| We have been happy with our IP4300 at home so when the time came, we got each of our daughters an ip4500 for general purpose desktop printing for college. I like the front paper tray and flat top so it can be put on a shelf with only front access and stuff can be stacked on top. This makes a nice footprint when you only have limited space. It is very reliable as I don't think we have ever needed to manually realign the heads or clean the print nozzles (like our previous printer) since we got them. I like the 5 separate ink tanks because I feel I'm not wasting as much ink that way. It is easy to produce excellent photographs and we do that a lot. I'm not a fan of the all-in-one combo printers so I still think this would be my first choice (or maybe the ip4600 when it is available) if I would need a new desktop printer today. The only nit I have is the power switch isn't quite as "positive" as on the ip4300 but its no big deal. |

| I wanted something good for home use. Everybody (kids and adults) operate it with ease. Easy quick set up. Quality of output is excelent. Double side printing is semiautomatic (you do have to switch your batch of paper) but you can't ask for more for the price which was by the way cheaper in Amazon. |

| Canon Pixma iP4500 Photo Inkjet Printer (2171B002) I had enjoyed my HP inkjet for 4 years and did a lot of research to find one that did duplex printing. The Canon has been doing the job just fine and the color is very good. I make all my cards and this printer fits the bill. I have been using it since September and so far am very pleased. |

| This so far has been a great printer, I really like the dual feed capabilities. I keep photo paper in the back and regular 8x11 in the front cartridge and with a touch of a button select which tray I want to print from.br /br /NOTE( the printer does not come with the USB cable) I wish AMAZON pointed this out when I purchased it!!!! I set up the printer one rainy Saturday morning and then had to run out the Best Buy for a $35 USB cable... |

"Good Printer ... but Auto Power feature impacts other USB devices" | 2008-09-21 |

| I am very satisfied with the iP4500 EXCEPT for the Auto Power feature. The Auto Power feature works as advertised, BUT with Auto Power enabled (in the printer's driver), I experience severe performace problems trying to read from other USB devices. With Auto Power enabled, all reads from other USB devices eventually fail, and the Windows System Event log gets filled with Event ID 51 errors. Once the Auto Power feature is disabled, read operations (to other USB devices) have no problems. I have reported this problem to Canon Tech Support, and they are "looking into it". I do not know if this problem occurs with other Canon printers, but if you have an iP4500 and enable the Auto Power feature, be aware that you may experience failures when trying to read from other USB devices. |

| Great inexpensive printer. Canon has excellent quality. Great text printing, better than I imagined. To my eyes, it is as good as a laser, if you use inkjet paper. Plus color capability. I Have not printed enough to say if it is expensive for ink, but the printer is practically free at this price! Photos looks great, but I use it mostly for all around printing. Great Amazon price, fast free delivery with Amazon Prime. I would highly recommend. |

I recommend this product. It was easy to set up and use within 15 minutes out of the box. I'm a serious amature photographer and this is the best printer for ease of use but especially for print QUALITY. I have owned HP Photosmart printers (2) and an Epson photo printer. All dedicated to photo print jobs. All high quality machines. All did a good job. I compared 2 photos on 3 different brands of paper with the same 2 photos that I had printed on my other printers. The first thing I noticed was that the prints (full 8 1/2 X 11) came out in about 5 seconds and they were dry. When I compared the prints, the Canon gave me slightly more vivid colors and finer detail. This Canon does a GREAT job. And the price is right; especially if you can purchase it on line. I give it 5 stars. photofanatic |

"Very pleased with the printer" | 2008-09-16 |

| I have been very pleased with this printer. My old printer was a HP722C which was 8 years old. I had no problems with the setup other than there was one place the instructions were not very plain on just what they wished me to do next. However, I just read it over again and realized ther was only one way to go, and I did. The printing is, for my part, very good. And it is a fast printer. I am retired, and most of what I print is personal documents, and birthday cards, etc. The colors are good and the printer does duplex printing -- it will print both sides of the page without my having to turn the paper around and re-enter it. Have not used it long enough to know how much ink it uses and how much it will cost to replinish. I would buy it again in a minute if I had to buy a second printer. |

| This is a great printer but it amazes me that the IP4500 doesn't come with the CD Caddy in the USA. I own an (Australian)Canon IP5200, which is the same as the IP4500, but it came with the CD caddy and program to print onto CD/DVD's. But all was not lost, for an extra $24 on ebay you can buy the caddy and see a video on line on how to activate the CD/DVD printing funtion of this unit. |
