"Revive your printhead"

I bought a Hp Officejet L7680 and after a good run of about 1 yr it indicated the black and yellow printhead needed to be replaced. I bought one thru LD at a good price and in less than 2 months the printer indicated again that the B/Y printhead needed to be replaced but now because of failure.
At $[...] a pop I wasnt going to throw good money after bad. So I bought a refurbed L7780 that has alot of parts in common and ran it for less than 2 months and the gal darned B/Y printhead was havin fits printing in dark black.
I tried everything and with a loss of trust in the product decided Id wait until the 3 month manufacturer warranty ran out because Tiger would then allow a full exchange value on another item.
Before giving it up completely I used a standard refill kit from a previously owned Hp. In it is a print head cleaner that is applied through a syringe. Well gooollleeee jeez! 2 printers later I found that the ink cartidge inlets and/or the electrical contacts bounce back after a cleaning. I now have 2 perfectly well running printers.
You can buy a cleaner for less than 20 bucks. Try it and save yourself alot of grief.
"Love It, Like It, Hate It. Great Printer. Horrible Installer for LAN/Wireless"
I purchased 2 of these about 3 months ago. Both were hooked up to XP-SP3 machines via USB. Installations went just fine. Now, time comes to move one of the two printers to a new location and use the Wireless feature on one of the printers. This is where things got tough. To make a looonnnggg story short, I worked with HP support for 15 hours trying to get the printer to scan via wireless. The installer kept failing, but didn't give any message or overt indication that it failed. Installer would hang at 96% for, say, 15 minutes, and then show 100% complete briefly and end. I didn't know that after completion of the 100% that a second set of installation screens was supposed to come up to finalize the swr install.
The first two HP support people were very nice and seemed very thorough. They created remote desktop sessions and each one worked for about 5 hours trying to solve the problem. The 3rd support tech also spent about 5 hours, but made several changes during the installation process.
At one point, they suspected the problem was my router, so I swapped out the router (DLINK DIR-655) with a Linksys WRT54G. Same problem. They then thought the problem was in my machine, so I tried to install the swr on a VISTA SP1 laptop and got the same result. I also turned off the wireless radio on the printer and connected the printer to my network via wired LAN, same problem. Installer kept failing. I used both DHCP and static IP addresses, no difference. This process eliminated the router and the machine as the cause of the problem.
Once they did get the configuration working, everything has been fine... but most people do not have the time or the patience for a 15 hour installation.
"The only thing WORSE than this printer is HP's customer service"

I received from the comapny what I was told was a new printer which ended up being a refurbished printer and I have now spent 7.5 hours on the the phone with them today trying to resolve the issue. It jams, it prints crooked (it loses 1/8 inch per half page). I am very computer saavy I haev a family member who works in corporate at semantec and and other who is a security manager for a bank and thay all warned me not to buy an HP...lesson learned. When I finally was able to talk to a manager he was rude. ARRRGGGHHHH DO NOT buy HP!!!!! Im going to now take this up with my credit card co.

"If you want to do more than print, it will waste hours of your time."
This seems like a deal on paper, affordable for what it does, but having owned these machines and other OfficeJet Pro models, I can say the amount of time wasted on these things is worth much more than the cost of a better machine.
Our company purchased three of these for remote offices, and all were supreme headaches. All but one has been totally replaced (and the replacements came with there own headaches). I'll just list a few of the issues we had.
Faxes are totally unreliable and frequently lock up the whole printer. PDF scans over 2 pages almost always lock up the whole printer.
The paper feeder on the second tray and and the document feeder both require frequent cleaning or they start jamming or pulling pages sideways.
All of them ended up with marks on the scanning window for the document feeder, resulting in lines down every pages.
Expensive print heads failed without warning, even brand new ones, though HP did replace some after hours on the phone.
The drivers are massive, do very little and crash frequently. I have no idea why HP thinks printer drivers need to be so intrusive.
HP's support is no help and will take hours of your day before doing anything that might remedy a situation.
My recommendation is to avoid at all cost, it's nothing but a plastic headache.
"So far, so good."

Installation was fairly simple, did experience problems with what turned out to be the software. During installation, computer kept crashing during installation of software. Luckily we had installed a like product in our office, so we had an extra copy of software since I suspected this was my problem. When installing another copy of software, installation was completed without any problem. Thus far I am pleased with this product.
