| I'm what you call a professional driver. As a person who delivers big commercial vehicles, I find myself in unfamiliar areas all the time. The Garmin 660 has proven to be a great asset to me and my drivers time after time. It is fast and accurate. The Garmin has a setting for "Trucks" (as well as othe vehicles, bikes, motorcycles..)
it keeps me from driving into areas where commercial vehicle traffic is prohibited. It also allows me to avoid toll roads, where possible. I have used this GPS with great results since June 2007 and have had no problems whatsoever. I took the time to research the Garmin products, and found the 660 to suits my needs the best. I read many reviews that were critical of a GPS because of it's failings as an MP3 player or picture viewer, or because of less than perfect sound quality. Maybe I'm middle aged and foolish, but I use my Garmin 660 GPS as a navigational aid and rely on other gadgets for entertainment purposes. I drive about 1250 miles per week throughout 11 states, and have NEVER gotten lost or trapped in a large commercial vehicle. Because it is small and lightweight, it is easy for me to transport it between vehicles, which I do every day. The FM transmitter function is great so I can patch the GPS through the truck radio crank up the volume so it can be heard. Also, I fly and take trains and busses to and from locations and never have been hassled. It is never in the same vehicle twice, and is very transportable. I rarely go to the same location twice in the same month, so the ability for me to store drop off points as a favorite location is invaluable to me and my drivers. To rate it's ease of operation, I handed it over to my 75 year old, gadget challenged father. Without ANY instruction, he accurately programmed it to a location in another state in less than a minute.
I would highly endorse and recommend this product to anyone looking for a full featured GPS unit. I wanted a GPS that was full featured and rugged, and the Garmin Nuvi 660 is all that and more. I use this GPS unit as a business tool, and don't leave the house without it. If you need (or want) a GPS to find the fastest route from your house to the local beauty salon or liquor store, save yourself some money and buy an entry level unit. |

| I just love the access to any address, & how I don't have to use the web & print out directions anymore! when I miss a turn, it recalculates & sets me off on the right way. People are in awe when they see that I arrived without their help, then I tell them about my my new found toy.
Also, the accident info is said when I'm driving, and tells me how to beat the traffic by taking side streets & putting me back on the freeway, I left maybe 50 cars, now I'm way ahead of them!
I can't see myself without this Nuvi 660! |

I bought the Garmin Nuvi660 a little over a year ago. The GPS is great however I've had issues with the mount since early on. It's hard to stick it up on the glass and even if I manage to do it the whole thing comes falling down after a few minutes. I wish Garmin would make the accessories as good as the main product.

I liked a lot about this GPS, and I disliked a lot. Mostly, it took me about a month to finally get used to the controls and operating system. During that month, I was really bugged at the programming of the GPS. It seemed like they tried to completely reinvent the wheel over and over again.
It's a nice GPS, and I used it as much as a walking GPS as a car GPS. It's nice to slide into my pocket, and good to use in the car. I travelled a lot since I bought this, and it's been really cool to mark all of the cool places I've been in the world on this GPS.
There are tons of little things that bug me about this.
*There appears to be no way to get my save points out of the GPS and on to my computer
*Garmin takes a while to get road changes into their computer. It seems their maps are about six to twelve months behind Google Maps.
*I turned the voice off, and forgot how to get it back on. I'm sure I could figure it out, but it would probably take me about an hour to just complete this task.
*If you're going to use this as a walking GPS, you also need to buy a pocket compass. It's not too bad, because they're cheap.
*And many more.
Other random thoughts:
*Almost everyone has one of these, so learning the arcane and weird operating system is probably a good investment. I showed a taxi driver how to use his, to help us find a bar by the airport in a city in California
*I tried the stuff to mount this in my car, but opted for just letting it sit in the passenger seat instead.
*I tried the traffic thing, and it was pretty cool. Once it told me to take an exit off the freeway and get back on the freeway, because traffic was at a standstill. That saved me about five minutes and was really cool. Nifty as it was, there's no way I'd pay any more money for it though.
*I used this a lot out of the country, and it's got a very basic map of the world. I wish it wasn't so cost prohibitive to get additional worldwide maps.
As a warning, make sure you re-download the maps after your first year purchase anniversary. Mark your calendar for 11 months out. I waited 13 months, and now they want to charge me a bundle, where if I would have downloaded only a month earlier, it would have been free.
My next unit will probably be a TomTom, such as TomTom GO 720 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator. |

| I purchased the GPS through Amazon-not a problem there. I like the unit itself and its display. As others have mentioned-the traffic avoidance choice is not always faster. It is, for the most part, accurate...occasional dead end street problems. I have had it for 1 1/2 years-purchased the traffic subscriptions and as of last week, have a broken FM transmitter power cord. There are lots of other owners(read other reviews)who have had the same problem (who knew?)so beware. They cost alot of money to replace and it seems one doesn't really have a choice especially because one has already purchased the subsciption. Why doesn't Garmin do something about it for their customers? All I ever did was leave it plugged it! |

| This one does it all - and does it well. Typical Garmin high quality. Very clear voice providing directions - I like the British lady best - bluetooth connects easily and work well, however FM feature does not (maybe I should read the instructions). Not worth what Grmin would charge but available for much less through Amazon. |
