I'm learning how to work on my 98 Volvo s70 so I can afford to keep it and this tool has been indispensable for my trouble shooting for the following reasons:
1) Defines the code for you, this means you aren't always looking at a book or website to figure out what's up.
2) Backlit. If you find yourself out occasionally at night checking vacuum lines and other minor things, the fact you can read the screen is helpful.
3) Reads "pending" codes that have yet to register as a check engine light. This means you see a problem before it becomes urgent. The live data will help some on this issue as well, but I'm still figuring out where my vehicle should be. I have been impressed with the amount of live data I get on the machine given that I have a European car.
All in all, if you're fixing your own car you have enough stress on you without going back and forth from autozone to get codes read or having to look up new and mysterious codes. This is a great tool for a beginnine DIYer like me.

It linked up quickly and gave me the codes that AutoZone didn't. Helps out when you would rather avoid a dealer or local garage. Identified the area I need to troubleshoot. I cleared the codes easily to verify there was a problem and sure enough the Check Engine light came back on...the next day. Best Price I could find and it is a quality scanner.

I purchased this tool on friday and recieved it on monday. I had been getting a check engine light on my 99 Accura cl and every-time I took it to Autozone it came up as an "exhaust leak" code. I had replaced the exhaust from the cat back and had not replaced the catalytic converter. When I pluged in the 3130 a "PO420 Catalyst system Efficiency below Threshold" code popped up.I changed the cat and cleared the code with the 3130 and have not had the problem again. I am very pleased with the code reader with the exception of it will not plug into a USB port on my computer, you have to purchase a seriel to USB adapter for $10.00 which is hard to find in your local Best Buy or Radio Shack. They carry a $39.99 Special Adapter which is over-kill.Thank-you Amazon.Com for providing fast shipping and Reasonable prices on Items I need!!! I have several Honda vehicles and tried this code reader on all of them including a 2007 Civic Si and it works on them all.

The diagnostic code scanner function exactly as it expected. It is a useful tool for whowever has a problem. The only thing it does link to the PC. The manufacturer provided a cable connection to the PC and did not work, when I called the techniqual support about this problem they advice me to purchase a usb cable that costed me $36 dollars and still did not work. So I am disappointed to pay for extra feature that it did not work which is a waist of money. I havent gone through all the features, but it read the CEL on my 2002 Subaru Impreza without issues. The screen is backlit which is really nice.

Scanner works get, I was able to immediately pin-point the vehicle problem. Product is easy to use, the only draw-back is it is not a USB interface.
