You can easily connect to your home wireless network and sync your Zune with your PC collection of digital goodies. You can also sync using the dock, AC adapter, or speaker dock accessory (not included). This attractive, powerful device does much more than connect you to just your collection. The Zune is all about sharing and community. At the Zune Online Community you'll discover, share, and leave your musical mark. Zune software can automatically import your existing music, pictures and videos from iTunes and Windows Media Player in a variety of formats, including your existing playlists and song ratings.

FM Radio, TV Shows, and More
The Zune will also automatically import TV shows or movies recorded using a PC running Windows Media Center in Windows Vista. The Zune also features a built-in FM radio tuner so you can listen to local FM stations or tune in programming while you're at the gym. Plug your Zune into your Xbox 360 to customize the soundtrack in supported games. You can also stream music, pictures and vidoes from the Zune software on your PC to your Xbox 360 console using a wireless connection. Do NOT purchase this product for $400. You can get both the red and black one for $200 on the Zune Originals website (plus a free engraving) or on Walmart's website.

3 Star Rating  "Overall: pretty good, but durable? Not so much."2009-11-08

I'm not going to waste your time reviewing every single minute aspect and feature of this device. I will say I got my 80gb Zune 2 years ago and it's done pretty much everything I have needed it to. I consider myself a bit of music enthusiast, and the main thing I use it for is having my music available at the touch of a button wherever I go and plenty of room to add more as my collection constantly expands. Of course it has a million other features too, some of which I use and some I don't. I still occasionally discover a feature that I had forgotten about or never even knew about. So in many ways it far exceeds what I use it for, but I also have a few complaints. Keep in mind that there are many, many things I love about my zune, but to keep this review as concise as possible, I'm not going to go in to all of those things because it's far easier and quicker to just list the the few main things I DO NOT like about my zune. Aside from those things, I was pretty satisfied.

Here's what I regret:

1. No volume equalizer. I very much enjoy making and listening to playlists. Many of my playlists sound ridiculous because of the varying volumes from album to album.

2. No smart playlists. I've always wanted to be able to have a playlist generated for me by whatever criteria I specify.

3. Limited accessories. At least compared to ipods. My wife has an ipod touch and if she needs anything for it, there is an infinite sea of accessories for her to choose from. I am most jealous of a handy little cord which enables her to hook her ipod directly to her car stereo. As far as I know, zunes have no such thing. The closest comparable method is a device that plays your zune over your car radio but I have tryed this before and it reduces the sound quality to the extent that it's not worth it to me.

I can live without the 3 things I listed above and overall I WAS satisfied with the performance of my zune. But a fourth thing happened about month ago and it's got me seriously pissed off.

4. The buttons have stopped working. Excuse me while I rant about this for a moment. I'm assuming this happened because I use it too much. (I use it every day, sometimes all day.) This is by far my biggest complaint, because these things were obviously not built for people who actually want to use them all time. If you sell something, you should probably assume that the people who buy it are going to use it and if they want to use it a lot, it shouldn't break. I paid at least 200 bucks for this thing, and I expected it to last a lot longer than 2 years. I could be wrong about this but I think the zune warranty lasts 1 year. In any case, my warranty is expired. I was curious to see how much it would cost to mail it in for service and I discovered they charge a flat rate of $150, which, if I wanted to spend that much, I could probably buy a brand new one for on this very website. Microsoft must be making a killing selling products that break after 2 years, and then they give you the option to either buy a new one, or get your current one fixed for about the same price as buying a new one.

Writing this review has been a good venue to channel my frustrations but it provides me with little comfort since my zune is still nearly impossible to navigate and it'll be a long time before I come across enough money to get a new one. If I decide Microsoft even deserves my customer loyalty to get a new one I will definitely be looking into extending the warranty (if they offer that option) and I'd recommend you do it too.

I have had two zunes so far. I got the vary first one which i loved but then cracked the screen on after dropping it i only had the old one for about 6 months. Then for Christmas that same year i got a 80gb zune i loved it even more than the white one and i liked the look of it. But just recently i dropped it in a acrylic case that i thought would protect it which it did the outside the case and the outside are just fine. But the zune does not project anything on the screen even though it still lights up and the lcd is not cracked. Good mp3 player but it is not durable to drops and rough use. I am going to apple next to try them out if that does not work maybe the zune HD.

The Zune 80GB is by far the best mp3 player I have ever owned. I loved the old Creatives, but after they because too hard to get a hold of, I decided to get a Zune, and I couldn't be happier. The screen is HUGE, comparatively, and the sound is great. The Zune store is even handy, as you can sometimes get free music or videos (The Guild is free). The software takes a bit of getting used to, but the hardware functionality is so easy to learn and use. If you are on the fence, buy one! It is totally worth it.

I have owned my Zune 80 for over a year now and use it every day. It has been a complete joy to have. Here are the best features of the product:
1. Solid construction feels great to hold.
2. "Squircle" interface is intuitive and easy to use. You have a fantastic ability to scroll through huge songlists very quickly.
3. FM radio allows me to tune in to local stations, but also TV audio in fitness centers that broadcast audio over FM. Essential for anyone that works out.
4. Wireless Syncing with my PC. I have a wireless network at home, and an iHome Zune alarm clock/radio in my bedroom, and can sync up my music, pictures, videos and podcasts while Zune is charging on my alarm clock, rather than carrying my Zune to my PC and syncing it with a cable.
5. Zune software for PC works fantastic, and I can view my music in ways my wife that uses an iPod truly envies. The Mixview is extremely interesting and has introduced me to music I would not have heard otherwise.
6. The Microsoft points you purchase for downloading music also work for XBOX Live Marketplace purchases, as long as you have joined your Microsoft passport to both your Zune account and XBOX Live login. I love the ability to use the points as I see fit, and have them accessible for other online purchases.

Things that could be improved:
1. Sometimes I have a hard time pressing The "Squircle" button squarely enough, and instead it advances to the next song, scrolls through a menu option, or increases/decreases the volume instead of doing what I wanted. A minor annoyance, but a tactile indicator communicating the Squircle center would have been nice.
2. Wireless marketplace features are useless in WiFi areas that require you to be directed to a start page that ensures you accept the terms of service for use of their wireless network. Since there is no browser, there is no opportunity to accept those terms, and therefore, browsing opportunities are impossible.
