The PS3 memory card adaptor is a great device for owners of the now defunct backwards compatible Playstation 3's. It's a piece of cake to use. Simply plug in the device to one of the USB ports, insert your memory card and go to the ps3 internal memory card section on your cross media bar. When the card is inserted, it will show up as "Ps2 memory card". Next, go to whatever game save you want, and you have an option to copy the save to the PS3's internal memory card. You can also reverse transfer the internal memory back onto the ps2 card. Unfortunately, the card reader does not allow you to directly play the saved game from it. You will have to transer the saves to the Ps3's internal memory. Also, this device doesn't work with many (if not all) third party ps2 memory cards. I tried it with a Max memory 16mb card, as well as a Mad Catz card and neither worked. The card reader simply doesn't recognize it. That sucks, but that seems to be the way Sony rolls when it comes to third party stuff for their machines. They want their users using Sony brand. Aside from that one complaint, this is a great and inexpensive device for backward compatible Ps3 users with a large ps2 save game backlog.

I bought this to transfer all of my old saves from the Champions of Norrath series over to my PS3. It was easy to use and worked without a hitch.

Well, like most people before me have said, you pretty much only use it once. It is good for transferring your saves to the ps3's virtual memory card. However, if you are like me and travel alot, and like to take the more portable systems with you, this really isn't a great buy. The adapter converts your saves into .psv files which only the ps3 can read.
Unfortunately I found out that my Legend of Dragoon and Chrono Cross saves were stuck on my ps3 because they were converted to .psv. If you try to send back the information from the virtual memory card to the physical memory card, the games in which you use the saves will hang up when you try to load because they cannot read the format in which the save is in.
I cannot give this hardware any more than a 2 because of this fact. It is almost unforgivable that all my old saves are now only useful on a ps3, which as you all know is huge and certainly not portable.

The memory adapter does just what it states. Great for saving your ps1 or ps2 games without having to use your hard drive space on your ps3 or playing where you left off last from the other systems.
