I just bought a 17" Macbook Pro. Too much damn tax. It was really cool to be able to save some cash on the Apple Care. Saved me a bill to buy a sick ass Logitech mouse. Thx Amazon :)

Apple is not exactly an industry leader in the length of original warranties, so AppleCare becomes a necessary investment. How necessary? Well, on this present MacBook Pro Apple has replaced:
The cost of those replacements would be vastly greater than the cost of AppleCare. According to a recent Consumer Reports reader survey, Macs have the same reliability as all other major laptop brands.
Having to buy AppleCare to compensate for the short Mac warranties is an Apple "tax" not much discussed by the sycophants in the Mac press. In my opinion the review ratings should include the length of warranty, and Apple should be docked a star (or a mouse, or whatever) for puny warranties.
In the meantime, bite the bullet and buy AppleCare.

If you walk into an apple store they charge you full price for the extended warranty. So it made perfect sense to buy this package and save almost $90. I just hope if my new mac powerbook pro ever breaks that the warranty purchased thru Amazon is as good. It should be since I registered it with apple without problem.

This AppleCare Macbook Pro package is not compatible with new Macbook Pro 13" Models that Apple introduced in 2009 and renamed MacBookPro 13" (silver). I mistakenly purchased the AppleCare MacBook Pro warranty version for my 13" MacBook Pro and I couldn't register the product on Apple's site.

This is not for the new 13 inch MacBook Pro. Had to find out through Apple tech support that this is the wrong one. Working on getting a refund from Amazon so I can get the correct plan. Packaging and description is confusing!!

I purchased this item a few weeks ago, with the intention of registering it to cover my new aluminum 13" MacBook Pro. I was unable to register online so I called Apple support and was told that this product, even though marketed as covering the MB Pro, was meant to cover the MB Pro with some type of additional display. The tech told me to return to Amazon and order the Apple Care product for the Macbook and the MacBook air. I'm not sure why there is confusion. The package clearly says for MacBook Pro. Amazon did let me return and reorder the correct, cheaper product that will work for covering my MB Pro.
