"Too geeky for everyday, too large all the time." | 2008-09-10 |

Obviously many people love this watch, so there is a market for it. But for those of you who are on the edge, I would recommend against it.
First, its size. Reviews mention it is large, which I interpreted as being on the larger end of the spectrum of normal watch sizes. But it is more like, take a large watch, and then double it in size. It looks like a clock is attached to your wrist, not a watch.
Second it is not all titanium. It looks titanium, so I would say it is cosmetically titanium-the front and the band. But the back is stamped "stainless steel back" and I would guess from its weight it has more stainless steel in the body. It is much lighter than a stainless steel watch, but not as light as an all-titanium watch.
Third, there are too many adjustments, functions, and controls, and incredibly tiny script and icons that make the watch too busy and too hard to read. I wanted a altimeter-thermometer-compass watch, but some of the graphics and details are so tiny and crowded in, that the functions themselves are overwhelmed.
Fourth, the functions are not 100% reliable. When the watch is not fully charged, some functions do not work. And other times, even though fully charged, sometimes I do not get a reading on temp or compass.
Last, the band is harder than most to resize, due to these very small interior pin collars that pop out and have to be reinserted. It is a piece that is so small you might not even notice them, but if not reinstalled, the pin will not stay in place long term.
A nice toy, but since it is neither a precision instrument and nor a respectable piece of office jewelry, it ought to be a $50 purchase, not a $200 one. I would return it if I had not already resized it. |

"Great Watch; excellent timekeeper and great illumination dial" | 2008-08-15 |

This was a birthday gift. Once I went through the manual and set everything up, it remains pretty acurate (compass, altimeter, barometer). I have owned it two months and it has not lost one second. I set it to the Atomic Clock and I just went back and checked and it is dead on. It does not seem to stay at a full charge, even after 7-8 hours out in the direct sunlight in the middle of the day on a boat. But it hasn't ever reached the low charge state either.
Overall I am extremely happy with this watch. I own Seikos, Heuers, Tag Heuers, and Timex watches. This is the first digital (electronic) watch I have owned and it's a great one. |

"My boyfriend LOVES this watch!" | 2008-02-26 |

I purchased this watch as a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend and he LOVES IT! If your guy is a gadget-loving dude, you can't go wrong with this watch. The only thing you need to watch out for is the hourly weather reports he recites, the direction of the compass, how far above sea level you are, etc.
As for looks, it's very sporty and has a high wrist profile, but is very lightweight due to the titanium band. The band ran a little large, but this was easily remedied with a quick trip to the jeweler to have a couple of links removed.
Yes, this watch has a lot of bells and whistles, but use your head and common sense when it comes to the measurements. If you're flying a plane, use the aircraft's altimeter rather than the watch's for specific numbers, and so on.
Enjoy! |

"Great functions, good value, lighter than it looks." | 2008-02-13 |

This watch stands out in price/performance terms in this category. I replaced a 5-year old similar Casio model that was all plastic and required a battery. (When you are deep in the mountains batteries are a nuisance.)
With solar power the watch is always ready for action. It even conserves power when it sits overnight by turning off the display. All the functions work as documented.
One minor feature that is surprisingly useful to me is the time zone change function based on city location. It's much faster and easier to switch as you move around the world.
With a titanium band I expect this one to last at least 5 years. Although the watch is large and noticeable it is very lightweight.
Expect to get labeled as a bit of a geek if you wear this watch as a day to day timepiece. It's information over style although the looks work for me. |

| At first, the size of the face alarmed me, as it is rather large, but the style, accuracy and capabilities are very nice. Seems to be very durable, as it has taken more than a few hard knocks. Very lightweight and very attractive and eye catching. Easy to read and has way more capabilities than I will ever need, but are there just in case. |

Awesome looking watch all functions work well, a fitting replacement for my old Seiko watch that lasted me 30 years. My daughter has asked if she can have a similar watch for her birthday. |

| First the good news. If you want a wristwatch with multiple readouts, the concept behind this watch is excellent. I have owned and used a wide variety of wristwatches during the last several decades. This one looked excellent coming out of the box. Unfortunately, after about five months of normal usage by a computer scientist/aviator, the wristwatch abruptly quit working. Worse than quit totally, it now displays a compass heading, unrelated to my actual heading, when I press the Mode button. Want the field elevation of your location? After the problem occurred, you press the Compass button vice the Altimeter button. The secondary readout for time-of-day appears when you select the Barometer button, but no longer is there a primary readout of time. I've had watches with problems in the past, but nothing that could compete with this product. Oh, and the wristband says there is a thermometer sensor on board, but don't you believe it. 45 years as a computer scientist and 40 years as a Flight Instructor (Airplanes & Instruments) and it all comes to this? I sure hope Casio does better elsewhere. And yes, I did report this to Casio. |
