There are plenty of reviews on this trimmer so I won't go into detail - but I did want to make sure I rated the item. I think overall the trimmer is a good product - it does what it is supposed to do. After a few months of use (1-2 times a week), I developed my own pro's con's for the trimmer. It replaced a very cheap Remington trimmer that I had for years (the rechargable battery no longer held a charge) and although I know "change" can be tough after using something for several years, there are a few things I just can't get past.
1. having to remove the general trimmer and replace it with the mini trimmer is more of a PITA than I thought it would be. My old Remington had a built in mini-trimmer that flipped up on the back side - nothing to remove - just flip up and use. On the Philips, pulling the gate off and swapping the basic trimmer for the mini trimmer is pretty annoying. Granted it's not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of life or my morning routine, but it is still pretty annoying. When you remove the gate and start swapping parts, some of the hair that did make its way into the vacuum chamber now gets scattered about again.
2. many have complained about the height adjustment changing on them... I have not encountered this. I can add that for me, none of the settings match my old Remington. This is not so much a reflection on the product, but more of a: "keep in mind, you'll have to adjust to this new product's height - it doesn't adjust to you". I keep my hair short and for me 3 is too long and 2 is too short. I needed a 2.5. I find that if I press really hard in the 3 setting, I can get close, but it seems to take a lot of work. Again, not so much a complaint on the product, just personal preference.
3. For whatever reason, I can not seem to get the hairs on my lip that are close to the underside of my nose. The trimmer gate seems to be so bulky that it hits my nose before the cutter can clip the hair. I have to remove the gate and carefully trim the hairs using the height of the surrounding hairs that the trimmer did get as a guide.
Other than those three annoyances, I can live with the vacuum not catching ALL of the hair (the Remington flung ALL of the hair everywhere). Battery life seems solid, but I guess only time will tell. Someone else mentioned they wished it came with a stand and I concur - it would be nice. Overall it's a solid product and for those with a lot of facial hair, I bet this would be a great purchase. |

"Reliable & well-made, but vacuum sheath decreases precision when using without numbered head." | 2009-11-16 |

| I had a Philips trimmer that lasted me 7 years. It's still running but the battery can no longer be charged. This new trimmer is great so far, except for one feature: the vacuum system has a plastic sheath right infront of the trimmer teeth, and if you want to cut or shape your beard using the naked trimmer without the numbered head, it becomes difficult to gauge where the trimmer is cutting because of the obstruction. |

This products till now ....has worked excellent..thanks to philips...all d other trimmer from other companies get problematic soon...but not philips...its vacuum power is good...though turbo power is there ...but even without cord when i used it...it doesnt needs that turbo power to cut a cm grown beard...dat means it is really a good trimmer..i would recommend to invest money in it..if u really want a quality over price....
the only problem i found is that it doesn't gives you look like you have after doing a shave...which could be obtained by using other higher models of philips...so decide on that before buying if u need complete clean shave like look..go for higher philips models...but for the look given by this norelco...its not that bad...+ its ahead of all other brands selling there models at this same price range.. |

I have used various trimmers but this is the best i have ever used. I am a very happy and satisfied customer. I read some reviews before buying it and I am glad I made the right decision. Although there were some negative reviews about the trimmer not functioning properly or leaving a mess unless you start the turbo mode but I never saw that happening with me. I have been using the normal mode and it just works fine, no mess over my sink, only a little bit here and there and i understand this is not a vacuum cleaner, its a trimmer and as a matter of fact i dont even use turbo mode, its just not required.
for trimming quality, i read someone saying it can't hold the levels and slides down to 1 if you apply even a little pressure but its all wrong, probably they don't know how to use a trimmer correctly. Just to check this, I deliberately applied enough pressure on levels 2 and 3, hard enough to punch my face with it but the trimmer stayed at the selected level, did not slid down to 1, probably i was not hammering it into my face as other guys did, lol.
one charging gives me 2 weeks easily, now the deal is, i dont have full beard, i use it to trim my french beard and sometimes use it on armpits but anyways this is not something one should be worrying about since I can use it while its charging and plugged in.
finally, the smaller attachment it comes with, I just love that one, thank god someone thought about creating it, it helps me alot giving shape to my beard and maintaining the length of hair. If I see a couple of strands growing too big, i can use it and I dont have to risk it with the long 2 inch trimmer blades i have used earlier.
overall, i am satisfied to the core. its a 5 on 5 from my side. |
