I recieved this pillow, in addition to a Boppy pillow for my baby shower. I chose to take this one to the hospital with me and it turned out to me the best choice I could have made. I ended up with a C section, and my baby and I had a really hard time with nursing. The lactation consultant at the hospital said that this was the very best pillow for me in my situation. It helped me to feed well while sitting up in a chair as well as in bed, while keeping my baby and the pressure off of my very sore tummy. My son had to be nursed in the football position which places his body along my sides rather than across the front of me. I was able to turn the Breast Friend sideways and had great support so that I could nurse him with one hand.
Once we arrived home from the hospital, I used this exclusively for the first 4 weeks. On a couple occasions I used it to allow me to nurse at the table while I ate dinner. Now that my son is 16 lbs, we have mostly outgrown the need to use this pillow but it was very well worth having it, even if it was mostly in the first 4 weeks.
I would spend the money to purchase this pillow just for the help it gave me in the hospital. Breast Feeding was and is so important to me and having the right tools is what enabled us to get through those first challenging days.
The only con I would say is that it needs to be buckled in order to stay in place. I tried using it a couple times without buckling it and it kept slipping away from my body and my son was sinking into the crack. Not a huge deal because it only takes a moment to buckle but in the middle of the night it's just one more thing to have to focus on. Still, it was great having it!

I don't know what I'd do without it. The back support & clip make it a much much better support than the boppy. (I own both.) I purchased this as a second one so I could have one in the baby's room and one at the other end of the house.

My DS is now almost 6 months old and I can tell you, I could not live without this thing the first 4 months of his life!! I took it everywhere - to my parents', my in-laws, I even took it to friends' homes if I was visiting. It puts the baby in the perfect position and is very comfortable to wear. It is adjustable, so from the moment I brought DS home to 4 months later when my body had gotten progressively smaller, the fit was never a problem.
It has a small pouch pocket in the front, in which I kept a small tube of nipple cream and a small washcloth for dribbles. Once DS got bigger, he started to outgrow it (weight-wise), but even now I still use it for night feedings. He falls asleep on and if I didn't move around so much, he would sleep there all night long!
The cover is removable and can be washed, which it does fine, as long as you make sure the velcro doesn't get caught on any other laundry and tear stitching or something else. I suggest washing it on its own.
It is a bit more cumbersome than the Boppy since you really need to clasp it together for it to stay in position. When you have a hungry baby, sometimes that short amount of time to do the clasp can seem like an eternity! But that is a small inconvenience. I actually have one of each - the Boppy for one room and the MBF for the nursery.
I highly recommend this anyway. I love it!!
"10X Better than Boppy, easy to clean, use it standing up!"
The removable cover (zipper) makes this easy to clean (just make sure the velcro is stuck to itself when you wash it or it will stick to all your nice socks.)
My wife tried a boppy for the first month then got this, which she used continually for the next year. She has used it for all 3 of our children. The Boppy my sister loaned us was pretty flat after she used it for only one child.
You can even use it standing up or when you move around since the strap goes around your back. The strap also provides back & lumbar support. The pocket is a nice touch (you put your Lansinoh, cell phone, baby nail clippers, etc in it) The only possible downside is it isn't that easy to put on with one hand (for example, if you are already cradling the baby)
If you're price sensitive look around, there are often significant discounts for older colors.

My Bradley instructor suggested this breastfeeding pillow and I have to say it was perfect for me. It stayed in the correct position throughout the feedings and was easily adjusted to different levels on my body as he grew in size and needed to be positioned differently. Those middle of the night feedings were so much easier because of all the support it provided me while I sat up in bed. I bought an extra cover so when he had big spit ups I could have one in the wash while using the other, that worked out great and the covers, I had the soft ones, handled being washed in the machine just fine. They came out looking new. I also had a Boppy, but only found it useful for tummy time for our son. It was an awful feeding pillow in my opinion.
