| I recently lost the first recorder I bought when I forgot it in a classroom at school. I was very happy with it and purchased the same recorder a second time. I purchased this digital voice recorder to tape my lectures at school. I had a hard time picking one out, but I finally decided on this one for the 2GB storage. I was very happy with the decision. It picked up my professor's voice in a big lecture room where I sat all the way in the back. There is a little bit of hissing with playback, but I feel that is expected. |

2 years ago after much thought and research decided to purchase the Olympus WAS-321M DVR. I liked it so much that I bought the newest model even though the first one still works perfectly. I was surprised to fin that it has been updated in many small and useable ways making for a notably improved machine even though at first glance they look almost identical. If you read "reviews" on this item, you will hear some complaints: in general, I have NO complaints about this item, EXCEPT - and it is one that I have never seen mentioned: I really wish it had a MANUAL RECORDING LEVEL CONTROL. WMA/Mp3 Music sounds as good as the source material. I bought rechargeable AAA batteries for this thing from www.all-battery.com which have worked great. In short: I LOVE THIS THING. thanks for stopping by TheThriftstoreMountaineer gKd |

| The quality of the recording is amazing. I bought it for my classes and for meetings ...no matter where I sit, the recordings are very clear. Very asy to use. I did not purchase it for music so I have not been using it for that. This is definitely one of my better buys online. |

| For notes, lectures and other recording this can't be beat. The built in speaker is low quality but still can be heard. I don't use this as a music player so I can't comment on it's capability. I wish there was a way to edit individual recordings such as removing silence or unwanted parts but there is not. You can only delete the entire file. |

Pretty nice piece of equipment - recorded a concert and it turned out really well - the only drawback I can see is that when turning it on/off, your hand naturally grasps the recorder - in a way where your fingers press the buttons on the other side. But...it's so small you have to put them somewhere and after a bit of self training its not that bad. I would and have recommended this recorder to friends.
Oh yeah, the Amazon price is WAY cheaper than Best Buy and other retail outlets. |

| I bought this to replace my cheesy MP3 player, old voice recorder, and USB thumb drive and couldn't be more pleased with it. I use it to record notes and trip reports, as a general purpose USB drive to transfer files (2 GB memory!), and to record high quality stereo from audio sources. I like the fact that it's a direct USB connection, so you can transfer files directly from Windows Explorer. The voice recordings are WMA files that Windows programs can use. The user controls, menu, and display are very nice. Check it out at http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_product.asp?id=1292. Download the instruction manual to learn more. |

I work by phone with people from all over the world. I needed a more efficient and cost-effective way to record and electronically send those sessions to anyone, anywhere.
The WS-331M has been the perfect solution. The recording quality is excellent. It's easy to use -- even for anyone not familiar with or into the latest tech gadgets (like me). The instruction manual is thorough, clearly written, and easy to understand. Even if you can intuitively figure out how to use the WS-331M without reading the manual, it would still be worth your time to read it because you'll pick up many useful shortcuts and tips. Since many other reviewers have gone more into the particulars of files, folders, etc., I'll spare you the repetition and stop here.
The best part for me is how easy it is to electronically send a recording. All I need to do is plug the recorder into my PC, download the session file onto my destop, upload it to Senduit-dot-com, and then send that link to the client. No worries about file size or email incompatibilities. It's brilliant.

| I have been using this recorder for the past few weeks and I love it. I highly recommend it. I've only had one issue with it since a purchased it several weeks ago. When using the Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA)at the factory setting, the beginning of every recorded segment after a pause is clipped off. It's possible that this can be corrected by adjusting the VCVA level but I haven't tried that yet. Also, according to the owner's manual, when using VCVA, recording automatically stops after one second when the sound volume is lower than the preset threshold sound level. I would like to be able to adjust this setting to two or three seconds, which would result in a more natural sounding playback, but that's not possible. |

| Does anyone know how this product can be used with Mac/iTunes? I purchased the recorder and like the USB feature, but don't see how to convert the files this recorder creates without third-party software, which I will not use. Has anyone been able to add the files the Olympus creates to iTunes so that recordings can be stored/burned, etc. as MP3 or other iTunes compatible file? Many thanks in advance for your thoughts. |
