version 1 AND a version 2. There was never anything written ANYWHERE (even on the Sandisk website!) about there being two versions. The big difference is that with the Version 1, you can only add a maximum of 2 GB. I wanted to purchase the e280 which has 8 GB, and add an additional SD card with another 8 GB, giving me a 16 GB player. AMAZON was really great about taking back the Version 1, and then I found a refurbished version 2 and purchased that instead. I also purchased an 8 GB SD card, and upgraded to a 16 GB player. Then I purchased a wall charger, an car charger, a crystal case, and a cassette adapter for my car stereo. The total cost for everything, including shipping was only $117.00. I was HAPPY and it worked just fine, if a bit heavy to carry around. I finally got a clip for the crystal cover, and now I can clip it on my clothing and off I go...happy as can be. At least, I was very happy until...I plugged the player into my car charger, and "POP". Then NOTHING. The damn thing blew out. I was paralyzed and shocked. After two months of all that confusion and trying to get the right player and all the accessories, and poof, gone. I came home and called Sandisk, and they were incredibly helpful. We were able to reboot the player, and then I was informed that I had an old version of the software on the player, and it needed to be updated in order for the car charger to work. They walked me through the download and installation process, and the player was back in order just fine. Now it updates itself automatically when I plug it in to the computer. The car charger should work fine now, but I'm still too scared to try it again. I'll wait until I have the energy to reboot the whole thing again, just in case its necessary. That last episode nearly made me throw the whole thing in the garbage and go buy an IPod. But I'm very happy I got this, and am ripping my entire CD collection so I can listen to it all. This 16 GB player will hold 4,000 songs (in WMA) ! I'm a happy camper, and would recommend this player to anyone. It's easy to use, has loads of functions, is small (although a bit heavy), and Sandisk gives great technical assistance for free. |

Since there are so many fine reviews here, I'll just add my two cents' worth.
For $59.99 I purchased a refurbished model of the e280 and couldn't be happier. This model beats the iPod Nano 8GB on features and the sound is about equal with perhaps a slight nod to the Nano. The unit looks exactly like a brand new one with the exception of the word 'REFURB' embossed on the back.
Features:
SanDisk doesn't require you to use any particular music source or program, so iTunes isn't an issue.
The Sansa includes an FM receiver -- the Nano doesn't.
The Sansa includes Video playback -- the Nano doesn't.
The Sansa's screen is a bit larger and the picture quality is excellent.
The Sansa includes a record feature allowing recording of the FM signal or your voice (with its own microphone).
Sansa players include a microSD slot allowing for memory expansion. An extra $25 or so gives you an extra 8GB as of this writing.
Operation between main memory and the expansion slot is seamless (without alot of menus, dialogs, etc.).
The Sansa includes a built-in equalizer with presets (Classical, Jazz, Funk, Rock, etc.) and a custom feature allowing you to build your own sound, something the Nano doesn't offer.
Dowloading music is as easy as drag-and-drop. I use Windows Media Player version 10 (with XP) and have had no problems. Make sure your files are .wma lossless or you will get a 'Bad Track' error message. This is found in the Options menu of the Media Player.
I'm told the Sansa has a greater flexibility with play lists, especially coupled with Windows. Sub-menus are easily handled as is artist information as is cover art. I've heard (but have no first-hand experience) that managing play lists with the Nano is more involved.
The included earbuds are actually decent, although I've upgraded to the Sennheiser PX100 headphones. I recommend the Sennheisers, but it's great that a refurbished product comes with a good pair of stock earbuds.
The owner's manual is short, sweet, and very clear. But if you get stuck as I did with reformatting the refurbished unit's memory, the toll free customer support is very good, polite, and solved the issue.
I've purchased some accessories for the e280 such as a car/wall charging kit, a clear crystal case, a leather carrying case for the player and the 'phones, and an FM transmitter that allows me to play the contents of the Sansa over my car stereo.
I also purchased a 2-year warranty for about $11. Refurbs come with a 90-day warranty, so 2-years plus 90 days is a bargain. The new units come with a 1-year warranty.
All in all, I've got a great digital audio player with accessories for only a bit more than the cost of a new e280.
Highly recommended.
