"Maybe the perfect high chair" | 2009-11-13 |

I love this high chair. I spent hours researching high chairs for my 6-month-old on Amazon and in books, and this one seemed like a no-brainer: it's easy to clean, is very stable and sturdy, doesn't scratch my floors, and is easily adjustable. I have been using it for about two weeks, and I love it! I've never written a review before, but this chair is so great, I just had to write one.
First, the chair was easy to put together. It took me less than 10 minutes (most of which was just opening the box). It's well-packaged, and instructions are good. I thought that the pnuematic lift might make it harder to assemble, but it's not -- the chair came in just three pieces (plus the tray)!
Second, the base of this high chair is great. I have new hardwood floors, and I'd read that the casters on most high chairs scratch wood floors. I'd pay a LOT to not have my floors scratched up, so the pricetag of this one (roughly $100 more than other high chairs I was considering) is especially justified even without its other great features.
The casters are under a plastic (stainless-looking) cover. It's easy to wipe up spills from the base. You can pay a lot more for the Elite version with a stainless-steel base, but I wouldn't bother. This is so easy to keep clean, and it looks fine in my stainless steel kitchen. I also like that the round base is impossible to trip over, , and my Roomba (robotic vacuum) just bounces off of it. It's easy to roll on my hardwood floors, but it stays put pretty well even without locking the casters. I've never bothered locking it in place. The chair is very stable on this base -- even moving it around, I've never felt like it was going to tip. My son is very active, too!
Third, the pneumatic lift works just fine. It takes a little finessing to get it right, but I wouldn't want it to be super-sensitive either. The height range isn't very big (only about 6"), but I love how easy it is to feed my 7-month-old while sitting at the kitchen table or at the island. I love that the chair is seated on the one pole -- like a barbershop chair -- rather than 4 wobbly legs.
Fourth, the chair itself is great. It wipes clean SO EASILY. It's wonderful. It does not recline, which isn't a problem for me because I breastfed and don't need a place to give my baby a bottle (even when he gets a bottle, we just hold him). It's easy to put my baby in the chair and strap him in. When he couldn't sit up as well (or when he's tired and slouchy), I just stuffed a rolled-up towel at his sides to help support him. I love that I can move the chair around the kitchen by holding the sides or the handle at the top (or sometimes I just grab the tray, but that's probably not recommended!). The post in the middle of the seat keeps my baby in place while I strap him in, and it keeps him from slouching down under the tray.
Fifth, the tray is great. It comes with two dishwasher-safe covers. Sometimes I forget to put a cover on, but the main tray is easy to wipe down. I love the one-handed, yet secure, mechanism to attach and remove the tray. It took a little practice, but it's easy and intuitive (and impossible for a baby to work from the chair). The size of the small tray is wonderful. Who needs more surface area to keep clean? When my son feeds himself, I'll probably just put food directly on the removable tray (wish there were 3 trays for this reason so all three could go in the dishwasher at night -- maybe I'll find a way to buy a 3rd or 4th!) and not bother with a plate. Plates can just get knocked to the floor!
I am so, so happy I bought this high chair. It looks great in my kitchen (and gets lots of compliments!), moves everywhere without scratching my floors (or even scuffing them), and cleanup is a breeze. It won't collapse to fit in a closet when we've outgrown it, but I suspect we'll use it for a long time.

| I love this highchair! It's very modern and stylish as well as being easy to clean. My baby has been able to sit in it since he was 3 1/2 mo old and enjoys being wheeled around the kitchen in his chair so that he can watch me make dinner. |

"Great high chair with little negatives" | 2009-09-11 |

I got this high chair when my baby was six months old and we have had it for three months now. I was debating between this one and the fisher price one because of price but i choose the boon highchair in the end. Overall, I am happy that i spent the extra money for the hair.
pros:
1) This chair is definitely easy to clean and the two trays it comes with is handy. There are no nooks and crannies and everything wipes clean.
2) The pedestal bottom is nice because there is no tripping over chair legs. At the bottom of the pedestal, there are wheels and it rolls easily on a ceramic tile floor and I don't think there would be a problem on any other floor.
3) The chair swivels easily so you can face your baby towards where ever you want (nice when multiple people are feeding).
4) The seat seems small and I'm a little concerned how much longer my baby will be able to fit in it but I think thats good in some ways because she doesn't wriggle around in it like other high chairs she's been in. She sits and eats. I think in the end, its a snug design and she will be able to fit into it for a long time.
There are only two small negatives that i would give this chair:
1) I don't really like the straps. I'm not sure why but I have difficulties snapping my baby in.
2) The pneumatic lift (which I never use) was a little jerky at first so I sprayed some WD40 and now its smooth as can be. |

This is the best high chair out there. Why? I'll tell you.
1) it is ridiculously easy to clean - a sponge easily gets everything very quickly. There are no cushions to absorb the mess or crevices for things to hide.
2) the tray is just the right size. It is very easy to handle when putting in and out. Other chairs have eneormous tables that are impossible to menuver. The inserts for this are roughly the same size as a large dinner plate - they fit in the dishwasher and the sink easily. Mine came with two inserts.
3) the footprint is much smaller than other high-chairs - it can be pushed up to the table and rolled around the house with almost no effort.
4) it is an attractive chair - not some monstrosity that makes your house ugly.
My daughter loves her chair. I obviously can't say enough about it. I really can't understand why anyone would buy anything else. After seeing this in our house, several people have bought it to replace the chair they already owned. The only negative thing I could possibly say about it is that at the highest setting it is a tiny bit wobbly - nothing even close to unsafe - just not rock solid. We almost never use the foot brake and just leave it to roll around the house. The wheels are great.
Once you buy this you will think everyone who owns the big ugly cushioned chairs is nuts. |

| After much research I decided to go with the Boon Flair Pedestal Highchair and I'm so happy I did. It really does roll very nicely on my laminate floors, with no worries of scratching. This is my first child and first highchair and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The design of this chair makes cleaning great and it does wipe down very nicely. I do like the smaller tray because I think it will be great to teach my son that he can't spread food everywhere. The white pad does seem like it could stain with some foods(it hasn't yet), so I thought that I might buy the orange pad too. Which would look good with the frosty blue color of the chair. I had read a few reviews that it might not fit bigger babies and have not had any troubles with my 8 month old big baby boy. |

This highchair is awesome. I say that pretty much only because of it's ease of cleaning. The tray can be quickly rinsed off in the sink and it comes with an extra insert if you want to throw one in the dishwasher. The seat is also easily cleaned with a wet towel since it's hard plastic and the padding is not cloth. The tray is very easy to install and remove and can be done with one hand once you get a feel for it.
The pneumatic feature is neat, but it doesn't adjust enough to get overly excited about. It moves maybe 6-8 inches. The whole thing is also easy to move around since it has wheels but with the brake applied is very difficult to move. It's very stable as well. The one complaint I have is the safety belts being hard to clean. They are removable however so that makes it a little easier. |
