| A good Mac for those who want to trade up from their Windows PC, just unplug everything from your Windows box and plug it into your new Mac (make sure you have a USB keyboard and mouse, however!) - except that this particular model is a bit slow by modern (2008) standards, you should really look for one of the faster models of this computer available here. If you do not have a monitor that you currently like, buy an iMac instead, as the built-in monitor on those computers is very sharp and clear. |

you can get a new one with specs that blow away this computer for only 100-200 more. This is great for everyday computing. Internet, docs. But if you run editing software, record and edit music, or are a download junkie. Spend the extra 100 or take the time to shop around. Has tiger OSX which was great for PRO TOOLS , but half gig memory won't cut it.
PS///you risk breaking computer changing the memory, very delicate, made in mac mini' early stages. |

"Basic functions only; too slow for anything else" | 2007-12-06 |

Perhaps I have the wrong tool for the job - I occasionally design posters and edit photographs and I wanted the mac mini to 1) investigate a possible switch to mac and 2)try out a dual core processor.
The machine does fine for web browsing and document editing, but open up photoshop, illustrator, and a 24 x 36" poster at 300 dpi, and this machine grinds to a halt. I literally spend hours waiting on the machine to open, save, resize, etc. files - If I get too much going at once I'll just have to sit with a beach ball for several minutes...
I sometimes get error messages about not having enough memory to perform certain tasks.
About the dual core - perhaps it's because of other bottlenecks, but I can tell absolutely no difference versus single core. The machine is still as sluggish and non-responsive as a single core when an intensive task is running in the background.
Obviously this machine wasn't designed for such a task - I plan to upgrade to a macbook pro soon. Just take it from someone who's tried that this machine won't handle graphic art.
What it has been is an excellent introduction to Mac OSX and its differences from windows. I suppose that's exactly what this machine was designed for - basic tasks and introduction to mac, in hopes of converting the user to pricier apple machines. If that's its purpose, it's been very successful! |

| I am a Mac addict, of course. I love everything about it. It runs cool, fits into a small space, runs properly, no glitches, etc. I've attached two external drives to it for more storage, this works great for me so I can take my portable drive when I need to. I have my stereo, printer, monitor, hub, high speed modem, and more hooked up to it. Love my Mac!!! |

The 2nd day delivery delivered a defect product. Took several weeks and a lot of emails to get a replacement. Then I found new version posted on the website right after I got the replacement.
That means it took me several weeks to get an outdated product even though I used 2nd day delivery service. What a bad experience. |

"Great little Mac" | 2007-08-22 |

I've been using this mac for almost two months and I don't have any complaint, it works excellent and the Mac OS X is very easy to use. I connected this to a LCD 32" and looks beautiful. Until now I have not needed more RAM (more than 512MB) but I'm planning to add 2 GB (1.5 GB more). If you want to use heavy software for work (like photoshop or similar software) you should better have to get a mac with better CPU and RAM. Next gen videogames doesn't run smoothly in a mac mini, probably the old (-good) ones does (like starcraft) or those before 2005 but the actual ones I think they don't.
For web surfing, word processor, email, some simple videogames and light applications it's a good choice. |

Apple is truly a remarkable company!
I ordered a mac mini last week during tax-free weekend, even though I suspected the mac mini would be upgraded (or dropped) soon.
The other day I got an email saying my order was AUTOMATICALLY upgraded to the new mac mini they released. Intel Core *2* Duo, extra memory, and hard drive. That's amazing since they aren't even marketing the mac mini update!
Since 1 GB memory is standard on the new minis, they removed the charge I was gonna pay for upgrading from 512MB. So I got a MUCH better computer for LESS money!
I've never heard of another company to do such a thing, let alone ones that sell PCs. I bought this mini for my parents because their PC was as undependable as mine, yet my wife's Mac has never failed us. Now I'm tempted to get a mini for myself... |

Bought this since my 5 year old will need to use MACs at school... I am a Windows person and build my own systems...
Good: -Very easy to setup and compatible with most hardware out there. -I like it since it is so small and quiet and the kids haven't found the power button yet.... -Stylish and sleek GUI.
Bad: - My kids got the a CD stuck in the unit already. I had to fix this manually. - The kids crashed Apple OS within 5 minutes.... 3 Minutes longer then XP. - Once you plug it in, you need to download 200Mb of patches... - A lot of MAC/PC games we bought in the past are not compatible with the unit... I am looking at Parallels or the bootcamp to resolve this. -Remember to buy a keyboard/mouse/ and monitor since this is only the computer and nothing else.
For the price, I cannot complain.... |

"My new mini is faster and the graphics seem much sharper" | 2007-06-26 |

| Just replaced my old original, can't-upgrade-from-256 MB-ram Mac mini with a new 1.66 mini. The old computer was so slow, it would freeze, and I'd come back twenty minutes later and it'd take that long to get all its little commands done. The new computer is much faster, and as a side benefit the graphics are much more beautiful. They seem to have more depth. I also installed 2 GB crucial memory myself -- see my other review. I would love to have the money to buy the iMac G5 24 inch. But I have a 1999 Sony Triniton 20 inch monitor that still works beautifully, as well as three printers and a separate disk drive. Now I'm proud owner of two minis running it all. I plan to use the old one to start with as a place to run my classic apps, in particular my Oxford English Dictionary on CD, which is not available for X. I also intend to use the older mini to run TV and other electronics as I get more savvy. Nice thing about a mini - you can stand them up on their side and they REALLY have a small footprint. |
