"Computer is great, Windows Vista Home Premium is not" | 2008-02-08 |

I've had this computer for about two weeks now. The machine is sleek, has a beautiful display and is everything I expected from Sony. On the other hand, Windows Vista is a disaster. Having worked with XP for a number of years I can only say that XP is a far superior OS than Vista. Vista has way too many functions that always seem to interfere with user's easy manipulation of the computer. It took me several days to figure out how to disable some of the unnecessary and quirky functions. I suppose that with time I will get comfortable with Vista but the learning curve is steep. The only thing Sony could do to improve this machine is to not overload it with sample software that many will probably not want.

I admit it; I was skeptical. Now that I've been using the computer for about a month, I can honestly say that this is the easiest to set-up, fastest-booting computer I have ever used. I deleted MS WORKS and added MS OFFICE PROFESSIONAL and set up WebShots as my wallpaper/screensaver, and I am very pleased with everything about this computer. The initial purchase price is a bit steep, but the ease of set-up alone justifies the higher price.

This product is not only asthetically pleasing, but the qaulity and performance is amazing. I have had it for 2 months now, and LOVE IT! You will be very happy. The keyboard is great, mouse good size. The T.V. is a not as clear, but that is probably b/c i am still using the old cable, and not the tv digital box. The computer screen itself is amazing. BUY IT!!! :)

I have had this PC for a month now. It is flawless. The monitor is crisp and beautiful. Everyone loves the look. I am using it in my office. Very impressive just sitting there with a desktop background slide show going. Looks like a beautiful picture frame with the clear border. No tower and wireless keyboard and mouse make for free uncluttered workplace. The size of the monitor allows multiple windows up and running. No problems using Vista Premium at all. Very intuitive. Computer is fast and very quiet, a pleasure to use. I do not use the TV function so can't report on that but DVD Movie playback is beautiful. The speakers sound great with AOL Radio in background. All my periphreals set up easily. "Crysis" ran very slowly before I bought and plugged in San disk 2 gig memory stick with ready boost. Haven't tried "Crysis" again. But did try "Nexus-Jupiter incident" and it ran flawlessly at highest resolution. I would not reccomend this computer as a high end gaming pc because of its limited upgradeability at this time. This is the future of the pc workstation/gaming rig. As more powerful parts are miniturized, the no tower, all in one machine will become mainstream. For me, I could not imagine going back to a tower again. Hope this was helpful.

We always bought computers around $600 to $900 and always had problems with them. So this time we wanted to go all out, I ask at 2 stores which was the best computer and was shown the VAIO VGC-LT15E at both stores & both store were sold out, and they just got them in. But Amazon still had them and cheaper then the stores, and I got it delivered in 1 day!!
This computer is fast. When I use to load software on my other computers it would take a 1/2 an hour to get them loaded. On the VAIO it only takes 5 minutes!! To load new software. Stick a disc in and in minutes you are using the software. Best thing I liked about it, a friend came over and said "wow you got a new fancy flat screen TV" she was amazed it was a computer too!!
Only draw back is the wireless mouse and wireless keyboard, I never have battier in my house; with 3 kids battier never last long in the drawer they disappear fast. I can see the mouse or keyboard battier dieing in the middle of the night & having to wait for morning to load 3 kids in a van to go buy more will be annoying!! But I'm sure ALOT of people won't have this problem. But still I wish the keyboard & mouse came with cables so I could plug them in, when I don't have time to run to the store for more battiers. Other then that it's a great computer no problems at all!!

Bought the unit, thought it was great, hard drive crashed 29 days after I opened the box, still working with cutomer service to get problem resolved, as with most other companies, they are outsourced overseas, hard to deal with, have the Sony extended onsite warranty thank goodness, still to get someone here to fix it. Have numerous other Sony products including 3 laptops 2 TVs and 4 cameras with nary a problem, guess this was a fluke hpefully.
