Love my Harmony 1000 and can't imagine owning it without the RF Extender. I've owned them about a year and would never go back to standard remotes. Setup was a breeze and I love that I don't have to point the remote at my components. Assigning ports to specific devices was easy and a good idea since there's no need to send redundant signals to componets that don't need them. If you keep a close eye on the Harmony 1000 and RF Extender, Amazon often has rebates if you buy the two items together. My rebate covered the entire cost of the RF Extender, making it free. I wrote a longer review about my experience with the Harmony 1000 and RF Extender, so I don't know that much more needs to be said, other than emphatically stating that I see no point in owning the Harmony 1000 without the RF Extender. Give them a shot! If you don't like it, you can always return them. :)

This extender was easy to set up and corrected the problem I was having with my Logitech Harmony 1000 that required too precise aiming for the IR sensors in two components in my home theater system. Logitech should include it with the Harmony 1000.

Logitech Harmony RF Wireless Extender I'm not sure Logitech did a good job of marketing for this product. I didn't quite understand how it worked before purchasing it. It was so easy... First, I didn't understand the device itself it an infrared transmitter... Each of the 4 ports, will support 2 devices (with the RF Extender cables) for a total of 8 devices! Sweet! But I plugged the device into the USB port on my iMac and connected it... Set a few options, then updated my Harmony 1000 remote and bam... Done! I set the device infront of my equipment and didn't need to use one of the ports provided (at least not yet)... Also Z Electra (seller on Amazon) was GREAT!! Very fast shipping!!!

First thing I must point out is what the other reviewer said: Even though the Harmony 1000 can control 15 devices, and this RF-IR is supposed to be an extension of the remote... and in fact physically is able to control however many devices that can be within IR-shot, however the useless logitech software only lets you select up to 8 of the devices in the list to be sent to the RF extender instead of the Harmony! but you could have 2 RF extenders. Note that the Logitech web site does not mention this limitation, and even says it can support all the devices that you can fit into the cupboard, so my advice is to complain to Logitech to either lift that restriction or send you a free additional RF extender to live up to their claim of 15 devices!

The devices works great. I sync'd the extender and the Harmony 1000 and had everything working quite nicely. But, I am very unhappy with the IR wires. The adhesive on the emitters is very poor. Three of the five attached emitters fell off within the first 3 weeks.

We have had nothing but problems with our Harmony remote, because it HAS to be pointed directly at the components for it to work. It is extremly hard to look at the touch screen and have it pointed at the components at the same time. This RF EXTENDER has made us love our remote. Now we can point the remote anywhere and it will still work.

Attempted to use it with my Harmony 1000. It works for ~ 5 minutes right after updating both the remote and the extender from the computer, then stops working. The little "sending RF signal" icon does flash on the remote, but the extender does not seem to receive any signals whatsoever. Nothing gets it working again (rebooting the extender, rebooting the remote, pressing connect on the extender, etc.) -- except re-upating both the remote and extender via USB from the computer. Then it works again for ~ 5 minutes. I doubt it has to do with interference, since I am performing my tests with the remote right next to the extender. Of course, I have updated both the remote and extender with the latest firmware. I do like everything else about the H1000, and the IR works fine, so now I'm desperately seeking an alternative RF solution for that remote.

I got 3 to control audio and video over RF in a very busy conference room. Mostly they work as expected. Once you've set up the remote, you need to add each extender in the system and update them every time you do something new. So the first real setting is a little bit cumbersome, since you need to test every piece. In the living room that may be easy but in a conference room, that a little bit harder. Adding the "Zone" is also not without failure. I had to add them more than once to have them work properly. And I have to do that if there is a power outage. Next thing is the IR end. We were closed for 10 days over the holidays and I guess something happened because they just start falling. I had to tape them again to the IR receiver on each device they were controlling. The one for the projector is quite hard to reach because in the ceiling. Otherwise, they are pretty stable for heavy use.

If you don't want to have to see all of your A/V components then this is a great product. I use it with the Harmony 1000 and my whole family loves the setup. I use a cable HD DVR and it works great. I didn't get to fancy with it, I only have one of these devices and only use it to control the devices while I am in that room. It was easy to set up and has worked well for me.
