"love it!"

our family loves this product! my mother suffers from carpal tunnel in her wrists and is unable to vacuum as much as she would like (she's a clean freak and accepting of it). our roomba (now renamed rosalita, after rosie from the jetsons) does a great job cleaning three tiled rooms with alternating rugs and plenty of furniture to bump into. the roomba is obviously not able to get every corner but it does a great job trying. she's full to the brim every time we empty the container of dust! we run rosalita on a schedule twice a week, before and after weekends, and we don't wear shoes in our home and she still comes back with a full bin of dirt every time. its amazing how much dirt appears in the course of a few days despite our home being as clean as it is. the scheduling is very convenient as shes cleans and returns to base (under the couch out of sight) for charging without any interaction from us. we just have to remember to empty her out at the end of the day.
i have a few complaints that are mild importance to the overall functionality of the product. the spinning (detachable) brushes that peak out from under the right front to reach hard to reach corners break off in a matter of a few months time. the replacement ones are too expensive to sanely purchase again and again. we have opted to just leave the spinning brush off.
my second problem is that though the device slows down before it makes contact with furniture, its still plenty capable of denting or scratching your furniture over time. we didnt notice this at first but over time all of our furniture has black marks at 3 inches from the ground all around the house. there is an easy solution to this, although i wish it was built into the product design. i read this in other reviews and chose to ignore it but i highly SUGGEST THIS. just add some adhesive padding to the entire outside of the device (being careful not to block any of the sensors). this has pretty much solved the scratch and bumps problem.
overall we are very satisfied with the product and i always recommend it to friends. it has come to virtually replace our home vacuum which i didnt think would happen at all. this little guy has exceeding our expectations.
"Thumbs up for this little devil!"

iRobot has been of great help.
Just turn it on and he does the rest.
Easy as that.
"SquareTrade Warranty"

For those who have had poor success with the Roomba, I would recommend buying a Squaretrade extended warranty. It is only a fraction of the cost of the Roomba and can provide coverage for up to 2 years after the manufacturer's warranty expires.
I feel like I have my own maid. I have named our Roomba. We have demoed our Roomba at a friend's home because he could not believe it would pick up more after he vacuumed with his Oreck. It picked up not only more dust and dirt, but also more dog hair. They may not pick up your kids' crayons, but do you really want to do that? I love my Roomba! My large bulky vacuum comes out just once a month now, if that. It goes from surface to surface, from carpet to hardwood, and just keeps cleaning. This is a five star item!!! Too bad they don't give ten!
"owned for more than a year - works like a charm"

I had iRobot Roomba 560 for more than a year now and it still works perfectly.
Haven't changed any parts at all, it cleans my apartment three times a week. Cleaning it only once a week.
Some users are saying that it will "eat everything" - that is true. Before going to work I just making sure that there are no small stuff on the floor, otherwise it will confuse the robot. Also try to tie your loose wires, it shouldn't cause a problem for this robot, but rarely it might get trapped in wires. :)
Also use virtual lighthouses (two comes with 560 model), as it will help Roomba navigate inside of your apartment (unless you live in a studio).
Considering buying iRobot Scooba to wash my hard wood floors.

I have a newer version (570) than many of the commenters here and it appears many previous issues are a thing of the past.
I got mine on Christmas, 2008 and have it auto-scheduled to clean my kitchen 4 days a week while I'm asleep plus 4 others rooms once a week. I have two cats and no children.
Over 200 cleans and not a single problem. My side brush hasn't lost a single whisker.
I empty the bin once per room but its never been more than a quarter filled.
Don't be fooled by it being overwhelmed the first time you use it. I think it cleaned so much better than my Hoover that initial cleaning are intensive.
Now, I empty the bin once a week for my kitchen.
It picks up hair better than my Hoover. Some gets stuck in the brush cover wires but I think this is a design feature. I pull out the brushes after a full cleaning day and clean it. Takes about 90 seconds. Then I wipe the cliff eyes, wheels, etc. Takes 30 seconds. Emptying the bin takes 10 seconds.
Battery still cleans two rooms at a time. I havent noticed any degradation in its systems. Mine came with batteries for the lighthouses and they are still good 10 months later. Although twice they 'acted' dead with the blinky light and everything. A tester showed they were still strong so I put them back in and they are still working.
All issues I've read about here are a thing of the past with my machine. I think you need to be a little vigilant with minor maintenance and you'll never have a problem.
I have one recommendation: My bedroom is think pile white carpet and it leaves one visible tire mark around the perimeter of everything. Its straight and even so its doesnt look bad but its always in the same spot unlike regular vacuums. But its a small price to pay for being lazy and cleaner than ever. I think a wider tire would help and spread the weight out.
Some have reported it 'wanders aimlessly' once in a while looking for its base. I've noticed this maybe 1-5% of the time. However, while indeed it can miss the docking 'eye', it only leaves the dock to come back for a better approach. But it always uses it's algorithm to navigate which make it seem lost. I think if you ask anyone, you'll find it Always finds its dock.
Also, the lighthouse works beautifully but it causes an 8" 'bubble' around it to remain uncleaned. But I can live with that. (the virtual wall too but if can stick it behind a door way like the instructions ask you to it avoids this issue wonderfully.)
Once you have a slave vacuuming your floor you'll never go back, I promise you that. I'm planning my scooba purchase next.
