I've bought a couple of Epson RX models over the years, and this last one will be the last Epson *anything* that I buy. Nothing is more frustrating than running out of ink when something needs to be printed, and even if you don't need that color or don't black there is no way to print. The cartridges are expensive and they run through much faster than any other printer I've used. The 6 color system was attractive, but it's just a tease and a way to gouge their customers.
On the plus side, the picture quality is excellent and the scanning has worked perfectly.
"Excellent All-in-One for under $200"

I bought my Epson RX595 All-in-One (Printer/Copier/Scanner) on 12/01/2007 directly from Epson for $195.00. When you buy directly from the manufacturer you usually pay more than from other retailers. I bought this when it was brand new on the market. It is a great unit. However, as of today, I see it is now discontinued on the Epson website. They now have newer and better systems, selling for less than this did. My point is, don't pay more than it's worth when you can get something better for less. I see this unit from this retailer is trying to sell it for $385+. That is absurd! I was trying to determine the current value of this unit, as reason I came across this ad. It is not worth $385+ and it never was.
"Ink aside, this model is a lemon."

When I say my RX595 received light usage, that's an understatement-- I'm talking ONE scan or copy per WEEK. Needless to say, unlike heavy users of this unit, I have no complaints about it drinking ink. However, I DO have a complaint about how poorly it is made.
I had an Epson 1270 for 7 YEARS, using it daily, with NO complaints-- that's why I stuck with Epson when it came to an all-in-one. Within 8 months of the aforementioned light usage, I had to return the RX595 due to a stuck print head. Epson customer service was very efficient and great to deal with, exchanging my unit for a refurbished unit.
Eight months later, after the same ridiculously light usage (now 4 months out of warranty from the ORIGINAL unit), the scanner has a 1 inch wide, dead/pixelated strip, that runs lengthwise throughout the entire scan. Epson now tells me I have to pay for repairs to a unit that received practically no use.
Maybe it's my fault. Maybe you're supposed to use the RX595 more than once per week, for more than one scan or print. Maybe it's like a poorly made car that needs to be started every few days to keep things primed. Catching any sarcasm here? This thing is a lemon from the get go. I'm glad many people don't have this complaint, but is it really worth the risk of buying yourself a born clunker? Especially with so many other choices out there.

Having used Epson printers now for 10 years i can certainly recommend them. I have had little or no problems with them and find it easy enough to buy cheap compatible ink cartridges making them very cheap to produce good quality prints. The DVD printing abilty on this model is great to.

I have had this printer for about a year and it is still performing like a champ. It does suck down the ink but I haven't found a printer I like that doesn't, so I really can't hold that against it. I have printed b/w, color, photos, and scanned with superior output. I even printed on cd's with the provided tray which caused the only problem I have experienced, slight color bleeding. It works great as long as you give it a rest after 3 cd's. Still very much easier than using the avery labels. This was my first epson product since the dot matrix years and it won't be my last.
