This is really an amazing product. To be honest I didn't buy this because I hated shaving, but I stumbled upon this product when looking for other things in Amazon.com and saw the reviews and thought why not give it a try. I am so glad that I purchased this. I have waxed only once in my entire life, and never did it again because of the pain. I have always shaved - as a result, hair especially under arms grow very fast. And they are thick too and the shaving doesn't even last for 2 days. I already felt the hair the next day. I tried this product as soon as I received it.
Honestly it hurts - but really worth it. I tried doing it the way many suggested - down-to-up in a single stroke, but found it really hurts a lot. I tried down-to-up (opposite the hair growth) and in little short movements like 1cm at a time, and then I ran over it again and covered a little more hairy area (1cm again). This really is time consuming (took 2 hours for me for full legs, hands and underarms), but the pain is very bearable even for first timers. Got red bumps, but went away in 5 minutes. I showered after and hot water hurts, so I used luke-warm. Applied lotion and I'd never felt my skin like that in like forever. I discovered another thing - thicker the hair, more pain. It did hurt a little more at underarms, but I did from outer to inside just like 1cm at a time, so I could recover from the stinging sensation. But by the end of my session I got adjusted to the pain and it seemed normal.
I absolutely love this, it's like an investment. I've seen some people say that the cord is short, but it's 7.5 feet, longer than many hair dryers, I think it's the perfect length.

I'm a woman with very coarse leg hair and have never been able to get a smooth shave to last more than a few hours. I'm pleased to say that this epilator has done something no other device has been able to accomplish! I took the advice of others and shaved first, then I used the epilator. There were some areas around my ankles that I did not shave very well and OUCH! Take my advice and please get the hair as short as possible prior to epilating or it will hurt like hell! What really impresses me is that after four days, my legs are still soft and smooth. With shaving I would have to shave every day to keep the stubble away! I am prone to ingrown hairs, so I don't know how the new growth will be, but so far I have not had any problems. My very sensitive skin has not even turned red or hand one bump! I wish I had purchased this eplilator years ago! Bye bye stubble....Hello smooth legs!
P.s. The underarm area is tricky. I attempted to epilate it, but the head kept falling off! I must be doing something wrong :(

My epilator was about 10 years old and needed to be replaced. Needless to say bought a much cheaper model but that was a mistake. Then purchased this one and have to say overall pretty satisfied. The light was a feature I didn't think I would like and or use that much but it actually is a very nice addition, epilator works very well. The only downside I found was the noise level, it is a bit loud, but my last one was as well. So I think that is pretty common because of the motors they use, so it gets 4 stars, would give a 5 if they ever make a model that makes less noise.

My advice to every woman to buy BRAUN epilator... this brand is really very good and easy to use :)
I have had this epilator since last year and I absolutely love it! The first few times it hurt a little but now I am used to the pain. I am an indian girl with thick black hair on my legs and arms. I use this epilator and I am hair free for a few weeks! In between I do some touch-ups but the hair has been taking longer to grow back. Plus its finer so even if I have some hair which I forget to epilate, you can't notice it. It is very easy to use and clean. It is a bit loud but nothing that bad. For cleaning it, I take the brush, dip it in alcohol and wipe the entire surface of the epilator. I use a safety pin to get the hair that gets trapped inside the little holes in the cartridge that pulls the hair out. Doing that is time consuming but it keeps the device functioning perfectly. I have recommended it to my mom and a few friends who have all bought and loved it. I have not used this on my face and I will not because I have sensitive facial skin.
