"Almost perfect" | 2009-12-22 |

I'm not much of an audiophile, so I can't address the finer points. I bought them because I needed really good noise cancellation on planes because my netbook has very low volume. An employee at an audio store recommended these, saying I wouldn't need a headphone amplifier with them. He was right and the cancellation is wonderful. They're also soft and comfortable.
About the only downside is that their connection to the netbook isn't good as it's not flush, so I had to buy some inexpensive jack plugs. |

"Great NC Headphones" | 2009-12-16 |

I was thinking about upgrade my NC headphone and there are a few conenders. Sony digital NC, Bose, etc.
However, I always like the sound quality of Sennheiser. I feel the Sony and Bose is too bright and not natural enough.
Since I can not find any store to let me try this headphone, I decided to just purchase it from Amazon. The price is super good, what do I have to lose?
The phone arrived in a beautyful box. I let the phone run a few hours first to break it in. By the way, this headphone do require break in. It would great on the plane.
I am so happy I purchase this phone. |

"Bose QC15 vs. Sennheiser PXC 450 vs. Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7b" | 2009-12-11 |

Disclosure: I have tried all these on an airplane. I am not an audiophile. Noise Cancelation is the most important attribute to me.
The Carrying Case: All three are quite durable and stiff.
1.) Bose- the smallest, a low profile, room for an Ipod, accessories too.
2.) Sennheiser- Square shape, low profile, however not a lot of room for anything else in case.
3.) Audio Technica- Nice big case if you want to carry extra stuff (Nintendo DS, ipod, etc).
Build Quality:
1.) Sennheiser- you can tell this is built VERY well. Strong plastics, good components, thick cord. Top notch. You feel like you are getting something really high quality.
2.) Audio Technica- Nice solid construction, appears durable.
3.) Bose- If this had a Sanyo logo on the side, I would not have flinched. How can something $300 be so incredibly cheaply made.
Size:
1.) Bose- as far as over the ears go, these are pretty small.
2.) Audio-Technica- mid-sized.
3.) Sennheiser- These are big. No question, but they store flat.
Comfort:
1.) Sennheiser- Very comfortable, will fit almost any size ears. Keep on for hours.
2.) Bose- Also comfortable. I did not experience "highs" discomfort.
3.) Audio-Technica- Perfectly satisfactory. Larger opening than previous AT model.
Sound:
1.) Sennheiser- I actually wore these at home too, simply to hear parts of songs I had never heard before. Astounding. My 10yr old music collection sounded totally NEW.
2.) Audio-Technica- Well balanced, good sound.
3.) Bose- Great sound, but very heavy on the bass. I listen to a lot of rap and pop, so it was mildly annoying. I ultimately had to turn my treble settings up on my ipod to balance the sound.
Features:
1.) Sennheiser- nice cord, push to talk button (temporarily mutes NC and sound which is great for interruptions on airplanes).
2.) Bose/Audio Technica- just the basics. Bose simply an on/off switch.
Price:
1.) Audio Technica- $150 to $225 depending on how you shop.
2.) Sennheiser- $200 to $275
3.) Bose- Hard to find below $300+.
Noise Cancelation:
1.) Bose- No question here, far surpassed the other two. Best Noise Cancelation.
2.) Audio-Technica- Good Noise Cancelation.
3.) Sennheiser- Not sure what happened here. Incredible sound, satisfactory noise cancelation.
Summary:
I ultimately kept the Bose because I was only using these for flying and the Sennheiser's (as much as I loved them) let me down in the Noise Cancelation department. The Sennheiser's had by far the most superior sound, but the Bose Noise Cancelation was night and day. The Bose are made very poorly for a $300+ product, it was disappointing.
Final assessment:
Audio-Technica- best balance of value for money
Sennheiser- Best sound and comfort
Bose- Best Noise Cancelation

"Best noise-canceling, fulfilling sound quality, excellent construction" | 2009-11-19 |

These high end headphones perform great in environments with constant background noise. I have had these for just little over eight hours and the quality blew me away after canceling almost 95% of the background noise I have at work (I work in a lab with 100+ rack-mount servers and 300+ workstations). While the lows and heights aren't as good as without noise-cancellation turned on the sound quality and sound proofing are the best I have ever seen so far.
When noise cancellation is turned off you can hear instruments you would never have guessed they existed before... bass is very deep and heights are very "accurate".
You can really tell which song is high quality and which not with these headphones. A good player is a must too.
I have read many bad reviews before getting them and I'm not surprised. People are making uneducated assumptions and have unrealistic expectations. The noise-cancellation technology will NOT cancel every external sound, it just doesn't work that way. It will only cancel repetitive patterns and the passive cancellation will provide acoustic protection (the cups) maximizing the cancellation effect.
I can't compare them with Bose but I had a Bose owner wear them and he was impressed saying the cancellation and sound quality surpasses his QCs.
You can't go wrong with German workmanship ;) |

"Great sound and very comfortable" | 2009-11-14 |

| I previously had a pair of Sennheiser PXC 250; great sound but they were not built to last. The earphones use a small screw, screwed into plastic so eventually one pulled out. I read the reviews of a number of headphones and narrowed my choice down to these and the BOSE noise canceling. I was able to pick these up for a much better price than the BOSE so I went with the Sennheisers. I have had them for a month and am very happy with them. I am now use to the larger size but they are more comfortable than the 250's and the sound quality is much better. The only negative is that they do not go loud enough. I do not like someone else telling me how loud my music should be. One tip that I read on a review was to turn the volume up to full on the headphones and us your music source to control volume; that gives you a better sound. |

I don't understand the rave reviews. I bought a pair of these and they sounded so bad compared to my Bose QC1 I sent them back.
I got a new pair that aren't any better. They lack base and the sound is unclear and muddy when
compared to the Bose.
My advise it to listen to a pair before buying. I consider them a waste of money. |
