| First unit had a problem with the audio randomly not working. Amazon was great in getting us a replacement unit ASAP! Like others might have mentioned, the FM transmitter is weak. Really like the unit. I even can use it for paperless geocaching when coupled with GSAK software and some macros. I cannot give the unit 5 stars with the audio problem it had. |

| I did a lot of research online before I decided to buy this nuvi. I have been using my nuvi for about a month now and it stopped speaking. It happened when I updated my map online with the free update. I tried the faq's and they did not help. I emailed product support and received an immediate reply. They helped me to fix the problem. The gps itself is sometimes off as in my home address but it still gets you to the vicinity of where you are going. I bought mine for a trip I am taking and expect it to come in really handy. I have been using it around town to learn how to use it and that is where I have seen some differences but they are really minor. The bluetooth keeps going on and off but I am not sure if it is not my phone causing the problem. I have used it during a phone conversation though and it worked great. For a hands free device it will do the trick if your state has laws against driving and talking on the phone. I downloaded some of my cd's onto a sd card and played them through my radio system in the car and it worked great. Alot better than through the nuvi itself. I also have used the navigation through the radio but I would rather have that thru the nuvi. I am really glad I bought this and for the most part I am pleased with my purchase. I would suggest this to anyone who wants to pair a bluetooth with navigation. The other features are just an added and welcome extra. |

| I'm completely satisfied with this product. The owner's manual,(which you have to download and print) is thorough but it does leave a few things out. Tech assistance answered all my questions. This unit is very easy to use and program. |

| I've had this Nuvi for about 5 months - got it fast from Amazon at a much lower price than brick and mortar store. I have even dropped it once on pavement and it was ok. We got the "bean bag" friction dashboard mount which is an absolute must. It keeps Nuvi solidly in place even on my husband's steep slope dashboard. I like how this Nuvi is easily portable in my purse to reduce theft risk. It's really easy to use and easy to read - I think the wide screen is definitely worth the cost. I don't like how this Nuvi can take you on a very roundabout way to get you to your destination, even on the fastest route setting. However, I think this is typical of ALL GPS systems. I also noticed that some restaurants and other places didn't show on the Nuvi but we knew they were there. Again, I think this is typical of many GPS systems. I have to say this is great Nuvi for the money and much lighter and more portable than Street Pilot series. |

I think I researched this purchase more than any other and narrowed it down to the Garmin Nuvi line. From there I bit the bullet and paid the extra for the 760. I have to say that I am definitely glad I did. I am also happy I waited before writing this review. At first I was impressed by the features but frustrated by screen freeze ups. I researched this as I was getting irritated and considered returning the Nuvi. After I downloaded a firmware update it works flawlessly. It locks on quickly and is extremely user friendly.
My only concern is that when my box arrived it said it came from Amazon Return Center. It seemed unused but seemed like perhaps it had been opened. That is a concern buying from Amazon because I have purchased high dollar items from them in the past and had a similar feeling but never a bad experience. It is just one of those choices between buying from a local retailer where you can see it is brand new and unopened, or buying from a large online retailer, where you can't pick the box yourself.

I travel quite a bit and have come across many GPS units.
The best GPS unit by far that I have come across was the built-in GPS system in my Audi S4. It blows away any GPS unit out there today.
I purchased this Garmin because I now bought a Porsche, and the adding factory GPS would have put the car way over budget.
I am not very happy with the Garmin from several perspectives, and I am writing a comparative review based on my experience with other GPS units, mainly the Audi Navigation Plus system.
re-routing on the Garmin is slow. The text to speech is horrible sometimes. For example: Tribourough Bridge is actually pronounced "tree borough branch". It is so far behind what I am used to. Sometimes words are cut off as if the unit does not have enough computational power to perform the task.
There are several features missing such as - intersection zoom, split screen turn/intersection approach, ability to display gas stations on the map, rather than a weak listing.
There is no warning for exits, only .2 mile warning. Other units warn you "prepare to turn left" within 2 miles. Sucks when you have to switch over 4 lanes.
Not impressed at all with this unit, and it is one of the higher end units. You might as well just grab another unit - or look at a competitor, OR if you can fork over the money, test out the factory GPS of the car you are looking at. |

My fiancee and I bought this with the intention of letting her find different routes and traffic warnings to her new job and for us to use on weekend trips, etc. We tested it out all weekend going random places in the area and comparing its directions to the way we would take, it was pretty good. Very easy to use its main features and most importantly it clearly speaks the directions (including street names usually). The only two problems with it so far are:
1. It can be difficult to program in a custom route, especially when the spots you want to mark have no mailing address, like a highway.
2. Yesterday the device stopped talking though and it took a while to find the option to enable the voice again. We don't know why it got toggled off in the first place.
Overall the experience has been fine though, including the hands-free phone through bluetooth. I would recommend the device to anyone considering it. |

To make a long story short, but hopefully helpful to someone interested. I have owned or had experience with Tom Tom, Magellan, Sony, and Harmon Kardon. I recently picked up the Garmin nuvi 760 this year. It is by FAR the best GPS system I have owned or ever used!! It has the fastest most detailed routing, and it is by far the most accurate unit I have ever used. It has taken me pretty much to the doorstep of every address I have thrown at it. TRUST me, for the price Amazon has it for, GRAB ONE! I went to a local radioshack, they wanted TRIPLE the price! Same with a local Circuitcity.
Please note that there is NO PERFECT GPS SYSTEM. This unit has been wonderful and has been right 98% of the time. It's never made a big mistake like I experienced with Tom Tom(STAY AWAY). | After reading numerous customer responses I am very happy with my decision to purchase the Nuvi 760. A recent vacation and job change has utilized my Nuvi and made travel in new cities a pleasure. I especially like to utilize the features to find fuel, shopping and lodging. I am still undecided about getting the MSN direct appartus, but time will tell. This is an awesome purchase and Amazon provided speedy service and a great value too. |

| I bought this 760 to replace a stolen Nuvi 660. Initial impressions after using for a couple weeks:br /br /Positives:br /Sleek design, good looking, and no antenna/receiver moving parts.br /Good interface, intuitive menus.br /Bluetooth phone functions are easy to use.br /Volume control easy to adjust (better than the 660 where volume is annoyingly buried in a sub-menu).br /br /Negatives:br /No AC wall charger included, only a cigarette adapter. My 660 came with one, and as one of Garmin's higher-end units, this one should too.br /No carrying case. Again, my 660 came with one, and it's petty of Garmin not to include even a basic sleeve to protect an expensive piece of equipment, forcing you to spend another $15-20 on a case to keep the unit looking and working like new.br /Poor speaker quality. Again, I can only compare to a Nuvi 660, but the sound from the 760 speaker is tinny, thin and warbly. Sound quality of turn-by-turn directions is poor, as is the voice quality while using the Bluetooth speakerphone. I read that the dual-speaker 800-series sounds much better, but you pay a big premium.br /br /All in all, Garmin makes a good GPS and I'm sure this one will serve us for many years. But I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth because I feel the 660 offered better value and better sound quality for less money. br /br / |
