This remote controls my mishmash of components really well; none of my other remotes would control what I needed, but the database of codes online includes everything you could ever imagine.
If your TV has a slightly more complex or less common menu structure, you might have to do a fair bit of work to get it programmed properly. The remote doesn't replicate the use of a manufacturer's remote so much as perform complex functions. If you press the "Watch TV" Button, it'll power up the TV, cable box, and audio system and set them all to the right inputs.
The software you load onto your PC to program the remote could be better. It does ask you a series of questions and offer different routes to the solution, but as I said above, it has a lot to do with your equipment. It *WILL* work, but it took me half an hour to teach it to switch inputs on my TV properly. If I had more name-brand electronics it would probably be a lot easier. |

"Too Many Flaws for the Price" | 2009-10-31 |

With a ton of electronics piling up in my living room, I was going crazy having to manage 3 remotes to watch TV. This seemed like a logical solution and for the most part, it does what I need it to do. I've been able to throw the other 3 remotes in the drawer and just use this for everything. This particular remote has a great shape that fits right in the hand.
With that said, there are some problems. The first is the setup. It takes a long time and is not exactly the most user friendly. It was also missing my receiver from its list. It's a major name brand (Onkyo) and a popular choice for people. No reason why this shouldn't be in there. My DVR box also didn't match up exactly but it hasn't given me any issues. If you're somewhat tech savvy and have patience, you'll get the hang of it. But if you're not, I wouldn't even bother with this remote.
And now for my biggest gripe. It just doesn't work all that well. About 20% of the time when I turn off devices it misses one. I have to go through the help menu to fix the problem. I also run into this issue when turning on devices. I know the signal is not being blocked because when I go through the help menu it has no issues. It's happened with all the devices at some point but primarily has issues with the XBox 360 (which rarely ever turns off with the remote) and the DVR. I've even made a point to aim the remote directly at the devices when turning on/off. Outside of the on/off issues, the remote works great in controlling the devices.
All in all it's a step up from working 3 remotes. On the other hand, at this price, I expect it to work much more consistently. |

"Not recommended for uverse" | 2009-10-23 |

| Bought this to try to eliminate using 3 remotes with our uverse / home theater setup. Not recommended for this use. Its pretty complicated to set up and when we do get it set up it has dropped the settings several times and required reprogramming. Got sick of it and threw this very expensive remote in a drawer and went back to juggling the ones that work. |

I bought this because of the price: $39.99. It worked great, except for a few minor problems. The system never really could turn on and off everything it was supposed to.
After 3 months, it just quit working. Don't buy the refurbed models. They are junk! |

"Problems with Logitech Harmony 670 Universal Remote" | 2009-10-14 |

This device is useless. It is worth about $19.95 not a penny more. It has so many problems I do not have enough time to make a list. It may work for one device and a TV, but I have 4 devices and a TV.
1. It does turn on the correct devices most of the time but it never gets the correct input. The only way to get the correct input, you have to use the Help button and answer questions to get to the problem or problems. I have to use the Help button every time I use this Device. Without the Help button this device would not work on most applications.
2. If I get one device ON and the other device OFF, it is almost impossible to fix the problem using the remote control. If you hit the OFF switch it will turn OFF one device and turn NO the other device. Hitting the device buttons or the OFF switch again will turn ON one device and turn OFF the other device. You can use the Help Button but this make take 20 switches selections before reaching the device you need to change.
3. After using the Help button, I would hope that the device would remember the problem. It does not. If you have an application that you have to use the Help button you have to use it every time.
As a Professional Programmer I feel that the program for this device was never throughout from a user view point.

"Not as well laid out as other Harmony remotes" | 2009-10-13 |

I bought this remote and then returned it. The problem isn't with the features but with the physical layout. The center buttons for Up/Down/Left/Right are contained on a single button that can be pressed on multiple sides (with the select button in the middle). The issue is that this button is way too close to the Play/Pause/Stop/etc. controls that surround it, making it awkward to use. If you have a DVR or digital cable and need to move around on an on-screen menu it gets annoying very quickly. On top of this the button has a very cheap feel to it making me wonder how long it would last.
Another related issue with the remote is that the volume and channel up/down buttons are too near the bottom of the remote for quick access.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Harmony remotes, but in my opinion this version just doesn't live up to their usually high design standards. |
