"Tom Welling should have played Superman in the movie" | 2008-03-15 |

| This show has been my favorite show for the last several years. I own all 6 seasons of this series and have watched the first three seasons 3 or 4 times each and the 4th and 5th seasons a couple times each. This show does have some weak points and there is a slight amount of cheesiness present at times, but the characters are simply amazing. Who would have ever thought of casting John Schneider(from Dukes of Hazard) as Jonathan Kent? He has to be the best actor to ever play that role. Tom Welling was also a great choice for Clark. Beyond that, all the female actresses in this series are gorgeous and it always helps to have beautiful women in a scene...especially if they can also act. All in all...this is the greatest show of its type currently on the air. |

| I give this two stars instead of one because I really love the show, but check out the prices, people! At the time of this writing, you can get each of the first five seasons for $24 a piece ($24 x 5 = $120) or you can buy this set of the first five seasons for $200. Hmmmmm. |

It is a really nice opportunity that you can get the first 5 seasons of " Smallville " together for just 199.99 dollar. Smallville is a different and new way to interpret the superman story, just Lois & Clark - The new adventures of Superman " did by 10 years ago. The show and its storyline improves Year by Year along with the headactors Tom Welling, m. Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk , not to mention the special effects , music and sound for each every episode. Negative note for collectors: The 5 boxes have different packaging. In my case the boxes were grouped in this way : S 1 and S2 got a Standard Wyncase. S 3 is very much thinner than the 2 previous sets and S 4 has got the Standard Wyncase again. S 5 is a Digipack. Enjoy! |

I love superhero stuff. Unfortunately, I hadn't been able to keep up with Smallville because I didn't have cable tv for awhile. I jumped at the chance to buy this set from Amazon.
I love this set... It just about caught me up with Smallville. I now have cable, but I missed some of Season 6.
I plan to order Smallville Season 6 as soon as it's available. |

| As much as people may like this show, It really needs some improvement. I won't lie, the last two seasons had me hooked, hence the 3 stars. Only because I had a false sense that it was leading up to something extraodinary. I was wrong. It had some good episodes but in only Half of all seasons!! Come on. The writers really need to get a clue. Although the actors' skills have definately progressed overtime, they turned the show from a potential mini-superhero-action series into a 'I love Lana,I need Lana, I can't live without Lana,' mama drama show!! Clarke only flies when Jor-El takes over his body, when he has that retarded red ring, and when the phantom clones his body (Season Six). They save all the real action and important stuff for the season finales which I feel are always great. But a whole season of nonsense and a great finale is not what I call a good show. I give it two stars for the show itself and I give it another star for the writers successfully managing to make me believe that if I watch the series long enough something great will eventually happen in between that I wouldn't want to miss, good job. Bottom line: 1)Show needs action. Clarke needs to throw more than a punch in a fight. 2) Get rid of Lana, which they seemingly did at the end of Season Six 3)Better stories with better villains. I do like Lex however, but get rid of annoying Lionel. Come on Smallville, Step Ur Game Up!!! |

| It is great to have all of the episodes of all of the first five seasons in one package. What really makes it worthwhile are all of the extras that are included with the season packages. I do not regret the money I spent on getting the first five seasons at one time. |

I know there are people who bash this show because of the liberties it takes with Superman's history. But I can't say I understand where these people are coming from. There have been many different incarnations of Superman over the decades and they all exist in their own little continuity. Each should be looked at on it's own rather than how it follows rules of predefined events in other incarnations of the character.
On it's own, Smallville is a fine TV show, and by far the best thing they could do to tell the story of a young Clark Kent. Tom Welling is perfect as the series star, and Michael Rosenbaum is just as superbly cast as his best friend/one day nemesis Lex Luthor. The rest of the cast is filled quite nicely as well, with believable actors taking up the familiar roles as well as some all new characters.
If you look at this show for it's own qualities rather than how it stands up to some image of what Superman should be, you will very likely enjoy every moment of this series. |

After spending a good 4 months on and off watching this show inbetween everything else that came in its way (I guess i was looking for excuses to stop) I found this show to be pretty good, just the annoying frequency on some characters got to me after a while.
I'm in the fifth season and I have to say the pragmatic "death" that happens in this season ( i wont spoil it for you, but if you've seen it you will know what im on about) is done with what is probably the best character this show had to offer, dispite their annoying habits on the screen too.
I shall probably buy season six and finish off the series, only because of the time I commited so far. I like how the writers have managed to expand on whats classically seen as background characters (and introduced new ones) but the script was pretty weak for dialouge, almost like you can tell they are reading off script prompters at some points! However, there were some golden points, dont get me wrong. I just found them outshined by the amount of crap involved. But then again, this might just be me being jaded.
Worth it if you are into the mindless drabble or teen dramas. Good in the large scheme of the overral story.
Did anyone notice the price hike on amazon for these five seasons? I think I bought it off here several months back for $150 (US)? Certainly not as expensive as its become! |

| Just a small irritation to watch out for: there are NO English subtitles/captions for the entire 5th season! Only Spanish & French which was quite annoying. I think this was the worst of the 5 seasons in terms of story telling and it had great potential. |
