| I love my new MP3 player! The Sansa can hold more music that I could ever listen to and, living in a rural area, it can even pick up the local radio station- my regular house radio has problems finding any clear frequencies! Well built, amazing price. I am greatful! |

"If my mp3 breaks, I'll get one of these" | 2008-10-01 |

| I bought this as a gift for a friend who requested a lower-cost mp3 player. I conditioned the battery for him before I gave it to him (charging to full, then discharging, 3 times). It does take a while to charge, but seemed to hold a charge well. br /br /I loaded some books from audible.com to gauge the listening experience and I was impressed. Unlike many mp3 players (even expensive ones), the Clip kept track of where I left off in every book, so I could be switch back and forth between books without losing my place. I didn't load any music on the Clip, so I can't comment on that listening experience. br /br /The screen was very crisp and readable and makes this a HUGE step up from the Shuffle. The sleep feature is very handy, but every time you turn off the Clip, the setting reverts to the default, which is to have sleep turned off. br /br /I have a Creative Zen, which I love, but if it ever fails me, or if I need an mp3 player to take with me on vacation or something, the Clip is what I'll get. br /br /I'd give it 5 stars if the sleep feature didn't keep resetting itself, and if it charged its battery faster. |

It has a ton of features includingbr /br /FM radiobr /Recordingbr /MP3 Playerbr /Podcastsbr /br /So far in the 4 weeks I've had it I've used the unit quite a bit, and it puts out great sound, has a ton of features for the price, and is so small that it competes well with the Ipod shuffle (which I bought it to replace). Unlike the shuffle it has a screen and a ton more features!br /br /The only negatives I've found so far is that the unit does feel a little plasticky and not as solid as some units. Otherwise, it is a great unit for the price and a must buy! |

"Definately a good choice for the younger or less wealthy." | 2008-09-23 |

| At $35, there really isn't anything wrong that can go with this MP3 player. It is one of the cheapest out there, yet a year later of use, it still works as nice as a charm. It definately isn't as tough as an iPod, but the cheaper price really makes up for it. The only way it could be better is if it held more (you can get a 2Gb or even 4Gb, but this isn't a review for those). One of the main things going for it is the screen, which is rare for MP3 players with the Clip's size and price. I don't know what some people are talking about, but for whatever reason, I just plugged in my Sansa Disk and my computer found the correct drivers for me. Didn't even put a CD in (which by the way, it doesn't come with one since some people were looking for it). It is a Microsoft SurePlay MP3 player, which means that many bigger DRM (excluding Apple's FairPlay) will run without complaining on this. All in all a GREAT player. |

| This is a nice little MP3 player for music. Sound quality is very good plus it has an equalizer. There is a display which makes it a cut above any that do not while keeping the price low. It does not download books well or at least I haven't figured it out. |

Pros: small, cute, sound quality, Linux friendly, plays ogg vorbis & 16 kbps mp3s Cons: built in battery recharged from USB port
This is a great little audio media player that plays more than mp3s. It will play mp3, wav, ogg, wma (including the audio portion of wmv), and audible (an audiobook format). I find it to be quite a versatile player. It even has an FM radio and it sounds better than my old Sony walkman.
It comes with limited documentation to get you started. Be sure to go to [...] to get the manual in PDF form. It doesn't come in the box. Also download and install the latest firmware upgrade. The one that came on my clip was pretty old. You will definitely want the recent firmware to correct the problems you see in the other reviews here. Finally, the best resource for getting your questions answered is the company provided forum. I found most all of my questions answered here by searching the forum and only had to ask one question which was answered promptly.

"Very good value (when it works)" | 2008-09-08 |

The SanDisk Sansa Clip requires no special software to work with Windows XP or Linux and plays MP3 and -- with the 01.01.29 firmware -- Ogg Vorbis files. Sound quality is good through my Grados.
But....
I bought two 1-gb Clips, one for my son and one for my nephew. One worked. The other could be charged and could play the sample songs that came on it but would not be recognized by any of the computers that recognized the first unit. I checked SanDisk's support forum, where most posts about this problem were met with the same response: you must be doing something wrong. An e-mail to SanDisk support is still unanswered almost a month later. Amazon accepted a return of the defective unit and cross-shipped a replacement, which works.
So SanDisk gets two stars, the Sansa Clip gets four, and Amazon gets five. |

| I've certainly enjoyed my Sansa Clip, which I've had for almost a year; nice and light... great for working out with. Nonetheless, I don't know if I would have felt the impetus to write a review until "it" happened. I felt something in the pocket of my shorts this evening and my heart sank. My shorts had been washed with my Sansa Clip in the pocket! I was sure that it was toast. I wouldn't expect any electronic item to survive that. I decided to plug it into the charger, just in case. Voila... it lives! I don't recommend washing a Sansa Clip, but I do recommend buying one. ;-) |
