Well to start off with, i have owned this radio for almost 2 years now. My dad got it first than i liked it so much i had to have one. Its truley the best radio you can get for the $$. i bought mine for 150..and my dad got his for 200.
The pros: It has a very in depth EQ system...to the point where most novice ownes can select a good pre made eq. BUt if you like to tweak and turn knobs, you can. So if you know the differance between 1khz and 250hz youll be ok. The back connector for ipods and cd changers is plenty efficent..BUT if you want to do both at same time, youll need a adapter for that. I have been using my ipod for more than a year now, with this radio. Its truly awesome. I dont evan need to touch my ipod. I can control it with the head unit completely...from random to repeat it does it all. Selcting what songs you want to play is easy as it is on the ipod itself.
Im running 4 pioneer 50 watt speakers x4 and a 800 watt sub. Its plenty loud with out any extra power needed for the high/mid speakers. It does have a sub volume selction also. It turns down the volume of your rca sub outputs to your amp or amps. So you can go from 0 to 8...Why 8 is full beats the crap outta me. /ponder..... Its has 4 rca outs for front and rear. I did find it odd for no rca inputs. How would i hook up a lcd or whatever im not to sure. :( . It plays every kinda of CD i have tried flawlessly...cd-rw..cr-r..cr-rw in data mode ( you can put like 150 or more songs if you burn cd in data mode)...everything works great...i have owned kenwood...pioneer...sony...everyone of those others sucks compared to this one. This is the best...but i did like my jvc chameleon :)
Just get it..unless you want a silly video player for your car. (cars are for driving not watching movies or porn lol) than this is the one to get...100% satisfation with this product...TY

THE RADIO WORKS GREAT UNTIL YOU HIT THE TRAILS , IT SKIPS SO BADD ON THE SLIDDEST BUMP( OH YEH I PUT IT IN A JEEP WRANGLER). I STILL CANT FIGURE OUT THIS HD CRAP THAT PART OF THE RADIO SUCKS. THE EQ IS COOL WHEN YOU GET IT SET . I WOULD BUY ANOTHER JVC MAYBE THE UPGRADED VERSION.
I pruchased this deck to replace a worn out cd player in my car. I really enjoy the clarity of the HD radio, but I do live around a city where I here HD signals are more readily available. I have not taken it into rural areas where I hear that signals can be hard to acquire. The cd clarity is as good as I need it, but I am not a really a good judge of quality sound. I just want a player that is clear and easy to use. I also like the optional ipod adapter which makes playinghte ipod in the car easy, and allows me to keep the ipod in the glove away from prying eyes. The only feature that I have not found useful yet is the remote. In my car the radio is not so far away as to necessitate a remote.

Standard installation, standard radio controls, figured it out before I had a chance to read the owner's manual. It'a amazing to hear the difference HD makes. With this radio you tune in your station, initially it picks it up in Standard Definition (SD), if it has High Definition (HD) content a little HD icon pops up. It then switches to HD. If the station has alternate programming pressing "Up" on the selector knob will go to the next channel that the station broadcasts, HD-1, HD-2, and so on. HD stations also broadcast their call letters so the radio will display the station as "KWMU - 90.7". This really a revolution in radio, I'm late to join the revolution, but I'm sold on the technology. Also, the CD player works great. Please review your local stations and wikipedia before buying to see if the technology is right for your needs and location.
My old car radio pooped out, and a local FM station kept hyping their "now broadcasting in digital HD sound." I looked the unit over very carefully. It has a bypass button in case the HD signal, which is very sensitive, goes out or if this turns out to be a dud. Remember AM Stereo of the 1980's? Quadraphonic of the 1970's? I'm afraid this will turn out to be the same. This receiver also receives HD2 and even HD3 stations, though HD3 stations right now are almost non-existant. Remember, anything digital comes in threes. All local broadcast tv stations now have three channels for example. Frequently the HD signal does goes out, but it does have an excellent analog tuner as well. AM-HD sounds great as well, but it too is very sensitive. The CD player is great, and overall this unit has enough bells and whistles to keep any audiophile happy with or without HD Radio. When the HD signal works, you can hit another button to see the track playing, which saves a phone call to the station if you really want to know. The sound on HD-FM is much better, but HD2 is nothing but an internet feed that the station passes along, and therefore not in "real" stereo; it sounds tinny and weird. I have found this to be true of all the FM stations with this technology. But I love the unit itself and as I say, you won't be "stuck" with it if HD goes the way of analog tv.
