Maybe Pirates of the Caribbean is not the best movie in the history, but it is full of action and comedy, so is a good Item to own...

What a fitting ending to this trilogy! These pirates did more double-crossing than you could even imagine. Definitely a movie to hold your attention. Johnny Depp at his maddest, chasing crabs across the desert. Great fun.

All of the pirates movies are enertaining, but it is clear, even by the middle of the second movie that Disney was just milking this cash cow until it rolled over dead. The third movie has excitement and humor, but the first and most obvious flaw is that is it VERY long. Second of all, they tried to fit too much into the movie. We have finding Jack Sparrow, reuniting Will and Elixabeth, Davey Jones' heart, the rich English guy searching for everyone, and the matter of the spirit of the sea. The viewer gets simply overwhlemed with storylines and half the time can't even realize their total confusion because the movie is constantly flashing grade A special effects and fight scenes. This movie is entertaining, but it is too long, and overdone. I enjoyed all three pirates movies, but the first is the only one I watch more than once.

Good end to the saga with the open end of more possible adventures with Jack Sparrow.
The specials disc is great with a lot of extras any true fan will enjoy.

This movie was made for money. It is bad in almost every way ... acting, plot, CGI ... and a confusing mess that deserves to be thrown at 100 KM per hour straight into faces of the producers, the director, and its stars. I figure since it is such pain to watch, they, the creators, deserve some too...

You don't check out the third installment in Disney's ultra-mega-blockbuster for either great writing or sudden revelations. As Claude Raines says of Humphrey Bogart's Rick Blaine in "Casablanca," "He's like every man, only more so."

"At World's End" is just like the first two "Pirates" movies, only more so (or, for "Spinal Tap" fans, "this one goes to 11").

It should come as no shock that Jack Sparrow comes back from his gruesome death at the end of Part II, that villains get their comeuppance, and that visual splendours completely obliterate whatever qualms make arise from the charmingly-ridiculous plot. Johnny Depp and the rest of the world-famous cast do yeoman's work having a great time with this tremendous lark of a picture - working on this movie is winning the career lottery, to be sure.

If you talk about this movie with someone who complains that it makes so sense or there's a lack of quality character development, be thankful. You've just spotted a killjoy whom you should remove from your life.

Watch this movie with a huge tub of popcorn and prepare to laugh out loud and be amazed at stunning special effects. This movie, like Peter Jackson's "King Kong," is what big tubs of popcorn are for.

I'll never forget thinking how ridiculous a pirate movie from Disney would be when it first came out, but of course I was very surprised, and became a very big fan of Captain Jack Sparrow and all the other buccaneers, frilly dressed women, and powdered wig wearing men.

The third movie was better than the first one, the best in my opinion, it had to end, and I actually don't think I want to see another pirates movie, even though it is my favorite trilogy ever. It was darker, and it gave us a deeper look into the life of a pirate. The fighting scene at the end....WOW!!! It was a sad, but bitter-sweet way to end the movie, but in a way everyone got what they really wanted.

This movie is fun to watch and it rounds out the Pirates trilogy. Some of the plot turns are a little confusing and elaborate, but the story finishes the Pirates saga. If you are a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean in general, you will enjoy the crazy antics of the characters.

2 Star Rating  "Decent Movie, Disappointing dvd"2008-07-02

I am a huge fan of Pirates of the Caribbean and absolutely adore the first two movies. There was much anticipation about the third film and we all had our expectations. Segments of it work very well, but in this case, the whole is not greater than the sum of the parts.
The familiar "He's a Pirate" theme is replaced with darker music remniscent of a biker movie, and that's okay. The setting has changed from the Caribbean to the more exotic Singapore, and that would have been okay too...if it had not taken up almost all of the first half hour of the film. Even the traditional Hollywood ending of the first movie and the cliffhanger ending of the second movie have been replaced, this time by an open-ended ending that is not really a conclusion of any kind. Those who are fans of the traditional pairing of Will and Elizabeth will be disappointed, and those who wished to see Elizabeth change her mind and succumb to her attraction to Jack Sparrow will see her kiss just about every man in the series except him. So no one will be a hundred percent pleased.
Characterization takes a strange turn on more than one occasion. Davy Jones, a pivotal character in the second film, loses much of his mystique and danger. Maybe they had him cry one too many times, but he appears far less menacing until right at the end. Norrington, who was becoming more and more intriguing, is more like an afterthought in this part of the saga, and Will and Elizabeth barely speak to each other until the director whispered to them that they are supposed to make up in this "last" installment.
The movie really relies more on comedy than the other two since the climax is so dark and I stopped keeping track of the body count after the first hour. Even Davy Jones' Locker, which is supposed to be like pirate hell/purgatory, seems too frosted with comedy. So much could have been done to really get into Jack's psyche, but we see so little of it. It is too well hidden by the multiple Jacks and multiple crabs.
The dvd itself doesn't offer much and I was disappointed I wouldn't get to hear the entertaining and insightful commentary of the writers, who did commentary on the first two movies. There is a blooper reel which mainly showcases Johnny Depp, and that's about it. I know there is a special edition out there, but if you like the special features that tell you HOW the movie was made and why certain decisions were made, this is not the dvd for you.
However, it is a good movie, full of wonderful scenes like "parlay" and Elizabeth's scene with Sao Feng. If only it seemed like everyone knew what they were doing. The film industry hasn't even decided if certain aspects of the curse of the Flying Dutchman are in place or not and for a movie about pirates, there are only two main action sequences. The rest is exposition and attempts at characterization. But the film does not give any closure to any of the relationships, least of all the interesting dynamic going on between Jack and Barbossa.
But please do see it. I just consider it the weakest of the three and hope there is no fourth movie, although nowadays there will be since even terrible movies get a sequel or two or ten.
