I bought this a few months ago, so far pretty happy with it. Initially I was having problems in that the device would never load up a language file automatically so there was never any voice to the directions. After a firmware update, that was fixed, and no problems now. I think because the device uses traffic guidance it varies the route it will tell you take. This may be a good thing, but at times it may take you through an area that you don't want to go (ex, in NYC going from the BQE to the LIE, it wanted to take me through Flatbush ave in Brooklyn at 1 AM, I kept ignoring its directions). The screen is a nice size, brightness and volume are more than adequate. I ended up using the friction mount, which is a great product and secures it nicely. I always disconnect the device and lock it in the glovebox after I leave the car, so luckily it hasn't gotten stolen. Although I find doing a fresh restart on it each time, it takes about 2 minutes for it to connect to the satellite uplink and display my current position.
I own a Garmin Nuvi 760. I've had nothing but problems with it since the outset. Gives directions late -- mere seconds before your turn, which is useless at best and dangerous at worst.
Poor value for the money. Plus, they make you pay for accessories that others provide for free. Example: AC charger. I would never buy a Garmin again -- ever. CAVEAT EMPTOR!
"Great Nuvi - some misgivings"

I had an earlier Nuvi and loved it for ease of use. This new unit is a great upgrade. I like the traffic service, although I am still thinking about paying for this once the free period expires (only works in certain metro areas).
I was disappointed to learn that pairing with bluetooth devices is next to impossible, because of the use of a non-standard fixed passcode (why not use "0000" like everything else?). If this is not a big deal to you, this is a great unit. If that is important, other models (like the super-expensive Zumo 660) may be the way to go.
The 760 is great, but I do not like that my battery after 2 years only holds a charge for 10-15 minutes now and it is not user replaceable and costs $99 to have it shipped to Garmin to have it fixed even if I just want the battery replaced.
There are very few models that have user replaceable batteries such as the 8xx series which is more expensive, but I do not need voice recognition and they do not come with lifetime traffic included.

My wife and I took a cross country trip to Ohio and without the Nuvi we would more then likely still be trying to get there . Everything works as reviews said .The only thing that might be a plus would be more printed instructions . What comes with the Nuvi is fine for getting started but it has some many more apps that we found by trial and error , but maybe that adds to it . Would purchase another one positively .

After being with someone who had GPS on their phone, I trying out a Nuvi in a rental car on my next trip. I was blown away with how easy it was to use (no instructions on use from rental place). I decided then that I was buying one for myself. I've used in on a dozen trips in the last 5 months and even some around my home town (small city) I am now in the process of buying more for family and friends for Xmas presents. I loved the real time traffic updates which I didn't know was activated till I was trying to get around Atlanta in rush hour traffic. It helped us find dinner in the middle of nowhere and even my technically challenged brother was able to get home from the family reunion without taking the interstate (12 hour x5 states). I love that it has bluetooth, but at times I have problems hearing my caller clearly. I uploaded songs to it for the back roads in the rental van (just am/fm) and really have no major complaints. The best part is the flexibility I have had in being able to use it any vehicle I am in.
