I've owned Braun electric shavers for almost 20 years now and have been happy with every one - until this one. The Series 5 has really been a let-down for me. I've had it now for 10 months.
1) Most importantly it just does not shave as well as my prior Braun's. I used to be able to shave once every other day with no issues at all. But with this Braun if I skip a day it's a painful undertaking complete with annoying pulls and even cuts. My previous Braun shavers never had issues getting to though spots but this one flat out can't get these (such as the neck line). Even after a shave with the Series 5 I don't feel smooth.
2) The station is set up so that if you want to charge, you have to use the cleaner. This is a way for them to ensure that you keep having to buy cleaning cartridges through the life of the razor. This is annoying and a blatant money grab from Braun - especially considering my previous Braun had the option to charge but not clean. Note that with the Series 5 you CAN charge but not clean, but you'll need to pull out the cleaning cartridge to do so - a needless hassle.
Overall I am very disappointed with this razor and growing impatient with Braun and their attempt to force us to use their cleaning cartridges. |

| Finally an electric razor that actually shaves--"close". The very first stroke I took, with the Braun, I could immediately tell the difference. I have used a rotary electric razor for years but "if" I wanted a nice close shave I would always have to use a blade. Now, with this Braun, all I have to do is shave once, in the morning, even if I have an engagement that evening. Of course I've only used it a week and something could go wrong with it, but as of right now I really like it. The cleaning kits may be a pain to replace but I haven't had to encounter that yet. |

| I found it to be an excellent shaver. Easy handling, with an excellent travel storage box. The cleaning system works grate, keep the shaver clean and your skin does not suffers. I highly recommend it. |

| My fourth Braun shaver in the last 20 years - they are the best. This is the first time I paid the big money ($180)for a high end unit with the cleaing unit. Honestly do not see a big difference from the $100 unit. Good shaver. |
