First let me say that I really like this watch. So much so that I bought two, a gold and a silver one. This one here is silver tone with a STEEL BLUE face. Definitely not navy, as some have suggested. The watch is a very nice size, its not too big, and its fairly thin for what it does. Let me say up front that this is the first metal band watch that I can wear. Others pull out my hair or are sharp edged and hurt after a while. Some have said it is heavy, and perhaps it is technically, but it fits so well that I notice it less than some other lighter watches. Now the bad, and its not really that bad. The fact is that for all the cool stuff that this watch does, most of it is not really useable. The alarm is soft. The calendar setting just shows you the month. If I didn't know what month it is, I would have bigger problems than whether my watch is set correctly. The local time sounds good, but switching features takes so long (the hands have to go round and round) that I long ago could have figured it out. If you could put the local time on the 24 hour dial on watch face, this would be much more useful. Also you can only set it to different hours, so that leaves out India, which is a half hour ahead of other times. So it is questionable whether the cool stuff is any use. This drops it from a five to four in my estimation. That said the watch looks good, feel good, keeps good time and obviously I like it because I bought two. If amazon would drop this to the $260 range, this would be a really good deal.

I bought this watch a little over a month ago and defintely made the right choice! Everything about it exudes class. For the price, you will not find a nicer watch than the Calibre 8700. The only problem I can see is that it does not have a saphire crystal so it might scratch easily. I wacked it pretty good last week and it has a tiny hairline scratch on the face. If it was a saphire crystal, I'm sure that would not have happened. The Calibre 8700 really looks like a watch that costs 10x as much as it does. The face, dial and roman numerals have a perfect reflection that it shimers in the light! Here is a little story for you. I went to a really expensive restaurant for a business meeting last week. When my waitress sat us down, she immediately grabbed my wrist to look at my watch. She said that she noticed it right when I walked in the door. I'm sure she was surprised that it said "Citizen" and not "Rolex" or "Tag"! If you're thinking about purchasing this watch. STOP Thinking!!! Just order it already. You won't be disappointed! -KB-

I've had this watch for 3 years. It's sturdy, accurate and very attractive. It works with a suit & tie as well as everyday use. Recently the band broke in a way that forced the removal of about 3/4" in length. The watch shop told me it would cost about $150 for a new band. I can't find the extra links it came with and I know I didn't throw them away so for now I'm stuck with it sitting on the dresser until I come across them. My advice is to keep close tabs on the extra links after getting this adjusted. It feels very sturdy but if it breaks the band is really expensive. I definitely miss not wearing it everyday.

My wife gifted me this for our anniversary a year and half back and its working great. It has so many controls....two different time settings, perpetual calender, alarm and works on light-energy...Would definitely recommend it.

I bought this watch back in early 2007, and I have worn it almost every day since. It is an amazing deal for a watch. No problems at all, and at the end of every month I do not have to advance the date to the correct day number. It is near perfect. The only reasons why I did not give it a 5 star are the mineral crystal watch window, and the size. This watch should have a sapphire crystal so that it stays looking great year after year, and the thickness and heft of the watch are a mixed blessing. Nice and sturdy feeling, but at times is a lot to have on your arm, at least for me. This watch is highly recommended for people who like easy. Set it once, and correct for day light savings time, and forget about it. No batteries, not incorrect date, no fuss. Classy

I really love this watch so its a shame I must give it a 3-star review. If you are going to pay this much for a watch, it really should have a sapphire dial window. Within a year of ownership I had 2 or 3 scratches on the dial. Now, into its second year it has a couple more. It's such a shame really because otherwise its a perfect watch. Elegant and classy looking, low maintenance thanks to the Eco-Drive system and perpetual calendar.
