"Stay away, far away. 2 drives, neither lasted a year. eSATA didn't work." | 2009-05-18 |

I bought two of these about a year ago. They look pretty, but...
Drive 1 & 2: I got these for eSATA speeds. eSATA could not be made to work (Seagate technicians agreed) Drive 1 & 2: They run incredibly hot Drive 1: Failed in a few weeks, rec'd replacement. Drive 2: Failed after 9 months (disk crash) Drive 1: Failed mysteriously today (you can see the small internal light registering the attempt to start, but the drive does not start up)
To add insult to injury, I did not pay attention (my bad) to the fact that these drives don't have power switches (they have a press area to start them if they quiesce) and, since they are not recognized as "on" about half the time, I had to use the power cords to stop/start them so that they would be recognized upon power-up.
I am so irritated I don't even want replacements. My more recent large drives are Iomega - go there instead. |

"Top notch external drive" | 2009-05-08 |

I love this drive. I've had mine for almost a year now, and I'm just getting around to filling it up.
It has run nearly flawlessly, and has only failed to be recognized by my OS a couple of times (and each instance was fixed by a simple reboot). This in contrast to my Western Digital Mybook, which fails constantly and loves to just disappear in mid-transfer. Constant reboots of the computer and the Mybook are the catch of the day, and are frustrating to the point of violence.
Everything about this drive is great, excepting for 1 thing: it doesn't stand up well to even the slightest bumping, which makes it a poor choice for those that wish to take it on-the-go. I set my bag down a little hard a couple of months ago, and cracked the flimsy plastic base (which houses ALL of the connections, including the AC power), which nearly turned it into a canoe anchor. Other than that, I couldn't have picked a better, more reliable workhorse.
I'm getting another one! |

Highly recommend. The Seagate FreeAgent Pro is reliable, quiet, has a sleek look with an amber glow that fits with the surrounding systems.
My video review is at expotv.com : (not allowed to post it elsewhere too) (http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews/7/77/SeagateST307504FPA1E3-RKFreeAgentPro750/285394). Their search does not work as great as Amazons, so you may need to manually search. On the right-top corner, click "Community", on the left, search for member "beta", on the right, select "beta" (no numbers nor letters, just beta). Click the Seagate Pro review.
Used for expansion to the DISH DVR 722 Dish Network VIP 722 Dual Tuner High Def DVR Satellite Receiver. It is fast and easy to use to expand the DISH DVR's capability when you need extra space for your program recordings, especially important with the new high definition recordings that take up to 3.5 GB of space for an hour's show.
The Seagate FreeAgentPro comes with everything needed to upgrade your DISH DVR, including an external power supply and a USB cable which attaches to the USB 2.0 connector in the back of your DISH DVR. Hard drives can be added, to the VIP 722, VIP 622, and the DVR 612. HIGHLY Recommend Seagate!
Pros: Fast, Reliable - 5 year Limited Warranty, Sleek Looks
Cons: Dish software updates so that the hard drive could be used as direct expansion versus manual archiving. |

| I have been using this drive for almost a year now and have no complaints at all. As for the 4 over a 5 star rating...I will reserve that for products which go above and beyond in either performance or value. (if you are running vista and have ANY problems with your hardware...check vista before assuming your hardware is flawed) |

"Works great also as a night light...." | 2008-07-21 |

| Fast, quiet and works as advertised. The only thing that bugs me royally is its bright always-on orange light. For this, minus one star. Especially distracting in a darkened room to watch video. Otherwise, overall am pleased with its operation which I'm using for Mac OSX Time Machine. |
