| I highly recommend this video player. It's essential if you have a video IPOD that you have movies of videos stored on it. I use mine mostly when I'm traveling. When sitting in the terminal waiting for my flight to take off, I just take out my Sonic Impact and turn on a movie. It make the wait seem a little more enjoyable. I also use it when I visit the doctor's office and know I may there for a while. |

"Needs more than one earphone jack and volume that goes higher!" | 2009-06-01 |

| Decent unit - works great with my 60GB ipod. I bought this so my kids could watch ipod movies on the plane. Problem is that there is only one headphone jack and the volume doesn't go loud enough. |

"Very nice sound, have to re-encode videos but they do work!" | 2009-05-09 |

You can watch widescreen video, if you re-encode it right.
Will keep this short as everyone has covered most everything:
1) Excellent sound, I am listening to it now as I type and it sounds rich and high quality.
2) Does not play correct aspect ratio for widescreen without re-encoding. I just re-encoded an episode of 30 Rock that is widescreen as follows:
Software: Xillisoft Video Converter (windows)
Profile : iPod (320x240)MPEG-4 Mini (*.mp4) Zoom : Full (Keep aspect ratio)
NOTE: can also encode to 640x480 but the file size gets much larger, I like to fit more videos on my iPod. e.g. 30 Rock is 100 mb at 320x240, and 200 mb at 640x480.
The key factor above is the Full (Keep aspect ratio). What is does is stretch the widescreen video to full screen (4:3). So if you play it back on your ipod little screen, it will look stretched (skinny people). However, if you play it back on your Sonic V-55, it looks perfect as the Sonic will stretch it back to correct aspect ratio.
Soooooo, if you are willing and able to re-encode your videos (I just keep two sets of the episodes for my two iPods), and love having a portable boom box that sounds great on its own, this is for you. If you have no idea how to encode video, you will have to either live with oddly stretched video and/or black bars.

I wish I had know the company was in Canada. The product, which looked great, came on time, was packaged well, didn't work with our I-pod. Different generation or something so we had to return it. Customer service was easy to contact but it cost $26 dollars to mail it back and custom forms were necessary. Hopefully the return credit will come through easily for the product, I haven't seen the credit yet. No one wants to return something, and we would have found this product useful and fun but that is too much to pay for a return. |

I would love to know if anyone can tell me how to "reset" this thing. I opened it up and removed the battery, unplugging it completely. I had hoped doing this would restore the menu. I've owned it for some time and happy with the usual things. The product is good for its price and compact, I like it for traveling and sharing my music and videos with others. Some have said they cannot get the video output. Hopefully, they have applied their settings on the iPod for video out. I am hoping someone can give me a tip, since sending it in for repair seemed costly, and I only paid around 70 bucks for it and fixing it was around 50 bucks. I sure would appreciate any hints to reset it and get the menu back and then the video. I currently get a light blue screen only and no menu any more. :-( |

"Nice little video player" | 2008-12-24 |

| I purchased this for a 160GB ipod classic. Like other reviewers have stated, Apple changed the ipod software making it not work with the built-in 30-pin docking station. It will play music, which doesn't sound half bad. You can, however, still play video with the purchase of apple's composite AV cable, for 50$. You just have to work a little harder to get the video to play. The unit itself is nice and sturdy. One drawback is the only way to fully power down the player is with the included remote control. If you lost it, you could only put it on standby, which will still drain the battery. It also comes with a drawstring pouch and car charger. I'm taking it on a 13 hour car ride in two days so we'll see how it performs. |
