This system is incredible! Having been a gamer from way back (Pong, anyone?) I was hesitant to drop a big pile of money on any system. But once the the HD War was finally settled and Blu-Ray became the victor, I was convinced that it was time to take the plunge! And now, I am so glad that I did! This system has become the centerpiece of my entertainment system, and I have been using it far more than I had ever thought or dreamed! The 80G HDD has plenty of storage space, the on-line capabilty works great! (You can use either the built-in wi-fi or hardwired) The graphics are simply stunning, and the sound is incredible! The 4 USB ports ensure that I have plenty of room for my periphrals! Game play is nothing short of spectacular, as they have made excellent use of the full 1080p capability! I could swear that on most all of the games that it is like looking out of a window instead of looking at a tv! It is that spectacular! And let's not forget the Blu-Ray experience! I've seen hair follicles on some actors and stars that I'd never seen before! I've gone back and rewatched some of my old favorite shows, and been blown away at all of the details that I'd never seen before! It is that good!
So if you haven't gotten one of these babies yet, and are undecided, go ahead and take the plunge, because you won't regret it! |

| I am very pleased with my purchase to say the leaste, the ps3 is my fav system now I have ever owned, and i have owened alot, it is the greatest console on the market my friends do yourself a favor, BUY IT!!! and motorstorm is terrific offroad mayham, crashes are stunning gameplay and grahics amazing... the game keeps you on the edge. |

| 80 gig is the one to get ;) It has Backward compatibility and comes with a game. Don't spend too much on it. I know one of the sellers on here is trying to unload it for 2k! That's almost like extortion. The new 80 gig model is out this month for $499 ;) and it comes with Metal Gear Solid 4, so don't spend more then $500-$600 on the older 80 gig model with Motorstorm(it is a fine game as well) but over priced because that bundle is hard to find. |

Sony has manufactured a gaming console that is above and beyond more advanced than any other gaming console out there. This is more than "just a gaming console". Every one here has pretty much raved about the gaming aspects of it. Sony recently improved it's online experience and has plans for another online experience with the long awaited Sony "Home". What makes this system excellent (aside from it's gaming qualities) for gamers is the ability to easily upgrade the hard drive if you feel the need for a larger one and update the system via ethernet, wireless or flash media. The four usb ports makes adding accessories (like a keyboard or camera) easy.
The Blu-ray player still is rated as the best value. Even more expensive players do not have the full functionality that the PS3 offers. BD-Live and internet capabilities stand it above most existing players. Many current Blu-ray movies are going to be re-released with the extra BD-Live features. An internet connection is required as the PS3 connects to a BD-Live site via the Blu-ray disc and one can do things from playing games to viewing movie previews to whatever else the developers can think of. Sony Pictures, Disney and Fox are the most enthusiastic about adding this feature.
The other thing that Sony is great about is unifying their devices. The PS3 and PSP can link to share content. The PS3 can also link to your pc to share content.
One thing that is still undecided of coming to the US but already expected to release in Europe is PlayTV. It is an accessory that will make your PS3 a DVR. I personally hope this feature comes to the US even though I am a current owner of two Tivo HD with lifetime subscriptions.
These are just a few of the extra features that make the PS3 an incredible home entertainment device. Easy upgrades will make this system good for as many years or longer as the PS2. |

Everyone already knows the basic features of this system. I'm posting to say don't worry about the backwards compatibility for PS1 and PS2 games. I am a game collector and have a library appraised at over $7800. None of the PS1 or PS2 games in my library have any trouble running on the PS3 80gb on the emulation software.
Another awesome feature that not a lot of people are taking advantage of is the media server compatibility. Simplecenter (google it) is a really good FREE easy-to-run media server program you can run on your computer, and as long as the PS3 is connected to your home network you can access any files you tell Simplecenter to share.
Some must have games for this system include:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (not graphically amazing but it has a nice old school challenge for once... nice to see a game that's not just a cinematic walkthrough.
GTA4 - looks and runs the best on the PS3 hands down. Read any professional game review site and they will say the same. So... when the best game in the past 4 years comes out in its best incarnation for your system... it's hard not to be happy.
Drake's Fortune - looks amazing and plays great. A few annoying sequences but not enough to bring the entire game down... and the camera blur when you readjust the view... man... that alone is worth throwing it up on a big screen and just looking at it. Very pretty game.
Burnout Paradise - by far the best looking most fun to play racing game on the system, and the open ended mission style of the game is definitely something fresh in the genre. So far, of all the games I've played, this one looks the best in 1080p on the 50" TV than any other. Any car nuts or street racing fans will get a kick out of this game.
Assassin's Creed - another interesting very fun game. Somewhat repetitive but short enough you won't mind.
Motorstorm - (the game that comes with this bundle) - pretty decent racing game but very little challenge for someone that plays a lot of racing games. Looks nice, but lacks visually when compared to Burnout Paradise.
So, on a scale of 1-10, this system is definitely a 9.9 - the only reason it lacks 0.1 on the score is because it can not cook me dinner, service me sexually or fetch beverages... and that would be the only perfect gaming system... but then again that's why I have a wife right? lol. She and I had to stagger our work schedules slightly so we weren't wrestling over the controller when we came home at the end of the day. It's that good, so stop thinking about it and order it already.
p.s. Blu-ray movies are awesome, and HD-DVD lost the format war so... yeah... another major plus. |

| I bought the playstation 3 just before Xmas 2007 after 2 monthes of exhaustive searching to see what model to buy or whether or not to go the Xbox road. We are very happy with this purchase. We have not had an issue yet with backwards compatability (we have about 30 PS2 games), nor any problems with the machine itself (getting hot or any other issues). We have ours playing on a rear projection HD set and the games & movies (both Blue-Ray & regular) are outstanding visually. Don't let the Xboxer's scare you away from purchasing, PS3 is coming out with a lot of new titles and you still have use of your old PS2's not to mention free online content, movie player, etc. (all free - XBox you pay for). |

| My son got this from Santa for Christmas. So we have had it for going on six months. Everything is still running great. The Blu Ray player was the selling point. The stand alone Blu Ray player unit cost the same as a PS3. We got the 80gb because we have lots of PS2 games we still play. This was well worth the extra $100 not to mention the extra hard drive space. The free online gamming is great. You have to get the extra controller and if still playing the PS2 games, the adapter to transfer your PS2 saves to PS3. Hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do. |

| if you are looking to buy a top-of-the-line game console, this is the only one that you should look at. It is the jack-of-all plus master-of-all. XBOX - cannot see BD hi-def movies(what with the whole HD DVD debacle). Wii is low-tech at the end of the day, does NOT PLAY movies and from my friends(who are Wii owners) I believe once the Wii controller novelty wears off, it starts feeling ordinary pretty soon what with mid-level graphics capability. But not so this PS3 - it does it all - play hi-def games, watch hi-def movies, fantastic CD/music player, has a full-fledged one of the most powerful OS's and best of all - its functionality gets more & more powerful with regular easy-install system upgrades!!! It is virtually noise-less, no drawbacks that I can see- a winner all the way. And oh - the motorstorm game is fun to play now & then - if you are a new buyer remember to buy the rumble controller, as well as the BD remote and you are all set. It is assumed that you have an HDTV(if not, this is a waste); if yes then note that apart from being among the best BD player this is also among the best upconverting DVD player Also has 4 usb ports, is wifi enabled, reads and decodes all audio formats (including the latest HD ones) - supports both HDMI & optical digital out(not both simultaneously) - is future-proof due to free system upgrades - so what more do you want??? |
